Here you go:

http://kotaku.com/5028954/npds-pc-sales-charts-july-6+12

This is another reason why I am leaving pc gaming. The prime demographic is becoming bored housewives.

Oh but digital distribution right? Which game outsold Nancy Drew then? Steam doesn't provide sales numbers, and I doubt that anything topped Nancy.

Nancy Drew. Ugh.

I thought about keeping my gaming pc for clear sky but I think I may just sell my system and put it towards a bigger plasma.

The pc scene is becoming dominated with sims type crap, wow and console port hand-me-downs. Oh and we often get to wait for the hand-me-downs in an effort to get us to buy the console version. Waiting is fun.

I bought a 360 and am quite happy with it, especially because of the fall lineup. PS3 is a good system too but I don't care about blu-ray and am more interested in the 360 exclusives.

PC Gaming magazine had GTAIV on the cover even though it hasn't been officially announced. Pathetic.

In 2002 I remember having too many pc games to play. I couldn't even keep track of them all.

PC gaming now sux. Not enough people are paying for games, too many pirates and too many people spending their money on WoW. You know something is wrong when Lucas Arts is ditching it.

Nancy freaking Drew. I'm going 360+laptop, too much good stuff going to the 360.

Nancy freaking Drew.

jaisimar_chelse

Maybe because you're including the entire backlog of pc games which is rather disingenuous?

Big budget pc exclusives are on their way out. Gaming execs look at a list like that and ask why they should invest 10 million in a stalker type game when a low-budget game like Nancy Drew could return a greater profit. That is the problem.

Most of the pc exclusives that are coming out this year don't even require a high end gaming pc. I don't see why everyone is in denial of how bad things have gotten for pc gaming this generation.

I'm supposed to get excited over Diablo 3? I can play that on my laptop. The consoles have a better fall lineup.

which console has a better lineup?

slickchris7777

Both do. There are some pc exclusives this fall but like I pointed out most of them don't require a high end gaming pc, so anyone can play them. That leaves what? Crysis warhead? Whoopdy-doo, I'd rather play silent hill or fable. I actually got bored with crysis and stopped playing it. Too easy and the AI was awful. I guess it would have been better if I didn't notice how much of it reminded me of far cry 2. Warhead looks like far cry 4. Yawn.

Funny how the xbox got a rep for just having shooters. Now xbox is the rpg console and the big budget pc exclusives are shooters. What happened?

I can't believe he has started a new thread to bash PC gaming. Look guy's, don't waste your breath. There is no getting through to him. I tried on the other thread he invaded, as did many others. He does not want to hear facts, nor does he speak logic. I for one wish him the best once he sells his PC.

I know in 12 months time he will look at PC gaming and think "what have i done" lol.

I'm like 90% sure this is exquisitely subtle satire making fun of the "I'm selling my Wii!" threads thats are rediculously stupid. However, I've seen an incredible ammount of stupid people in System Wars, so I can't place that other 10% because some people here are just this stupid.

Well at least you provided a link so I know what you are talking about.

Anyways you provided me a link of high scoring pc games which includes sports managers and casual adventure games as a response to my opinion of pc gaming. Great.
PC HAS HIGHEST SCORING FLASH GAMES DUDE!

So what.

Listing a bunch of pc games and their respective gamespot scores doesn't negate the fact that nothing could touch Nancy Drew in July. It also doesn't change my opinion that pc gaming is going casual and people that want games like stalker are getting ignored. It makes more financial sense for EA to fund a Sims doggie sweater expansion pack than an rpg that makes use of high-end pc hardware. That's the harsh reality that is pc gaming today.

The PC has the best line-up for 2008. Crysis warhead, Clear skies, spore, Empire Total war, Space Siege, cryostasis, demigod. Not to mention all the superior multiplats like L4D, Far cry 2 and fallout 3.

dc337

Yeah, I'm sure no consoles games in history have ever been on a cover of a magazine before being officially announced.

I'm not even a PC gamer, but GTA IV is obviously going to PC eventually, just like the other titles have. I don't have to like PC gaming to figure that one out...

And Wii Play is the best-selling game of the current gen of consoles, and possibly the last as well. Fact of life: games with broader appeal are going to sell more.

jaisimar_chelse

So what are you saying? That a game outsold Nancy Drew on the international market? Which one would that be?

What should gaming executives take from this then? That only the U.S. pc gaming market is dominated by casual crap? What an appealing platform the pc has become. Oh and forget the UK market too since it is like the US. There goes most of your market.

So there are millions of Europeans out there ready to buy your high-end pc game? Hopefully those execs don't know that piracy rates are even higher in Europe.

