Okay so I own a wii and yes I am a Nintendo fan. So lets get that out of the way.

Now my main concern:

I'm planning on buying an HDTV very soon as in this week and I would like to have high def gaming because as we all know nintendo is a non-believer in that.

I can't decide between Ps3 and 360. I like the content on both consoles, halo3 ff13 etc...

So, What i would like is if you guys could help me decide which is the better console for me in terms of my personal interests.

I don't know alot about the line ups for either one because i mostly follow the Wii.

What i look for when i buy games: platformer, rpg(wrpg, jrpg), action/adventure, racing, anime stuff, fun shooters(cod4, halo imo), anything that gives you a new experience and is fun.

Now you can see why I bought a Wii.

My second concern is the multiplats. What is really the difference between the two consoles when it comes to games like cod4, orange box, fifa etc..

Finally: Which one in terms of your oppinion has a brighter future. ps3 looks like its starting its engines and with blu-ray it looks pretty but 360 has the online community and frankly the library is absolutely fantastic.

Again this is opinion generated and please no fanboy responses. If you say 360 is better and has a brighter future than ps3 and vice versa than please state reasons. If i wanted to hear its better cause of halo or mgs4, i would go into a gr 6 classroom and ask the 10 year olds there.

thanks again~

Yeah and that is my problem, i know ps3 will deliver in 08 but will the 360. Thats my main concern. Ps3 will have mgs3 and 360 doesn't really have any exlusive hits coming out unless i lack brains and don't know. Do you think 360 is a good investment for the future?

I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but I'd go with the 360 simply because you know it already has a strong library and great online service. The PS3 has a great deal of potential with its BR drive and services like Home, plus some huge titles like FFXIII, MGS4 and GT5, but so far nothing has really materialized. The PS3 could very well end up being the best platform this gen, but so far it isn't. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush, and since you seem to have a very broad taste in games you can't make a bad decision either way.

Look at the game library and decide for yourself. All you'll get here are a bunch of bias fanboy responses.

Impact exclussives IMO... 360: Halo, Gears of War PS3: Rachet & Clank, Haze

Well to be honest with you, the 360 and PS3 share a lot of Multiplatform games between them.

But I would say if you want really good games, go with the 360. It has a more than impressive line up of games in 2008, much better than the PS3's lineup. PS3 only has 3 or 4 good games coming out in 2008, thats it. Anybody who tells you otherwise is just making stuff up. PS3 fanboys seem to think that just because a game is exclusive, its going to be great......which obviously is not true.

The Xbox 360 has so many huge game franchises, its got the Halo series, Bioshock series, Mass Effect series, Fable series and many many others. (There are so many infact I cannot think of them all)

Also, I dont know if this will help you make your choice, but lots and lots of celebrities own Xbox 360's over PS3 and you can add them to your friends on Xbox Live. I have like 5 NBA players on my friends list :) If rich celebrities choose Xbox 360 over PS3, then you know the 360 cant be to bad :P

360s multiplats in general just had a more stable framerate, but the gap is closing unless it's a shady port, but games like devil may cry 4 and burnout paradise just about to come out are the exact same game no difference what so ever, for multiplats it really comes down to, do you like the 360 or ps3 controller better, also dont forget home is coming out for ps3 in the next few months.

I have all three systems and they all have there positives and negatives. In all honesty though my 360 gets more use.Xboxlive is great and i play cod4 and halo3 on it almost daily. Also the 360 has some good games coming out this year like ninja gaiden 2,lost odyssey, splinter cell conviction,fable2 and several others that escape me at the moment, also a bunch of multiplats.I dont wanna sell the ps3 to short though because as we all know it has a blue ray player built in it and i love watching blue ray movies. Also the ps3 has killzone2,metal gear solid 4 and little big planet coming out this year.It really all comes down to personal preference and i dont think youll go wrong with either. If i had to choose only one though id go with the 360 because of the existing library, future releases and especially xboxlive.

Depends on the game. Some (especially those released early in the PS3's lifespan) are significantly better on the 360, some are pretty much even (like CoD 4) and some will perform better on the PS3 (Burnout Paradise, Oblivion). But on the whole multiplats are virtually identical.

Honestly i dont really see much of a difference as far as multiplats go.They pretty much look the same in my eyes. The big selling point for me is that i like playing the multiplayer portions over xboxlive and i prefer the 360 controller.I pretty much only have my ps3 for there exclusives and the blue ray player.

