Lately ive been lamenting about my launch purchase of a PS3 and how ive basicaly been in purchase justification mode since I got the damn thing.
I just hate thinking that 360 is some standard kinda **** that you always need to demo on it, always need to show it in videos and always need to show that version being streamed because its some kind of freakin standard today as opposed to the other console. Again, I paid 600 **** ass dollars for a console at launch and naturaly im jaded and thinkin everyone is either bias or against it when I constantly see the other console either being the version that is demod on sites or its the one that devs seem to perfer to show the game on or its the one that seems to be not given as fair a shake as the other console. (note, my wording may be weird, but I meant that I dont think PS3 is maybe given as fair of a shake as 360.
Also, keep in mind that from 2007-mid 2009 I got hammered with anti PS3 **** that probaly left a dent on how I view the system and probaly had me develop buyers remorse. How would you feel if you paid 600 dollars and you had a well known dev (Gabe Newell) call it a waste of time and basicaly madeyou feel likeyouwere stupid for buying it (yes, hes come around I suppose, but I doubt thats because he personaly had a change of heart), seeing all the PS3 doomsday articles, and crap like that for like 3 years straight and some of that is still happening today. Naturaly you would probaly question your purchase. Were so used to seeing PS3 being the industry whipping boy that I think weve all accepted it now to wherewerestunned whenever a game turns out better on PS3 then it does on 360 or we are stunned whenever it outsells 360 for a month. Weve accepted that its always going to be third in NPD and have only 1 or 2 games in the top 10 and crap like that
Im in this spiral of trying to justify my expensive purchase, having buyers remorse because the majority dosent seem to like it as much as the other, cheaper console, and the majority of multiplatform games underperform on it.I asked this question on a podcast called Talk Radar last friday for their phonecalls segment and they gave the overused"you arent going to notice the diferences when the game is going X speed" and "360 used to be the lead sku for deving, that is no longer the case" and stuff like that trying to comfort me, but after seeing that Mafia 2 crap on PS3, I think what they said was kinda a lie, or maybe not a lie because thats what they thought, but certainly an inaccuracey or they were wrong. and they said its not a big deal, but chances are they probaly would play the game on 360 not out of bias, but due to Live and Points and all that, so really their not that exposed to it enough to develop a sense of noticing a trend of faults in PS3 versions of multipaltform games.
things have gotten better for PS3 I guess, but nothing really has changed that much. PS3 had the worse multiplatforms back in 2007 compared to 360, they had the worse online in 2007 compared to 360, and its not mainstream enough to warrent sites using it as showing demos or videos usingthe PS3version. And all of this is true today in the year 2010. Also, 360 outsold PS3 total WW in 2007 adn for msot months of that year, and360 still has more sold today WW. And if the 360s surge of sales keeps up through holiday, I dont think the gap will EVER close and people will consider PS3 a bust maybe because it went from first to third in one console generation.
Maybe I just need to accept that either PS3 isnt as good of a games console as 360 or that I need to use it only for Exclusives and games that are legitimatley better on it, which is like finding a snowball in Hell.
