Name a game series that was top notch but now has gone "downhill" sinc

Age of Empires, Sonic, Megaman, Pokemon

AOE2 was perhaps the best RTS game ever, but AOE3 blew hard.

Tenchu - First was awsome..sometimes I still play it. Second was ok. The one on PS2 was fine as well but the lates one on Xbox 360 was just terrible.

Crash Bandicoot - As other have said it, as soon as it left N.D. it got ruined.

Sonic - I remember the old days when I played Sonic the Hedgehog and loved it....now I feel like throwing up any time I see a new Sonic game.

NFS - Oh man that series got ruined so bad. NFS Most Wanted was on the right track but they ruined it with Carbon and ProStreet is terrible...terrible, terrible. What an abismal game that is.

Tomb Raider - I could cry on this one...this series was so close to me. My second PSX game was Tomb Raider and ever since than I loved it....Loved Tomb Raider 1,2 & 3. Than 4 was still ok but it didn't had the magic the first 3 did. than 5 was a mess and Angel of Darkness was the low point of that series. Legend somewhat revied the series but still it's not even on the leve of Tomb Raider 4 for me. It was extreamly short and not much Tomb Raiding. Than they released Anniversary for PS2 and 360 ( we should tell them that there is a console called the PS3) and that was a huge dissapointment for a long time fan who has been there since the beginning. Many memorable places got left out especialy from the Roman stage. I hope that Underwold can bring back the magic that the original 3 had!!

And my Biggest one:

Phantasy Star games. Wow I LOVED them so much as normal RPG's now they just when down hill as a MMO(if you can call it a MMO) PS4 was just AWSOMENESS man I would have loved to see a part 5

O wait! Also Shining Force games. I LOVED 1 and 2 and 3 (even though we were robbed of 2 of the part 3 chapters) But then they changed everything about the series and wow did that suck.

i agree on MGS TC (dont know about ure other one though...never played that series). loved the PS1 game....just couldnt care less after MGS2.

sonics gone down the toilet a bit.

starwing. great snes and N64 games...and then it went to antartica (ninty...play freespace and then make a new starwing game like that....simple fix. also ref freelancer for controls...simple).

halo. crackin first game....and then the series just stud still. imho halo 3 and 2 feel like expansion packs rather than really inventive advances over halo1. its the same 30 second of fun over and over again...not upped to 45 or 60...its the same 30.

tomb raider (though its had a bit of a revival recently).

I think that Resident Evil went downhill with Resident Evil 4. Not a bad game, mind you, but a bad installment in the Resident Evil series. It had absolutely no Resident Evil feeling to it whatsoever. I also had a few gameplay gripes with Resident Evil 4, most noteworthy being that I found the PS2 versions controls frustrating to say the least. Hopefully I can actually enjoy Resident Evil 5 when it comes out, even if it won't have that Resident Evil feel that I crave.

I think your wrong about Metal Gear.

I'm not saying that Legend was bad....it just wasn't as good as it could have been! Same goes to Anniversary!

I'm hopeing that Underworld will bring back the awsomeness that TR once had!

Its been a while since perfect. theres a LONG way to go up now days. with all these new standards.

here are my picks:

Need for speed- NFS Undergound 1 and 2 was great, most wanted was good but the last 2 just totally stink. Carbon and pro street are a disgrace to the need for speed name.

Metal Gear Solid- Metal Gear solid 1 was nothing less then a true masterpiece. MGS 2 was good but kinda strange. Metal Gear solid 3 I believe just stunk. Later substance came out and got higher reviews but playing as big boss with the camo was boring.