I have had the same problem as you. But in the end I gotten the Wii and PS3. I haven't heard of any news of the 360 having an action/adventure game or plat-former. Also, if you haven't played any old PS2 or PS1 games then get a PS3. Furthermore, the PS3 has the Sixxaxis controller which is almost like the Nintendo Wii's motion controller. I hope this advice hopes.

Well, yes there really is only 3 or 4 good games coming out for the PS3.

But what PS3 fanboys do is, they try to trick people by making a huge list of average average games. First of all, LittleBigPlanet is NOT going to be a good game, you cannot hype that at all. Killzone 2, the first one was terrible what says the second one will be better?

If you are hyping Killzone 2, you must be hyping Red Steel 2 then I assume?

But do not get me wrong, the 360 only has about 7 or 8 really good games coming out and thats just about it, still....... its more than the PS3 has.

hmmm this guy just made me aware of the fact that system wars is really really really not a good place to ask for advice when it comes to which console to get. id just say to the TC do some research and see what games interest you more for this year.

Yes you have quite a tough choice there.

I can't remember all the genres you listed, but I remember u saying Racing and fun shooters. Shooter Fans NEED the xbox 360, whether they are mouse players or controller players can change that, but for console shooters, 360 is good. Halo, GOW, COD, BIOSHOCK etc. all fantastic. Now I guess you could consider GTA IV a shooter, and if ur anticipating that, the 360 isHANDS DOWN the best version, not neccessarily because that is what the game is made for (does ANYBODY know) but because the 360 version features 20 hours more content of exlusive gameplay.

Also, the racers are pretty good on 360, You have NFS, Colin McRae, Forza, PG3 & 4 etc.

You may have noticed I've mentioned a couple of multi plats. In most cases, particularly in the generations earlier titles, the 360 versions hav run better, with a few exceptions. Oblivion is the only multi plat I can think of off the top of my head, but there's probably more.

I've played all 3 consoles extensively. The wii is sort of in it's own category for me, as a party game (not a bad thing, just not a sit down and play system for me) but for the HD, media centre consoles, I perfer the 360, mainly for it's games library, the multiplats, and the controller. I've always found the xbox controller better than PS. PS NEEDS a new model BADLY!

ANyway all in all, I reccomend the 360, but don't discourage yourself from buying a PS3 later on, It's still a good buy, once cheaper with an expanded GL.

let me tell u my opinion... the 360 (at the moment) has a whole lot of better games than the ps3 such as Mass Effect (rpg; incredibly intuitive and really epic). it aslo has dead rising, gears of warand other exclusive titles like fable 2, halo3 (awesome multiplayer experience) and a game wanted by most jrpg fans, lost odyssey.it's got bioshock andassassin's creed as welland i am personally awaitingea's next game bad company and rockstar's gta4.. of coursemany of these games are on the ps3 as well.. however what you have to look at is first ur budget and then the games u r mostly interested in. from the way i look at it i think u shud buy the 360 bcz it already has a lot of good titles in the market and a few great upcoming titles and u'll probably gonna want to have many great games in ur library from the 1st day. BUT if u are patient manand are a fan of the ps3's great upcoming titles (mgs4, little big planet, killzone 2 etc) then u shud buy the ps3 with the blu ray drive.

The 360 is past its prime. It still has numerous problems (RROD)...and recent reports of Live sucking. Online for the 360 costs $50/year. The PS3s Golden Age starts in 2008. The PS3 has the most room to grow (technologically speaking)...The PS3 online is Free. 360 has more games out atm....but many of 360's biggest game go to the PC..so if u have (or plan on getting a high end PC) a 360 is a no - no.

It really depends on what you want. Have a look at the games, see what consoles your friends have and then make a decision from there. Two things i would bear in mind though;

1. If you buy a PS3, you will be also getting the best blu-ray player on the market. Sonce you're getting a HDTV, thats a big win.

2. The 360 is a cheaper console, but check to see how many addons you need (wireless adapter, live, controller chargers etc) and see if it becomes more expensive when you add it all up.

I spend ages typing a post to get this...

Messages cannot be blank. Ensure your post contains non-whitespace characters and does not consist solely of formatted or quoted text.

Annoying!!!

