[QUOTE="surrealnumber5"] just left of obama is just right of slavery, i dont see how anyone could think of him as any where close to center Ontainwhat Obama might think in private may be left but in terms of what his administration has done it's been right of center in many areas. most noticeably in war he's had pretty much the same policies as Bush. and in taxes he's been right of Reagan. about the only thing that is sorta left was healthcare but without the public option it's not what the left wants anyway. the only thing i judge leaders on are their actions in regard to the market. bailouts/handouts and interfering with the market at all is a leftest action. how the GOV decides to use its military, outside of using it on its own population, is not something i am concerned with. he has backed the fed and their holding of a near zero interest rate, that is not what reagan did. Reagan allowed the markets to balance them selves out and that is why interest rates hit +20% for a month in the 80's. Any sort of mandate on the population such as healthcare is a socialistic proposition, it does not matter who on what side is for or against it, it forces people to pay for something outside of their choosing, much like my share cropping analogy. economically he is a keynesian and that makes him a socialist. he believes that government spending can make up for shrinking in the private sector because of aggregate spending. if you would like to further discuss economics i would be glad to do so but not here
