My thoughts on the Resistance 2 Beta

So I finally got a Resistance 2 Beta Code from my cousin. I've played around 1-3 good hours threw this game the whole day :shock:

This game is certainly really fun and addictive. It can get a bit repetitive at times but that doesn't really bother me. You can play up to 3 maps (I think), Chicago, San Francisco...and some other one...

Resistance 2 is a great game BUT it does NOT have better graphics then Gears Of War 1 and 2 hands down. On one of the maps, the graphics are really colorful and artistic.

So I have high hopes for this game because it is much better then Resistance 1.

Not even a contest between R2 and Gears when it comes to graphics. Gears 1 > R2

I'm not overly fond of it, but since I started I've found it's something that grows on you. Still way too repetive. Hopefully the final build will have more diversity.

And if close-up textures look bad on R2 it could be because the FOV is a FPS, not a TPS (distance allows you to notice NOT the low-resness of a texture)

scroll to the right and the tree has better textures then any gears pic has.

I was actually LOL'ing at the arm but yes fence and trees are lulz also :lol:

also realize you are comparing a fps to a farther away 3rd person . zoom in to see gears that close and you will see worse.

R2 in tech smashes gears. 60 people with all custom avatars Huge maps with big ships in the background,MUCH farther draw distance...list goes on.

anyways resistance 2 looks absolutely great in motion...lots of detail....very epic levels....IMO better looking than gears 1 but i do have to say that gears 2 looks like it'll look a little better....but regardless i'll be buying and enjoying both amazing looking games

but i get the feeling that i'll be playing R2's multiplayer a bit longer...but i can't say for sure being that i haven't played gears dos yet

thats what i like about it. Makes it kind of like a shooter mmo

man gears of war graphics is overrated but hey I'm use to seeing games like crysis on my pc so my eyes are use to seeing great looking games.

people need to realize epic has low poly count for there characters and slap on a heavy coat of textures

I think Halo3 looks better than Resistence2 :shock:

See, it's weird. R2 DOES have good graphics, if you can, look closely at enemy character models. They're pretty close to if not as good as gears 1. Also, try looking closely at one of the trees, the textures are pretty impressive and then look up at the trees, they have a pretty decent amount of detail and motion. And consider the fact that there are like 20 of trees with the same amount of detail throughout the map.

It's just that they use some weird filter or something. The details kind of blend together and look less impressive than they really are. Plus it's multiplayer graphics, even though for most games, MP and SP graphics are the same, resistance has to be able to hand 60 players with no lag. So Resistance might be an exception where the SP graphics are > than the MP.

Yeah because when the game come's out in 2 weeks the graphics will magically be ten times better :roll:, The game is finished dude, the only thing the beta is for is to test the Multiplayer component.
