I agree with at least one point there. 3rd party games aren't selling as well because 3rd parties aren't putting major games on the wii. Why did RE4 and RE:UC sell? It's simple, because it's a recognizable brand. Zack and Wiki was a sales downer but it wasn't promoted enough and it was totally new.
3rd parties just need to invest the kind of money and resources into wii titles that nintendo has been doing. They will get their money back and much much more.

Well, don't you think that because the base rate for the hardcore gamers are currently low(er) because of demand from casuals and non gamers outstripping supply for hardcores could also be a good reason that hardcore games aren't selling? It makes sense given that badly rated casual games are selling well on the Wii rather than high rated. Doesn't mean this trend is going to continue though.

Quick Summary:
Many third party devs use little effort in every aspect and do nothing to let the general public even know their games exist. Games like Guitar Hero and RE:4 sold well because they are quality and had some sort of advertising....WOW!
Hello. I have been poking around, and I noticed that people are talking about how hardcore games don't sell on the wii. Well, I believe that it is SELLING on the Wii, but it is not selling WELL. I know this is common sense, but just hear me out. So what most people don't realize from this common sense is that the Wii's hardcore gaming population is far smaller than the Wii's non-hardcore gaming population (so called casuals). But why is Nintendo hardcore games selling you ask? Well, it is because... 1, they are very famous IPs that even casuals know well, 2, because they've been marketed well, 3, Nintendo is a big company and they are a trusted brand, and 4, because the games from first party gets very positive reviews. So far, 3rd parties have not given Wii a chance with hardcore games, and I don't see how guys like Suda can critisize the Wii when he should in fact be critisizing himself for not seeing that No More Heroes does not appeal to Japanese people. Back to my point, the Wii's hardcore population has potential to grow. Right now, it's harder for them to grow because the demand is too high, and the supplies can't meet the demand. Therefore, the hardcore gamers must fight with the casuals for a Wii console, and that causes the growth of hardcore gamers to be far less than casuals (there are more casuals and non gamers in the world than hardcore gamers). I'm now suggesting that in the future, hardcore gamers will probably grow on the Wii as Nintendo leads the way with games like SSMB coming this March. When Nintendo gains more footing on both hardcores and casuals, then we'll see a more recognizable pattern that we saw with NES, SNES, Playstation and Playstation 2. philosopher_11
So essentially your reasoning is that hardcore games sell less on the Wii because it has a smaller hardcore fanbase and many hardcore gamers are left out without a Wii because casuals get it first.
The problem is those hardcores are the ones who camp out overnight for a Wii, not casuals. 3rd parties arent selling well because they dont appeal to the Wii audience. The Wii can NEVER be like the PS2 in 3rd party support because the main benefit for 3rd party support for the PS2 was not audience size but the ability to port. The Wii makes it almost impossible to port to or from the 360/PS3/PC and 3rd party devs hate exclusives so they make their multiplats minus the Wii. Now they are trying to compensate by making spinoffs for the Wii, if those dont sell well, then the Wii is just out of luck 3rd party wise.

People forget a HUGE factor on RE:4's success on the Wii, it was 29.99 and its RE:4. SO its a solid game at almost HALF the price of a normal Wii game. Unless other devs can make their hardcore games 29.99 people might need to stop using RE:4 as an example of 3rd party success for the Wii.
the third party support has got to be better!!!! the games need to be more diverse. i like mario and zelda, but i want soul caliber or tekken. the wii is popular right now and into the future.
i also want more mature content as well. i want third party developers to bring the same concept to the wii, the same as they do to the ps3 and 360. i'm not saying that a game like bioshock would work great on the wii, especially since its already on the 360. that would be unfair, because the wii version would be inferior to the 360 version in terms of graphics, etc. just give us more mature games to go with the casual stuff as well.:D
