all the good games for n64 from either nintnedo or rare.
ps1 may not have had all the epic titles but it sure did have a huge collection of interesting games
FF7 case closedasmallchild
- You can't have fun with friends with FF7
- You can't play too long with only FF7
- You cant have any ''OMG LMAO!'' moments with FF7
FF7 and all JRPGs are overrated
I got no idea how the PS1 won, every one i knew had a N64, i only knew one dude with a PS1.Citizen_Zeroi agree with you, i've thought about this before, i think it really depended where u lived
PSone conquered because of its huge library of RPG games which hit their hey-day during that gen, or so that's what I say. FF7, FF8, FFtactics, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Mana, Legend of Legaia, Tekken series, Twisted Metal Series, Syphon Filter, FF9, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, MGS, Crash Bandicoot 1-3, Spyro the Dragon 1-3, and Wild Arms are among those in my collection currently, not counting those I've downloaded from the PSN.
As I've said before, the PS1 had a crapload of AA games and a few AAA games. The N64 had maybe between a dozen and two dozen AAA games with a couple AA games. Plus, the PS1 had more media features and was much cheaper.SkateGame
I don't understand people saying the N64 had a better library. It's impressive, NOW that you look back on it. But during the actual era it was frustrating as hell to wait so long.
ff7 is overrated and so is super mario 64 in fact u might as well have skipped the entire n64 and ps1 battle because nothing good was brought from it.nyoroismAre you crazy? If we skipped it, no MGS, no 3D Final Fantasy, no 3D Zelda, no 3D Mario... You're losing 3D games for consoles and the Playstation brand. Use your head.

I hope you are joking with this statement. This gen brought gaming into 3d. It's probably been the biggest jump from one gen to the next of any gaming gen.

Ok I really liked MGS but what did PS1 have against games like SSB, Goldeneye, Mario 64... I dont understand why people call the N64 a flop. Did I miss the great PS1 games?Timesplitter14Some great PS1 games that you missed: Resident Evil Series (5 games - 4 great ones) Tomb Raider Series (5 games - 3 great ones) Oddworld Series (2 games - both great) Metal Gear Solid (you already stated) Dino Crisis (2 games - both great) GTA (3 games - all the same so all pretty good) Lost World: Jurassic Park - (1 game - great) Final Fantasy Series - (3 games - 3 great) Parasite Eve Series - (2 games - both great) Destruction Derby Series (2 games - both good) Twisted Metal Series (4 games - 2 good) Point is... there are so many incredible PS1 titles that I could hardly contain myself at the time. I currently own 45 PS1 titles! As far as Nintendo is concerned... I see N64 and Gamecube kind of both on the same track. I only own 9 Gamecube games.
Anyway, to answer the topic question, people saw the PlayStation as a quality electronic whereas they saw the N64 as a toy. The PlayStation was a more "grown up" system and was held in higher regard. Sony wanted the consumers to feel like they had a very sleek piece of equipment. Even the disk cover/top rising slowly up had an effect on people. That's why PS1 did better than N64.
N64 had some great games (even if they were slow to get out), but people idoled the PlayStation system more. N64 had what you mentioned plus Perfect Dark, Zelda, Wave Race, Rayman 2, etc. PlayStation had Crash Bandicoot Warped, Syphon Filter, Final Fantasy 7 & 8, Silent Hill, Ridge Racer, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (better on PS), MGS, Gran Turismo, etc. There are your games.

Because N64 still had "cartridges" and that was so last gen when the PS1 was around.littleman1992Actually that had little to no impact on the war...

I've been told that "The only reality we truly know is our own".
I could say Ocarina of Time doesn't deserve a 10, and I don't think it does, but that doesn't change the fact that it did on Gamespot.
[QUOTE="littleman1992"]Because N64 still had "cartridges" and that was so last gen when the PS1 was around.kittykatz5kActually that had little to no impact on the war... Wrong. They were expensive to develop for, so a lot of developers went to the disc format, which was cheap and easier. One of the main reasons FF7 was on the PS1 and not N64.
I got no idea how the PS1 won, every one i knew had a N64, i only knew one dude with a PS1.Citizen_ZeroI say it about a thousand of times. The reason the PS1 sold so much was merely because of its whether short lifespan. Like you, I've seen more people with N64 than any other console back then. The peoople I knew who had a Ps1 had to replace it nearly every two years........
