I think games can be revolutionary if they introduce something new into gaming (which Wii Sports does not), but not by how much they sale.
And the game introduced new simplified controls that anyone can enjoy while maintaining an enjoyable fun experience.
The game doesnt introduce new controlls, like I said before there has already been sports games which use motion controlls, and Wii sports does not differ much from them.
Name me a collection of sports games that offer unique and simple controls that any person can understand and enjoy.

all of these games are sports games which use motion controlls, there are probably a great deal more of games which are like these.
And are any of those games simple enough for anyone to enjoy? The thing that makes Wii Sports so unique is that it's one controller that you use for all the games. The Wii is a combination of simplicity and motion controls.
