The Wii was a HUGE success due in most part to it's control system. It is the first console that you only need common sense to use. Not many buttons, you just wave the wimote and that produces actions on the screen. Anyone can do it and more importantly, everyone wants to try it.
Another big feature of the Wii is that it is a great party system. If you have a bunch of friends over your house, well a game like Metal Gear is terrible in that scenario. The Wii caters to those situations and those type of gaming scenarios.
For me I like great traditional deep gameplay but I admit that it would be foolish for MS and Sony to ignore this new market that Nintendo has tapped into. Enter the Sony Move and Natal.
They are both geared to do the same thing, bring in the casuals and of course, they are great for party games. You can argue that move is more precise than wimote but let's be honest, casuals won't notice and won't care. And natal doesn't even have a wand to wave but so what, it's not as if any of these types of games will convert the hardcore gamers.
I think all of these systems will get a lot of shovelware and do well for what they are meant to be. I imagine the PS3 will get a ton of Wii shovelware ports. Same for Natal with maybe some small changes.
Don't get me wrong, there will probably be a few cool games for these control systems that even hardcore gamers will get into. But this is mostly a casual thing.
Anyway, now to the big advantage Natal has over Wimote and Move. This is a big one that surprisingly no one has mentioned. With Natal you don't need to buy extra controllers! If you have 4 or 5 friends over, they can all just play. All you have to do is scan them with the system and they are in. And you never have to worry about controllers breaking, running out of battery or even worse, accidentally throwing it at your new 65" HDTV!
With the Wii you have to buy wimotes and nunchucks. If 4 friends are over you have to have 4 full controllers or they are out. Move is more advanced than the wimote but maybe that's not so good if you have a lot of friends. How much will 4 extra move wands cost?
Natal gives you dead on perfect accuracy much more advanced than what the Wii uses. The move I will say is the same, they are both more advanced systems but the Move will run you a huge bill if you have a lot of friends.
Another advantage the 360 and PS3 will have over the Wii is GRAPHICS. The more I think about it the more the wii looks to be in trouble. The potential is there for the fall of the wii. Unless of course Nintendo gives us the Wii HD.
