About to get out of HS, hype hearing how awesome the Wii is and going to be by Nintendo, all the promises, the console that never sleeps, content over night, the epicness, I couldnt wait. Got my first job and blew 250+ tax on the Wii. Played it, was a blast with the family and friends. Fast forward 3 months later, I bought two games for it, Blackhand edition Godfather and Madden. Fun, but I wanted more, so I bought the heavy hitter Zelda. Bored after a week. Took a break from wii while I waited for SSBB. Pre-Order, hearing how awesome its going to be. Played for 2 months, got bored with it.

Last year my friend was going to Iraq and let me hold his 360 for a year. When I had it, I couldnt put it down, it was the best thing since slice bread to me seeing that I only had a wii. My Wii just added 12 more pounds of dust during this time. Playing BioShock,COD:4, L4D (though it wasnt all that as many make it out to be),Ass:Creed,Dirt2, GTA4  , Froza, etc. Epic content the Wii lacks.

Anyway, my point is that the Wii was overhyped to death and I fell for it. I still have my Wii hooked up from time to time but in my OPINION, it doesnt have the epicness, the fun factor, of this gen.

The fun factor is there, it's just that most of it is in niche genres and indie games. The Wii is a secondary console and hands down, the best console for local multiplayer.

I noticed that you mainly enjoyed the multiplats, that's strikes one, two, and three right there. You should know what you're getting into before buying something.

Really your BIGGEST mistake? You mean you didn't do other mistake that was worse than buying a Wii?

Anyway fun is subjective. I've met many people that regretted buying a X-box 360/PS3 when they tried out the other consoles. Hell you should be happy that you have two system now.(Well kind of.)

yes, one of the main reasons why I bought it, it was really for the family. But they themselves dont bother with it anymore so its dull. Also my friends are always busy now with work and college.

My biggest mistake was buying a 360 with my PS3. Because I honestly have no interest in 360 exclusives. It's just a dumping machine for multiplats. I might sell it. -_- I think a Wii and PS3 would of been the perfect combo.

My thoughts EXACTLY! Well put. Had I just waited like a year it would've become obvious the Wii wasn't for me, but I bit into the hype like it was a turkey sammich.

I get how kids can enjoy it, and how parents are OK with it - but if you're over 12 and think anything Nintendo related is cool, well (insert comment that would get me moderated/banned)...

Personally i feel that it still has potential or had, the problem was the online in comparison to the other two is bad, the number of peripherals got to way too much, and the lack of good games (nintendo first party are fine im talking great third party).

buying a wii now doesnt look goodat all, but i got my wii on nov, 2006.

back then, wii was so rare, and it was soooo cool because not many people have it, and my friends all wanted to come to my house to play wii.

you just get a wrong console at wrong time. cuz wii's graphics looks bad now especially when HDTV becomes affordable.

You're right that it's been a disappointment, but you don't seem to appreciate the sort of good games the Wii is getting anyway, so it's naturally more of a disappointment for you than it was for other people.

i just bought a wii, and even after a week i play my ps3/pc more ... there is just no lasting appeal to the motion controls ... i'll admit tho, i did buy the console for the resident evil games and the new silent hill game ... and pretty much nothing else ... i guess I'll buy some of the watered down classics like the metroid's and mario.

Unless you're a huge fan on Nintendo games the Wii has a very weak library. I hope it'll pull out some better titles like the DS did, but so far is hasn't been going well. I'm still putting off buying one. I'm hoping to find a used one for $100 after the holidays.

As much as I wish I could disagree with the TC...I just can't.

I too fell for the hype and picked up a Wii at launch. At the time, it was awesome. But as time passed and the novelty wore off, I found myself playing the Wii less and less. Now, I can't remember the last time I so much as turned on my Wii, much less bought a game for it. Metroid The Other M is perhaps the only game I'm excited for in 2010 and that's a huge disappointment.

It's a great console for casual gamers and excellent for local multiplayer but local multiplayer is something I only rarely do, as I don't have friends over to play the Wii too often. As such, I'm incredibly disappointed in the Wii this generation. Nintendo has long been a favorite of mine and until this generation, I'd always been pleased with their consoles. This generation...not so much...

I bought one for my ex and her kids back when we were still together. I think the most fun we got out of it was downloading old NES games on the Virtual Console. I do plan on buying another one with an arcade stick for TvC though.

Can't say I agree. I know it still lacks the fusion of quality and quantity (where the PS3 and 360 are covered), But I find other ways to live through owning just a Wii (in terms of consoles), such as playing old games playable on it (Virtual Console and Gamecube game compatibility), and playing what I want to play (I will happily admit, I really like The Conduit, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight, and will hopefully enjoy Modern Warfare Wii when I get that game).

Well, he did get it at launch.

Even then, thats probably because of his unrealistic expectations.

I've met alot of people like the TC who like to think buying the Wii at launch some how excuses them from their incompetence. Lets look at it this way.

At E3 2006 (before launch) Nintendo showed mario, zelda, metroid, a few other smaller titles and third parties showed Red Steel, sonic etc.

E3 2009 Nintendo showed mario (2), metroid, zelda (announced), a few smaller titles and third parties showed games such as Red Steel 2, Tales of..., etc.

What im saying is Nintendo really hasnt changed throughout this gen, yet people like to insinuate there was this day where they suddenly betrayed the hardcore, which is not true. Nintendo's just been Nintendo and if you've owned any of their last 2 consoles, you should know what to expect and big extravagant 3rd party titles isnt one of them.

Im not saying you cant be dissapointed with the wii, of course you can. I am but i haven't bought a Wii.I will at some point next year though. Im just saying and like ActicEdge said its down to not researching the product enough and unrealistic expectations.

Nintendo is first and is actually doing a good job at staying first but it would really be nice to see some of their other franchises come out too. I mean if Team Ninja could do Metroid why not let a very skilled team do an Fzero or Star fox? Also I haven't seen Nintendo take any chances ever since 07 unlike Sony with these.. Games like LBP and Heavy Rain. I do applaud Nintendo but I just wish they would just let other developpers try Nintendo's licensed properties.

Well Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden developers) are developing Metroid: The Other M, that's a start for letting other developerstry to make games with their licensed game.

The Wii definately needs another platform to go with it. But it does have it's fun and different games on it. It's not a bad console, just a disappointing one.

[QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]Anyway, my point is that the Wii was overhyped to death and I fell for it.trollop_scat

If you can't like Metroid, or at least Zelda, then you're not a real gamer. Sorry.

But I kind of agree with the topic. If they push the upcoming Zelda back and it releases on the next system, then the Wii was a complete waste. I need a good fantasy adventure title other than AC2.

My biggest mistake was buying a 360 with my PS3. Because I honestly have no interest in 360 exclusives. It's just a dumping machine for multiplats. I might sell it. -_- I think a Wii and PS3 would of been the perfect combo.

It is not, I own the combo and the wii is never used. Its just a waste of money straight up.
