Ok Just looking for help on my choice between a PS3 and a 360. First off the only purpose of this new system is madden and NCAA football. Those are really the only games I play. Also I never play online so any of that doesnt matter. The price diff. between the 2 systems doesnt matter as well. Just for the football games alone which system is better. Also I dont have a Plasma or LCD TV just a big screen I bought about 6 years ago. Also other then the core system what other things are needed to be purchased...memory cards.....etc. Thanks guys

Get a 360 if you only care about price difference...

I played Madden 07 on my friend's PS3 and my 360 and there isn't much graphical difference. At times, the 360 version looked better due to better shadowing effects. Plus, 360 is cheaper than PS3, so I would get 360.

369 is pretty much a cheaper ps3, since they have the same games. I suggest you get a 360.

I have to agree, one man's system(s) is well their own. Research it up, check out what games coming, figure what you want out of it, then make an educated guess from there.

Get the 360. It has superior graphics and if you aren't using online then there's no extra cost.

Also, if you don't have an HDTV the the PS3's bluray player seems like a massive waste.

In all honesty the sports games are going to be neck in neck for graphics the deciding factor should be which controller you like best.  I always played ncaa on the ps2 so that made my decision for me.  The 360 is nice to, but you shoudl go to best buy or something and try out both to see which you feel more comfortable with.  Using the oh man i dont know the controller scheme when getting whooped isnt fun going to fly with your buddies. lol

Get the 360 if your not taking gaming really seriously. There is no point in paying 600 dollars for a game system if you dont take the gaming seriously. Especially when you have to pay for a blu ray or motion sensing or 60gb hard drive if youll never use em. If your just gonna play some games offline and not do anything else, just get a core xbox 360 and a memory card.

Get the PS3. It has the power of Blu Ray and next year there won't be a football game on the 360 because of it's limited hardware. Also your 360 will set fire to you friends and family and it may or may not cause radiation posioning. And when the mutation spreads your whole town will be put under quarantine and soon enough all the people you love will surely become zombies.

Which system did you play them on last generation?  I have a 360 and a PS3.  I tend to play games on my 360 more than my PS3, which I mostly use as a Bluray player.   Like yourself, I play NCAA Football extensively and it's probably my favorite game of all time.  However, I'll be buying it for the PS3.  The reason is that I've gotten so used to the PSone/DualShock/DualShockII/Sixaxis button layout and controller that it feels awkward when playing Madden/NCAA on the 360.  So that's a major factor in my decision.

Given that you don't have an HDTV, my 1st thought is to get the Xbox 360. The Blu Ray player in PS3 won't be useful to you since you can't view the higher res of hidef movies, and won't make a difference in sports games. But even with the SDTV, you will see great next gen visuals in the games both on X360 and PS3. However so far most multiplatform games (and most newer games in general) look better on Xbox 360 than PS3.

Working with that SDTV, check the back to see if it has component inputs (Red/Green/Blue ports). If so, great news, the component HD cables that X360 has is not only for HD, but is compatible with standard component as well and gets you the best possible picture. It's the set up I have with mine. If there's no component on your TV, I would recommend getting the S-video cable. (only sold seperately)

If you bought the 360 Core, you would need to buy memory storage seperately. The 64MB memory card costs $40, but if you buy the Pro model it already comes with the 20 GB HDD - a huge difference there. That may seem like overkill but there's another advantage. Having the HDD allows you to go online. Now I did see you say you have no interest playing online, but there are other reasons to get a Live account. Just getting a Silver account which is FREE, will allow you to access Marketplace which is loaded with free content. Namely game demos and trailers. It's a great way to try out the library of 360 games before you buy, and trailers will also keep you abreast of what's to come.

The way it works out - Core with 64 MB memory unit (needed to save games) will cost $340. Pro with 20 GB HDD (save games plus get free Marketplace content) comes to $400. For that $60 difference you get a much better deal. Plus Core comes packaged with wired controller, Pro comes with wireless.

Well it sounds like.....they are both the same systems for what Im looking for...the only difference is the price...and also the controls/controllers. I am a PS2 guy...the the 360 controller would take a min to get use to...but not a big deal. Also Longterm wise do U guys see a difference or both remaining equal?

It depends on the game. Some will allow you you control character movement either with the analog sticks, or the d-pad. Your choice. In others, the d-pad is used strictly for switching functions - Gears of War and RainbowSix Vegas being examples - so you can only control movement with the thumb sticks.

I don't know about the sports games, never play them.

I would say PS3 because if you ever decide to venture online it will be free.

It's kinda hard to recomment one over the other though if you only care about Madden and NCAA considering they are on both systems.  How about telling us what other games you play?

It depends.  Its possibly like these. 1. Buy a PS3 and your 1st few moments is the memorable orchestra sound that bleeds your wallet. or 2. Buy an XBOX 360 and be amazed by gears followed the the amazing 3 rings of death. You decide.
