PS3. I don't have time to play die-hard hours anymore, but I love joining a game like CoD4 or Warhawk and playing for 1-2 hours. PlayStation 3 will give you more replay value because of the PlayStation Network. Wii hardly has an online. If you like playing games with your family A LOT then by all means get a Wii, but I would go with the PlayStation 3.

I don't know how your tastes are. I personally find the Wii too kiddy so I'd say opt for the PS3.

I would definitely recommend NOT getting the 360 if you can only spare an hour or two a day a few times a week like me.

You want a system that works and not a system that will continually be in transit from repair center to your home. (Even if the game library is arguable leaps and bounds ahead of anything the Wii/PS3 can offer)

Look man I got a 360 and Wii the only kinda reason why I wanted a PS3 was the same as u God of War 3.

But that might not come out till 09 or 10 so wait till the PS3 goes down in price wait for some more good games and buy it.

I have both a PS3 and a wii. I too am no longer the gaming monster I once was. I have school to balance after all. So I thought a wii would be fine to satisfy my gaming needs (couple hours a day, everyday). Well, I'll just tell you this. If the wii could satisfy my gaming urges, I wouldn't have spent $574 on a PS3.

The wii has a few big hitters every now and again. Unfortunately, Metroid and Mario aren't my type of game. The only games I have for the wii atm are Zelda TP (loved it, got 72 hours out of this one game.) wii sports, and the rest are gamecube games that I never played last gen like wind waker and twin snakes.

The only wii games I'm looking forward to are No More Heroes and Brawl.

Listen man, the PS3 have solid library atm. You can take it slow and still keep up with the library. The online service on the wii is pretty pathetic. No voice chat, laggy, and barely any games even have online.

The PS3 is an all around good console. It's stable ( no rrod ), it's powerful, next gen graphics, overall solid library with quite a bit of diversity.

In a situation like yours, I can tell you this much: I used to be in the exact same position so i KNOW that there is a pretty good chance you will be disappointed with the wii, but there is virtually no chance you will be disappointed with the PS3.

I only got a PS3 because the wii couldn't quite cut it. 1 game every 3-4 months is ridiculous, but honestly, with all the shovelware being fed to the wii, you will be playing a few games a year.

Get a PS3, take your time, and play the best quality games this gen has to offer.

If you own a HDTV, I would get the PS3 or 360.(PS3 does have Blu-Ray, an extra incentive)

If you don't, graphics probably don't mean as much, and I would look into the Wii.

If you see yourself going ONLINE, again, I would get the PS3 or 360.(PS3 is Free, and Xbox Live is great)

If you don't, the Wii may be right for you.(Online with no voice chat, and friend codes for a handful of games is NOT going to cut it for the Hardcore Online gamer)

The PS3/360 have fantastic OFFLINE games, but your post is so vague, it's hard to taylor a perfect response to you.

I can tell you, that I have all of them, and the Wii doesn't get played as much as my other two.

Also, I would go to Gamestop and pick out 3-5 games for each system, and see what grabs you the most.

*Edit:

You love of God of War leads me to think you are more the mature kind of gamer, which leads more to the PS3. Besides having a future GoW to play, you can play DMC4 and Heavenly Sword right now. NMH is the only game for GoW lover I could recommend for sure for Wii.

The looking at the game Libraries for both consoles, the PS3 is more Mature, if that means anything to you. To me, Fun is fun, so I would play SMG over Beowulf. But if you are more the Mature gamer, that could be another factor to look at.*

And given that he has not told us his preferences how in the world could you know that he would be disappointed with the Wii and not be with the PS3. Just because Mario and Metroid arent your type of games (despite the fact that one of them is best reviewed game of this generation). What are these amazing games that the PS3 has that the Wii doesnt, because I'm looking at my gaming shelf right now and I have double the amount of games for the Wii than I do the PS3. Plus Brawl blows anything this year out of the water with sheer content alone...

