I made the same move in early 2008 when I got my xbox. I mostly agree although I really don't like the overpriced map packs... I don't think they should be free but sometimes they are a real rip-off, this is why I haven't yet bought any DLC.

why didnt u just play and enjoyboth to begin with, and ur makin it sound like ur being forced to stick to one or the other...instead of being a "console gamer" or a "pc gamer", just be a gamer, and enjoy it allSo I finally just couldn't take it anymore. I was playing call of duty WAW beating absolute A, and it the game crashed and then my computer sat there for what seemed an hour and then just shut off. Things like this happen all of the time in my PC gaming fun. I was the guy that bought all the new games as soon as they game out. I had a decent (though no longer amazing pc) Geforce 8800GT 512MB, AMD 6000+, 4GB RAM, Vista Ultimate, yadda yadda.
I just got so tired of constantly having to find updates and patches, and upgrading my hardware, that I decided to dust off my Xbox 360 and two games I bought for it years ago and give it another go. I gave up first because I hated the controller, mouse and keyboard just seem natural. Heres my conclusions I've come to.
The BAD
1. The graphics annoy me... at times, very badly. Going from 8X anti-aliasing at 60FPS with all maxed in COD WAW to the xbox demo of it I played was a treachery. But I got used to it, and it doesn't bother me quite as badly. I bought a bunch of new games for the 360 and some of them look pretty darn good, like need for speed shift for example. Games like prototype, still bother me graphic wise a bit, but I just have to unspoil myself.
2. I still don't like the controller. For everything other than FPS and RTS, its the bomb. Otherwise, it's simply defying what god intended. I can't pull half the tricks I could on the PC in COD. I feel like I'm being.....casual.
3. The games cost about 10 bucks more, but I don't find it to be so bad. At least I know they will work perfectly when I get home.
4. You have to pay for all the map packs and such. I find that dumb, but I guess I can get used to it too.
....thats about it.
The GOOD
1. It does everything for me. It updates all the games automatically, and everything loads quite snappily with no problamo.
2. The games don't crash on me all the time. Some may have a lot of bugs, but so the PC versions...and they crash.
3. The selection of games is awesome compared to the every now and then games PC seems to be coming out with lately. True, all the games I've bought so far are also on pc, but theres so many more I can get.
4. DEMOS. I really like getting to play the game before I buy it, and PC almost never gets demos anymore.
5. XBLA is great. I do like playing casual games, and theres a poo load to choose from.
6. Everything else.
I've done what I said I would never do as a hardcore PC gamer, and I think it feels great. The games look great on my TV, and everything works perfectly all the time. Not to mention, even though I dont like the controller, its a lot more comfortable to lay back a bit.
I am now a console gamer. I'm already thinking about buying a PS3 slim too.
any1 else made a similar move recently. I'm just feelin pretty good so I had to throw down all my little verdicts I've come to.

oblivion has froze and crashed more times on me for the xbox 360 then all my modern PC games have.
i've had gta4 freeze up on me a couple times, madden 07 once, and probably some others, all on the xbox 360.
so theres problems with every platform, deal with it

Yea but you know its the game for that console and devs are working on a fix for it. On pc, when you have a freeze theres so many variables you have no idea where to start. Like, is it even the game I'm playing? Did I just install something else that is causing this? Did I just hook up new hardware that is causeing this? I mean really, for a console its just restart it and it normally plays fine, while a pc game may just keep doing that same thing til YOU get it figured out. Heck on my last rig the cod4 demo wouldn't load if I hit a key to by pass the games intro lol. I never figured that out, so to play it I had to sit through all of the games intro or else it would just drop to desktop.why didnt u just play and enjoyboth to begin with, and ur makin it sound like ur being forced to stick to one or the other...instead of being a "console gamer" or a "pc gamer", just be a gamer, and enjoy it allkidcool189It's System Wars. Everyone's going to pick a side, whether permanently or temporarily for the sake of a single argument. Dabbling in a few 360 or PS3 games doesn't make one a consolite, and you can play the occasional PC game without being lumped in with PC gamers. For further reference, see the deleted scene from Pulp Fiction about Elvis fans and Beatles fans.
Keep telling yourself that. Kind of like how you think Maple Leafs are Canada's team when they're the worst team in the league
They are Canada's team whether you like it or not. They even ave a commercial saying it lol.

With consoles there is a single hardware configuration which minimizes problems. It's nice to know that the game is designed for your hardware. Even if there is a problem you can know that the company will work hard to fix it since you aren't part of a tiny minority.

Thank you, I was just going to do a eye roll for him. But you explained it perfectly lol.
How is event viewer is going to tell you that the game is the problem?dc337You do know what event viewer is don't you? I'm not talking about your regular ctrl alt delete stuff. I'm talking this crap;
I was thinking about buying a new graphicscard(ATI 4770) for my PC, after reading this, Im not gonna. and I actually got a head ache from asking my self which graphics card should I get. Nvidia or ATI? 4670 0r 4770 or 4850 or 5890? and look at the price, I was like, wait let me think. if I buy a PS3 game for $59 I can play right now, but if I buy a new decent PC graphics card I'll have to spend $129 then I'll need to buy a new game. plus I'll will have to do all the work, like uninstalling the older drivers, and then downloading the new drivers, not only that I'll have to hook it up the new graphics card try to make it fit. also considering doing cross fire. man, that's a lot of work and more money spending just to play a few PC games. come to think of it, consoles have more good games than PC's. in this case, I like PS3 cuz they do have lots of good exclusive games... my 8600gt xxx will do just fine for older games and internet surfing.
Oh, I used to own a 360 it RRed on me. loved it but I had to change. no hating.

One win and seven losses? That's pretty abysmal
Actually it's worse. See the 3 under OT? It means they got to overtime/shootout and lost but were awarded 1 point for it.
So in reality they lost 10 times.

And was the retail game better?

You think there's a consistent experience on console? Some people have RROD, some never experience it. Some people disc scratch, some people don't. Some freeze, some don't... and all this from the same hardware...

I think it's worth it... don't let others influense you in your decision.
But if you don't like the PC librairy, then don't get a gaming PC... it's pretty much a simple logic.
games constantly crash on pc? that's news to me. sounds like a issue with your pc more than the pc games. it's like x360 getting rrod. you could easily have bought a new pc or figured out what the problem was. imprezawrx500
Yeah. 99% of the times I've had problems on the pc (which is rare) didn't have to do with the game software. It's always been a matter of keeping the drivers up to date on my graphics cards...which is really easy to do. I prefer the pc to any gaming console, but I'm not an elitist. I started gaming on consoles and understand the appeal. If TC wants to switch to XBox, that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. Though, I don't buy the reasons he's listed for doing so. They seem highly exaggerated.
