Don't even bother. He's a true brogamer in every sense of the word. Unless he magically sees the light and gets bored of CoD/Sport games, that is all he will ever play.

Frankly, in recent years, Japanese games, most of them, really do SUCK, or simply just don't hold any interest anymore to most Western gamers, myself included.

It's not even about xenophobia (for some, yeah), or the fact Japanese games SUCk for the sake of making fun. Many Japanese developers themselves have admitted Japanese game development have taken a step back for over 10 years.

Honestly, I'd rather take a snoozefest of a game like FarCry 3 over Ninja Gaiden III or some half-ass Sonic game. Better yet, I'd take Black Ops or Socom 4 over Metal Gear Solid 3 and Final Fantasy X130034576788 whatever, anyday.

Explain to him that not all Japanese games are perverted or weird, show him some of the cooler types of ones. Then convince him that there is no harm in trying a video game just once, people who say no to everything are missing out on a lot of oppurtunities in life.

Otherwise just let your friend enjoy what he enjoys. You can like your games and he can like his.

Show him some good games from Japan

I feel alot of devs became complacent in their ways, when the west devs caught up and passed them , they then took notice.

Western games have become complacent too, look at how many shooters there are now? All from western devs, and the majority are bland and linear. All are trying to get a piece of COD pie, same thing happened with Mortal Kombat and the fighting genre a long time ago, there were so many other fighters trying to get into it.

@TC: Lose the anime games and show him Metal Gear.

^Add Dark Souls, some Lost Planet 2 (it's not that bad) and you can slowly introduce him to the countries finest as he gets more accustomed to the more Western orientated titles