Are there any games on the Wii that interest you? Are there any games on the PS3 besides God of War 3 that interest you? You shouldn't buy a system for just one game.

Worst response so far....

On the contrary.

It's so detailed you couldn't even offer a rebuttal.

Your response consists of "It's not kiddy and you can pick up and play."

My response beats the pants off of your response.

You concede that the game library might be leaps and bounds over what the other systems might offer, yet you dont recommend a purchase because of exaggerated rumors. What kind of a gamer are you again? That alone makes your response inferior to every other one in this thread. I have had my 360 since launch and have not once had ANY problems whatsoever.

PS3. Just do it. 360 or PS3 over the Wii. Put it this way, I have a PS3, my girlfriend (who just bought me a PSP Star Wars woohoo!) has a Wii and 360 at her house. The Wii was given to her by her brother, and she says, "take it home if you want it." I haven't yet. I will eventually, just not yet. She doesn't even play it.

But if the Wii games interest you get that.

Exaggerated rumors eh?

You ought to go over the Microsoft's official forums and take a look at their hardware forum.

Your example is one of the very rare ones of a system that is fully functional.

I wouldn't consider a 30% failure rate to be an exaggerated issue.

Nobody calls the Wii for kids, except here.

If you are afraid people will make fun of you out in the real world for having a Wii, you're wrong.

Then again, if you don't play much at all, then both the PS3 and Wii will do you good.

that's why Wii/DS games are next to the kids movies and candy where I work (mom and pop video store).

It was my idea, too, my boss thought it was a good idea to get more people to get kids movies.

Too bad PS3 has way more good games than Wii, and has way more compelling games coming this year.

And Yes it has good graphics, but I don't see how they make you unable to go outdoors.

the Wii has some good games comming out: Super Smash Brother Brawl and Mario Kart

However, if you like shooters/action/RPG and GTA 4, then definitely the PS3:

notable (just some on the top of my head) for the ps3 comming out this year:

GTA 4 (for 360 too not Wii), Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, PS Home (not really a game), MGS 4 + MGS Online, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo.. maybe the FF series, theres alot more too :D

thanks everyone for the feedback. Unfortunately, most contributers to this thread will be upset when i say im going for the wii. Here are some of my deciding factors:

  • im a bit tired of shooters
  • i think the wii will provide a new style of gaming i will enjoy more than just bad @$$ graphics
  • when lego indiana jones and SW the force unleashed both come out, i think playing them via the wii will provide a noteworthy experience
  • as one contributer noted, god of war 3 is not expected anytime soon
  • tiger woods is also a game i own and enjoy, again, on the wii it may be really unique
  • mario brawl looks pretty killer
  • im a zelda fan (enough said)

let it be known, as soon as i get an HD tv, i will also be getting the ps3. until then, wii it is.

get the PS3. it's already a great console and by fall 2008 it'll probably be the console with more genres well-covered.

[QUOTE="Masterfubu"]no the second highest rated game ever on gamerankings begs to differ so does the 7th game ever to get a perfect score on Famitsu. the Ps3 does have good games coming. but there not here yet. SSBB taught me something about waiting for games that i wouldn't wish on anyone elseHeydanbud92

like i said. PS3 has way more good games than Wii.

is that hard to understand?

is it that hard to understand your OPINION? no Imo wii has better games That are out. im saying this without even adding Vc or gamecube games. the wii has a better library right now. understand?

[QUOTE="mingo123"]

get xbox 360...it owns both...but if you cant then get ps3

Heydanbud92

yep.

Or get the Wii if you want to fall for the gimmick and then you can convince yourself that the shovelware it gets are good games.

Or you can, you know, not buy the shovelware and only go for the good games. You aren't forced to buy every single game.

Nice job choosing the Wii, TC. You made the right decision.

Either way you cant go wrong. I play my Wii on a casual basis due to other things in my life, so it suits me
