Naughty Dog or Retro Studios?

Retro Studios.

Naughty Dog creates their own franchises, so I can give them extra kudos for creativity. However, I haven't liked very many of their games. Are they typically high quality? Yes, but they aren't my cup of tea.

I've liked all of the Metroid Prime games, and Donkey Kong Country Returns was an excellent throwback to traditional DK platforming. Sure, Retro didn't invent any of those franchises, but they did a fantastic job with them regardless. In all, I prefer Retro out of the two.

If its only last and this generation then I choose Retro. If you include the PSone era then Naughty Dog.

I say retro They brought back Donkey kong.

When Retro will create a new AAA IP themselves, then maybe they will be worthy to be even compared to Naughty Dog. All they do is work on already existing Nintendo IPs, it's considerably easier to make something good out of solid foundations than creating something good from scratch. Tykain

Wow... didn't even think of that..... great response. That being said.. if one had to go i say Retro should hit the bucket and ND should stay because it makes a difference.

Tough one, both game series are great. But ND is easily the most talented dev team this gen, period. And there games have won more GOTY awards than any other (hell just won more awards period).

They are going to do it once again with The Last of Us, everyone that has seen it in person says it will be a game that changes the industry forever, and will be a game that defines this gen. It will be GOTY in 2013, no doubt about it.

It also has the best graphics I have ever freakin' seen! Even looks better than UC3, which is a testemant to just how much power the PS3 has.

Naughty dog's been around longer, so they obviously have alot more great games under their belt.

I agree, but I can't call them Gods because it's against my spirtual/religious values to refer to a man or company or item as God. It's pagan to me and devalues God, just my views as all.

You have every right to say it however, just I have to find something different to refer to them as. Like Naughty Kings or something :P

ND...

One of my biggest failures as an open-minded gamer was my inability to enjoy the Metroid Prime games. They're really well designed, but something about it simply didn't click. The world was so large and the map so difficult to understand that I could never tell one wormhole pipe from the other. I enjoyed Corruption the most due to the controls. They're fun. So, I guess Naughty Dog. Neither developer wipes the floor with the other, but I really like Uncharted plus Jak and Daxter. NAPK1NS

It was kinda weird, for me I got an odd MGS vibe from Metroid Prime. I know it makes no sense, but for some reason I did. The series later becomes so hard it's not even funny, it just kicks your ass without mercy.

Still good though. But ND is the better developer with the better games no doubt.

Retro hasn't even created their own IP yet. All they do is make what Miyamoto tells them to make and they don't have that much freedom with the IP's either. There is no comparison between these 2. ND is way ahead of Retro. :lol:

I haven't touched Uncharted, but cinematic games with minimal gameplay are not exactly my cup of tea. 1oh1nine1

Naughty Dog, no doubt. They make best games the world has ever seen. Uncharted, The Last of Us, Jak & Daxter and Crash Bandicoot! On PS3, you can have fun with all of them thanks to HD Collections and PS Store. Happy times!

While I've enjoyed Retro Studios' games when I played them, Naughty Dog is one of the best developers on any platform over the last 15 years. Their games have been iconic every generation since the PS1, they've made critically acclaimed games in 3 separate genres, technically they are the match of anyone, and they have been a large influence or the source talent for other well-regarded developers (Insomniac, Ready at Dawn).

Retro is good, but they aren't THAT good.

Naughty Dog. If Retro's games this gen were as good as they were last gen, that may be a different story, and even then Naughty Dog would be a hard one to beat.

I'll take Retro over ND anyday. The Metroid Prime series is absolutely fantastic.

Retro makes better games as a whole. Naughty Dog got a lot of fame this gen but their actual gameplay isn't comparable to Retro at all.
