[QUOTE="LookAnDrolL"][QUOTE="Bigboi500"]You're free to disagree with my opinions, but why the underhanded insults? That was uncalled for.

Bigboi500

Because I'm a harsh person

...and you're the one calling me "immature"? Quite ironic don't you think? :?

Yes, calling someone lifeless because he likes games is immature. And being harsh its part of my personality it doesn't have anything to do with being mature or not.

Yes it does. Calling people names for having a different opinion than your own is the epitome of childishness. Guess I struck a nerve, the truth can hurt.

Yeah, I couldn't sleep yesterday because of that, Mr "Bigyy" Boi, really shocking.

The way I see it, there are four types of gamers:

Non-gamer: A person who only plays games at parties, does not own any console or game system, doesn't know the difference between Zelda and Forza etc.

Casual gamer: Someone who owns one system, plays maybe three or four hours or less a week, has very limited knowledge about things game related.

Core gamer: Owns multiple systems, knows quite a bit about the industry, plays many genres, but still has an outside life and real friends.

Hardcore gamer: Owns everything, spends almost all free time gaming, lives and breathes everything about the industry, rarely does anything but game.

I consider myself a core gamer, and I think most people on this forum are as well.

Wow. Cool. I would be core gamer I think

Ditto.

[QUOTE="gamer4life85"]

HARDCORE gamer: someone who spends alot of time playing video games nuff said!

You could only own 1 console 1 game popular game or not

CAPSROGUE

So people that play Runescape or that Farm game on Facebook are hardcore gamers aswell?

Videogames are much like sports. Investing more time doesn't make you necessarily hardcore. Neither does it make you hardcore if you happen to have a football, a soccer ball and tennis ball. (You guys can pick out which console is which)

I think anyone that plays a game is a gamer. Much like anyone that sports is a sportsmen. If (s)he plays alot they that would make him/her an avid gamer/sportsmen. If (s)he's skilled then that would make him/her a skilled (or proffessional) gamer/sportsmen. If (s)he likes to keep track of everything sports/games-related that simply makes him/her a sport/game news junkie.

Terms like hardcore and casual should be given to games. Games that can be influenced by skill & understanding would fall under "hardcore" (Chess). Games that are not as "casual" (Party Games).

Except a football doesn't cost $200. Which item are people more likey to spend time with $15 or $250? I think the MLG is a slap in the face. I've been gaming my entire life and I have to ask myself why am I not making money?! No I think Mature, Teen, and Everyone is much better on the gaming case then Hardcore/casual.

Hardcore/casual does mean the amount of time you spend gaming. My eight year old nephew spends a ton of time playing Zoo Tycoon. I consider him a hardcore gamer.

I really think a hardcore gamer can be identified by the amount of time they play gaming, how many systems they own, and amount of games in their collection. I think hardcore gamers are the type that have to experience all types of games, no matter the console. I have over 7 or 8 consoles, and about 340 games, but yet I really don't know if I fit as a hardcore gamer. I just consider myself a gamer in general, who loves games of allnature, as long as they are enjoyableI'll play them.

I always thought the difference b/w hardcore and not was the radar and how much life you had
