Well I've had my 360 since mid March and up until just yesterday it worked perfectly. I've enjoyed countless hours of Gears and Guitar Hero along with Crackdown and a few other of the great games available on the system.

However, yesterday I hooked it up and pressed the power button only to see 3 red lights staring me down. (This was after I had taken a 3 or 4 day break from playing at all) So I did the towel trick and it worked until just a few minutes ago.

But every time I see those lights flashing, it makes me want to buy a PS3, because to my knowledge it doesn't have as many hardware problems as the 360. I think I will buy a PS3 this holiday season for the times when my 360 breaks, because I just have a feeling that it will continue to do so.

Does anyone else feel this way, or have you had a 360 break and that turn you away form the system slightly?

Yeah, I know what you mean. When it broke, I thought about selling it but I have a lot of my friends on Xbox live so I think I will keep my 360 and get a PS3 with it.

and to shake n bake, I think I'm gonna call in tomorrow and continue using the towel trick until I get the new one.

ya alot of them break, atleast they have a 3 year warranty on them though. I hear that the ps3 has a good reliability rate, although my ps1 and ps2 both broke and neither was replaced/fixed by sony.

Maybe for you, but Resistance looks awesome and Warhawk online battles look intense. Along with some other multiplats that like RE5 or Assassin's Creed I now would have a decision on which console to buy them on.

True, the constant string of dissapointments is as reliable as the sun coming up.

Yeah, the 360 is a piece of junk but so were the 3 PS2's that I went through last gen and I never got a free fix from Sony like 360 owners get.

With the extended warrenty that I bought I get 5 years of free fixes so yes it sucks that MS can't build hardware butthe 2-3 week turnaround is cheaper and shorter than the months I had to wait to scrape up the money to replace my PS2's last gen.

I have 2 friends that have had their PS3's replaced by Sony when the updates bricked the systems, and I only know 3 people that have them including myself. Mine is still doing fine but don't kid yourself the PS3 has it's own problems it's just that they are not publicized here and I'm not about to start griping about it and open up that whole can of worms.

Yeah that seems to be a pretty big problem with the 360. I would suggest getting a PS3 even if you do only play it when your 360s at shop. My PS3 has never locked up, crashed, or overheated and i play that thing every day since launch. ;)

I totally agree, the PS3 makes a pretty good backup system. When I had to send my 360 back to the shop I got to play through Kingdom Hearts 2 and Vice city stories.

Thats their fault. The system doesn't just brick up and not work out of nowhere. They probably didn't follow the instuctions nor followed the steps properly. And besides, Sony just recently said only .2% failure, before that Gamestop/Ebgames reported 1% for both the PS3 and Wii. ;)
