[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"][QUOTE="DireToad"][QUOTE="SkateGame"]As I've said before, the PS1 had a crapload of AA games and a few AAA games. The N64 had maybe between a dozen and two dozen AAA games with a couple AA games. Plus, the PS1 had more media features and was much cheaper.Game_Addict247

It wasn't true when you said it before, and it isn't any truer now.

PS1
1 AAAA
25 AAA
137 AA

N64
1 AAAA
19 AAA
37 AA

Everyone knows Chrono Cross does NOT deserve a 10.

I've been told that "The only reality we truly know is our own".

I could say Ocarina of Time doesn't deserve a 10, and I don't think it does, but that doesn't change the fact that it did on Gamespot.

So I guess that means Tony Hawk also deserved a 10 too right?

How the hell is he supposed to link that? It's his opinion (and mine for that matter).

But I want to be a smart-ass...... http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/chronocross/player_review.html?id=275293

PS1 was MUCH better IMO...Games like Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer, Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Tekken, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, FF games, MGS, Need for Speed, etc etc. The biggest thing for me though was the sound...PS cd's had tons of room for quality sound fx and music while the N64 was stuck with stuff barely better and sometimes worse sounding than SNES. Take Mortal Kombat for example, yes the load times were a bit of a pain on Playstation but the music and sounds were perfect while the N64 stuff actually sounded WORSE than SNES MK3!

[QUOTE="asmallchild"]FF7 case closedTimesplitter14

- You can't have fun with friends with FF7-There were great moments of me watching my brother play through that game.

- You can't play too long with only FF7-FF7 is a pretty long game.  Not including all the extra items and stuff you can find.

- You cant have any ''OMG LMAO!'' moments with FF7-You obviously didn't play that game.  They had endless amounts of "OMG LMAO."  Barret's endless cursing and more...

FF7 and all JRPGs are overrated-I'm not a huge fan of them, but FF7 is on a whole other level.

  The bold is my responses.

Well you have to look at how many games each console had. The PS1 had over 1000, whereas the N64 had a lot less, however both had pretty good games, although the N64 was a lot more consistant with original titles like Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye 007 and Banjo Kazooie. Really for me the N64 revolutionized a lot of things about 3D gaming and controls, there were tons of great games for the N64 just like the PS1.

No, just FF7. I think it was Aeris.

Nobody would stop talking about Aeris. They still won't stop talking about Aeris.

She was stabbed in the back, OKAY?! She's not coming back!

the very best N64 games were better then very best ps1 games. the big difference is the ps1 consistently had solid games being released. crushed21
Ya I agree. N64's best were better than PSone's best(except for FF7 which is my fav game). But Sony gave you more games worth buying.

My cousins and myself spent countless hours playing goldeneye, wcw and mariokart.

but we also spent countless months playing Gran Turismo.  i think it was just a matter of consumers having to wait too long between great n64 releases.

I owned both systems (and a Saturn.) In the US, the N64 launced a year later, and had a huge game drought. For the first 6 months you could play Mario 64, Golden Eye, Shadows of the Empire, or launch garbage. In the same period, PS1 had over a dozen great games. 1 great game every other month on N64 got old...fast. Also, after Mario 64, there were tons of "me too" knock offs on N64 that all felt like the same game.--just like the glut of side-scrolling platformers in the 16bit era, but now a bunch of Mario64 3D clones. PS1 had lots of games that were just..different (Carnage Heart comes to mind.) Basically PS1 had more (and average of $10 cheaper) great games than N64.

I love the N64, but that's a retrospective opinion on it now. Back then, yes it had very nice diamonds in the rough here and there. Problem with the N64 is the "here and there", as in you better enjoy this game for the next quarter or more, b/c the next note worthy game won't be out for a long time.

The PSX during that gen was pretty consistent with it's rate of pushing out quality titles, and that rate trumped Nintendo's rate.

It really comes down to 3rd party support. Nintendo had the 1st and 2nd party support (Rare), but they completely lacked the 3rd party support to fill in development gaps. Sad really, but their fault in the end.