Look at the new battlefield game we pc gamers are getting. A cartoony one that can be played on any pc. Great.

u work for nvidia and now ur getting angry that now one will buy ur cards to play the latest games , games which are required to have fun and not staring at the monitor picking out jaggies and what not.

P.S. - ever heard of DD i.,e. steam, direct2drive, stadork impulse, ea dl manger, etc... ??????

It was sarcasm directed at you for making a point about pc gaming that had no relevance to my original post.

Far more people are buying Nancy Drew and Sims expansion packs than games like stalker and those casual games are much cheaper to make. That is the problem. Providing me with a list of games that have been released and their scores doesn't change this.

What's the big deal, casual & mainstream games have always sold more than hardcore games on the PC. It's common sense. There are a lot of casual games on the PC, because almost everyone has at least one PC in their house. Hell, my grandma has a PC.

Bu.. bu... but teh PC gaming is dying!

So u are Leaving pc gaming because one casual game was first at sales for aweek in retail at US which is not the biggest market in pc gaming. Europe is biggest market in pc gaming from US and as for digital distribution if not bigger in US than retail probably equal. BTW during june Age of Conan and Mass Effect dominated pc retail sales at USA link ( yeah like a casual game never appeared first in console sales)

And does anybody forcing you to buy nancy drew or what? and you complain?. Then what about all the Wii an DS titles that are dominate the console sales ( yeah i'm quite sure that those are quite hardcore ) and also wii dominates hardware sales? And exactly what is wrong with casual titles?

Not enough hardcore pc games coming out?

Stalker Clear sky

Crysis Warhead

Galactic Civilizations

Spore ( and dont one of the stupid that say spore is casual )

Total War

Space Siege

Warhammer online

Chrome 2

Zeno Clash

Cryostasis

Left4Dead

Silent hunter 4

GTR evolution

Fifa manager 09

Red Alert 3

Trials 2

Audiosurf

Guitar rising

There games for all tastes even casuals and those besides red alert 3 and L4D are exclusives and red alert 3 and L4D are gonna be better on PC ( is a strategy game and a FPS game made by valve so is a given which version is better)

And what about all the multiplatform which at least they gonna look better on PC ( Far cry 2, Dark void, Wic soviet assault, Rage which is made by a pc centralised company , Brothers in arms )

Finally you complain about pc games getting battlefield heroes. First of DICE said they develop 5 games and we know 3 of them and 1 of the other 2 is certainly battlefield 3 ( they gave a hint for it when they said they are not abandoning the hardcore pc gamers ). And what is wrong with battlefield heroes which seems like a lot of fun and is FREE and yet you complain for something is free

The problem is that single-player, high-end mature games have been slowly moving from pcs to consoles.

High-end pc games are no longer a lucrative market. The money is in multi-plats, with consoles being the baseline platform. PCs will always have better graphics but the differences will be minimal as more games are built multiplatform. This combined with the fact that some games are going console only (force unleashed) means that pc gaming has lost its edge.

High-end pc gaming is doomed to delayed hand-me-down ports and casual friendly junk like sims/wow/drew. It still has some benefits like free online and mouse/keyboard support but the overall landscape has gone from bad to worse.

I'm not leaving because of Nancy Drew specifically; her domination of the charts is more of an example of all that is wrong with pc gaming. I'm just sick of mega-hardware pc gaming. I don't think it is worth the effort anymore.

There are more casual games on PC than on consoles. But there are also more hardcore games on PC than consoles.

These two can peacefully co-exist without the other one "dying".

People playing Nancy Drew won't make me enjoy SOASE or Stalker any less.

[QUOTE="dc337"][QUOTE="slickchris7777"]

which console has a better lineup?

jaisimar_chelse

What happened?

win, just pure win.

Dude, who cares about North America? It's the least important gaming market anyway.

No, not really. It's still either the second or first gaming market. After Japan and then EU.

Actually, it's the third, it fell behind Asia and EU. I've read it somewhere a few months ago. Google it.

The PC gaming market isnt shrinking towards casuals, its casuals joining the PC gaming market and making it explode in size. You are looking at this from the wrong angle.

The hell are you talking about? Do you even take alook at "Why its good to be a pc gamer threads" in the pc gaming forum?.. And the first part makes me laugh, EVERY ONE HAS A PC.. Say it three times to your self, then take a hammer to your head till you understand that casuals are always gonna dominate that.. And I honestly don't understand why you should care about that what so ever? I guess I should start pointing out that the Wii which people deem as casual is dominating the charts.. OMGZ I guess console gaming is going to fail!

Sigh. Canada is in North America, yes, it is true. And AU, SA, Africa and Antartica are all lower down in the gaming indusrty.
