Demographic: casual port + hardcore sega fans

startegy: spilt the market in 1/2 make it close enough to get wii ports + original Sega games + some 360 ports

name: dreamcast 2

specs:

2.0 Ghz cpu

GPU: 450Mhz 256 MB SDRAM

Cost 299.99

controller

make it a traditional 360 type controller but stick a Ir controll in the middle ad motion inside

Both the right analog stick side an left come apart so the middle can be used as a opointer wand.

Launch games

shenmuu 3, shenmu 1,2 remake, skies of arcadia 2, shinobi remake, condemned,Cooking mama, madden,

carnival games, sonic minigames?, sonic adventure next gen, Sega sports (like wii sports). Ghost squad FPS

I'm sure Sega figured out that this wouldn't work long before you even thought of it.

TC, I disagree.

The system could not cost more than $199.99. MS and Sony are already in competition for high def distribution, while Ninty is getting all the simpler gamers. Sega would need to challenge Nintendo's crown. They can't launch at $250 though, because then Wii would just drop in price. Sega would need to start the price war. They would need to be $199, and profitable right out the gate. Ninty would drop their price to match, then the battle begins.

It needs some kind of "innovative control input" as well. A standard controll system would make the 360 and ps3 more attractive. Again, they need to go after the 400,000 units a month that Nintendo is moving.

As for the games, Shenmue 3 with 1 & 2 in their original form on the disk, not a remake of them. The next Virtua Fighter, and the games you mentioned, and the launch is good to go.

All they have to do is sell themselves to one of the big 3 and there you go, Sega back in the hardware business.

Honestly all this technology doesnt really cost as much as these developers say...I think SEGA could come back and have HD/BLURay combo drive, and graphics that rival MS and SONY and come out with some good top knoch games. Make a good controler like 360/ps2 and have FREE GOOD ONLINE.....They might make a good 5-7 year run with this and see how it goes from there. ....I have a few Sega systems to this day and still enjoy playing them....COME BACK SEGA!!!

sega should just join up with MS and make games exclsively for 360, then the 360 could be called dreamcast 360x. the controllers are already alike, just the company now. :D

An IR pointer in a traditional gamepad style controller? Err, I cannot imagine being able to manipulate the pointer smoothly with both hands on opposite sides of the controller.

As much as I would love to see a Dreamcast 2 I just can't see it happening. First of all theres not a market open for another console. Which makes it unlikely that SEGA is going to risk millions just to get a console on the market. Two, SEGA first party quality has dropped over the years and I doubt they could make the same quality games. Three, good luck getting third party support to and console that came into this generation years late and with a small fan base. As much as I would love to have the quality of the Dreamcast back, if SEGA would make a new console it wouldn't be able to live up to the name. But we all can still dream. :)

Its easy both the left and right analog portion come off and you have a pointer in the middile

IMo sega should go for the mid range. wih a Ir point they could get some wii ports and some 360 ports .

Wait, so what you're saying is that the controller would be modular?

we need to get RID of Sony or MS because they're too identical. Why bring another console to the market
