Wow, Yeah, Why don't Developers use that engine more?

It looks great. But that's just it, it probably would lag on most of today's PC systems; never mind consoles.
There is a difference between a great screenshot and a playable one.

CryEngine 2 was only for the PC, and with most developers looking to make multi-platform games this didn't make it a particularly attractive choice.
CryEngine 3 (used in Crysis 2 and Codename: Kingdoms) supports both consoles and is aimed at appealing to multi-platform developers, most notably with its "Live Create" editing environment which scales to each console's capabilities automatically and lets designers see the results running in real time on the actual console hardware; with all three versions being built simultaneously CryEngine 3-based games don't have a "lead platform" nor are they "ported" in the traditional sense.
This guy is now working for Crytek on Codename Kingdoms for xbox 360 i think, was confirmed lately

Aww such a waste for his talent to go to consoles. They'd probably struggle to get even 5 frames with the work this guy created.

Considering all of Crysis 2, Rage, Alan Wake, Gears 3, Witcher 2 are on consoles and look beyond stunning, his talent will be fully used and we will get one of the most amazing gamesever created with Crysis 2 engine enhanced even further

Considering you don't have the basic reading conprehension to understand that The Witcher 2 isn't confirmed for consoles, you're wrong. I don't get why you still try after having what is it, 4-5 accounts banned now. Still a 360 fanboy and die-hard PC hater.
His talent was fully used as a modder. Whatever he creates on the 360 won't come close to these pictures.

You mean Alan wake looks like crap or something ? It is my best looking game ever right now really and is because of the amazing art and engine combination, Kingdoms will do even better of course, cant wait
Haters gonna hate, that is for sure
No **** it looks awesome. You're linking from CGSociety/CGTalk. All the best of the best in the art industry be it traditional, or digital post there. To be honest this looks kinda "meh" compared to 99% of the stuff that comes from that site (or Zbrushcentral).

Consoles
Nope. Cost.
They aren't even trying to get in on the middleware game. One of the studios I was on pre-production with a couple of years back was looking into to what engine would best to suit their needs. We were taking everything into consideration from Gamebryo, to UE2/3, to Unity, to Cryengine, etc.. Unfortunately the licensing for Cryengine is simply ridiculous. And when you have deeply entrenched engines like UE out there with tons of stability, functionality and documentation for a fraction of the cost, then other engines start to lose their appeal no matter how awesome they may be.

The difference is that this can actually be played in a game than CGI
So, what other real time playable graphics do you have that look so much better ? A link would be nice too

Well, for CryEngine 2 you would've had to port it to consoles yourself since it didn't have PC support and this is off of CE2. CryEngine 3 definitely does though. I do remember hearing that licensing fees were extremely high for a lot of these engines and thats why we see UE3 on a lot of them.

Most industry artists talent is wasted. You really think this looks impressive? You should see the work that the guys at ND do in their spare time. Blows this **** out of the water. Same goes for some of the guys at Epic and especially Blizzard. Hell I've even seen better stuff than this from some of the guys that work on Splinter Cell.
All I'm getting at is that while this is some great looking work, hes just another average joe in this line of work.

Uhhh I don't know if you know this or not but game developers from big to small studios visit those forums to post their work, review others work, or look for some talent to hire on. They post concept art and in-game stuff too. Sometimes its alpha footage or stuff that was scrapped.

I already knew that. I've seen the art behind ND's games and other studios. Games today do not represent the art at all. They don't even come close. Especially at Blizzard. Their stuff is bats*** insane. Its a shame only their CGI can express their work.
For a solo modder I think it looks impressive. I've used to visit those forums at least once a week a year back and that stuff really is insane. Heck I've even seen some stuff by guys at HVS that make it a wonder why they work on the Wii.

if kingdoms is running off the cryengine, much like Crysis 2 is on the 360 then you can expect it to look and perform very similarly (not very good)[QUOTE="sandbox3d"]

Absolutely. Its all about finding a stable source of pay really. I've seen top notch guys squander their talent on NDS games and Iphone stuff.

I envy you art guys. I was going to a private art school for awhile but I couldn't stand it. I think it was more-so the school itself than me slacking off that made me quit, plus the ****ing stupidly high tuition. Seriously every teacher I had also taught the same thing at a community college. So I could've been getting the same education for free (I could've went to CC and got everything covered by the state.)

Yeah, most of those schools are ridiculously expensive. I was lucky enough to know some talented guys and was able to go the "self taught" route with them helping me along. And yes, you do run into oblivious administration and under-qualified instructors as well. The only CG art school I've ever seen that really looks worth the trouble is Vancouver Film School (well there are others, but it seems like the best). They turn out top notch artists on a regular basis. So good that I've considered taking a couple of years to go up there and further my education.
Not sure if you should envy us though. :P
Some guys make it into a stable position and do really well, but most of us go from one job to another constantly and if that slows down then you better be able to fall back on some free lance work. Its a lot of fun, but does not always provide a consistent life style.
 That IS great!

Creation is supposed to be a whole new engine. They're finally scrapping Gamebyro
what's even more amazing is on the site he posted that all the buildings have fully modelled interiors as well.

Crysis 2 looked beyond stunning... in those bullshots. turns out it was as ugly as any other current gen console game.
After looking at those screenshots in the first page, you can't say "console" and "stunning" in the same sentence anymore.
