Ok Just looking for help on my choice between a PS3 and a 360. First off the only purpose of this new system is madden and NCAA football. Those are really the only games I play. Also I never play online so any of that doesnt matter. The price diff. between the 2 systems doesnt matter as well. Just for the football games alone which system is better. Also I dont have a Plasma or LCD TV just a big screen I bought about 6 years ago. Also other then the core system what other things are needed to be purchased...memory cards.....etc. Thanks guys

Given that you don't have an HDTV, my 1st thought is to get the Xbox 360. The Blu Ray player in PS3 won't be useful to you since you can't view the higher res of hidef movies, and won't make a difference in sports games. But even with the SDTV, you will see great next gen visuals in the games both on X360 and PS3. However so far most multiplatform games (and most newer games in general) look better on Xbox 360 than PS3.
Working with that SDTV, check the back to see if it has component inputs (Red/Green/Blue ports). If so, great news, the component HD cables that X360 has is not only for HD, but is compatible with standard component as well and gets you the best possible picture. It's the set up I have with mine. If there's no component on your TV, I would recommend getting the S-video cable. (only sold seperately)
If you bought the 360 Core, you would need to buy memory storage seperately. The 64MB memory card costs $40, but if you buy the Pro model it already comes with the 20 GB HDD - a huge difference there. That may seem like overkill but there's another advantage. Having the HDD allows you to go online. Now I did see you say you have no interest playing online, but there are other reasons to get a Live account. Just getting a Silver account which is FREE, will allow you to access Marketplace which is loaded with free content. Namely game demos and trailers. It's a great way to try out the library of 360 games before you buy, and trailers will also keep you abreast of what's to come.
The way it works out - Core with 64 MB memory unit (needed to save games) will cost $340. Pro with 20 GB HDD (save games plus get free Marketplace content) comes to $400. For that $60 difference you get a much better deal. Plus Core comes packaged with wired controller, Pro comes with wireless.