So rather than re-type its all, i'll simply say, go with the 360 - it beats the PS3 in every gaminggenre

LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, Motorstorm 2........are good games? Damn.......

Well I guess since the first Killzone sucked really bad, so will the second one. Well I guess you guys can start hyping Red Steel 2 as well.....

LittleBigPlanet looks like a game which can get very boring and repetitive, you seriously cannot call that a good game.

Anyway to the Topic creator, I would seriously get a 360. A lot of these PS3 fanboys are just outright lying to you about the games for 08.

You just look at the lineup PS3 has for yourself and you can see. PS3 only has MSG4, Final Fantasy 13, Resistance 2 and you know what thats just about it lol! (I most likely have forgotten one or two of the big PS3 games for 08, please feel free to correct me) The rest of the PS3 games coming out in 08 are pretty much "status unknown" right now. The PS3 fanboys are just hyping ANY exclusive game coming out on the PS3 now, even if it is garbage.

Get a Xbox 360! Its just entering its prime right now in 08 with some awesome lineup of games coming out, and the RRoD problems are slowly getting better! There has never been a better time to get a 360 than now!

Well to be honest with you, the 360 and PS3 share a lot of Multiplatform games between them.

But I would say if you want really good games, go with the 360. It has a more than impressive line up of games in 2008, much better than the PS3's lineup.

Speedy454545

I think you have it the other way around. X360 has a horrible 2008 lineup, meanwhile PS3 is getting Resistance 2, Killzone, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Wipeout, SOCOM, Gran Turismo, etc...

@ssj_ken Go with PS3 especially since you are getting an HDTV. Don't discount how nice it is to have all the other functionality like Blu-ray movies, being able to surf the web, etc... If you have an HDTV it's a no brainer PS3 is the way to go. PS3 also has proven it's the superior system graphically. PS3 has the best 2008 lineup of games, the best games graphically, a ton more features than X360.

Ironically PS3 is also less expensive than X360. X360 owners like to hide the fact they get dinged hard for proprietary accessories and online fees. Ex: Harddrive upgrade X360 120gb = $179, I bought an external 500gb drive for my PS3 $109. Rockband wireless guitar: X360 = $79, PS3 = $59 because they have to pay a fee to license the wireless from Microsoft. Online play X360 = $50 every year PS3= free. Additional user accounts X360 = $15 PS3= free the list goes on and on.

If you want to make the purchase RIGHT this second, get a 360.

The Library will be enough to keep you occupied while Sony shows us if the 2008 gaming year will be better then 2007, and by that time I am sure the PS3 bundles will be much better.

To highlighted point number one,

When and Where? I have an HD TV, both consoles going through an HDMI input and where am I suppose to see this "superior graphical system" that PS3 is suppose to offer? Uncharted and Lair looked pretty cool but so did Gears and Bioshock? If there is a graphic advantage at this point its so tiny that its hardly worth noting.

As for the "Best 2008 Line-up" when I hear that I feel like punching a Cow in the face, the "Best 2007 Line-up" is the reason I dropped nearly a grand at launch for my shiney new 60gb PS3 and here we are a year later and it was that 2007 line up that made my stunning Piano Black PS3 turning into a Dusty Grey PS3.

360's Library and PS3's Library BOTH have their share of interesting titles, the difference is in 2007 360 delivered while PS3 did not.

As for the Live comment, its always very easy to spot the Uni-System Gamers when it comes to PSN Vs. Live.

For the functionality that Live offers over PSN right down the the little features like a SINGLE friends list, Voice Chat regardless of what game you and your friends may be playing, Online game invites, and on and on, its well worth the 4.17 a month.

PS3 has the best games graphically: Uncharted is the best game graphically on any console.. If you don't agree how about Unreal Tournament? Or Ratchet and Clank? Or Gran Turismo? All exclusive to PS3.

If you can't find a game you want to play between Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Warhawk, Eye of Judgement, Folklore, Unreal Tournament 3, etc, etc.. All recent releases and exclusives then you just aren't a gamer. That doesn't include any multiplats like Rockband, Call of Duty4, Guitar Hero, etc...

About Live; What games do you have on X360 that support big battles like Resistance with 40 players or Warhawk with 32 players. Answer..... none. You have one game with 24 players, Perfect Dark and it's lagfest. Also because MS charges to play online, something nobody else does. Only a small percentage of X360 owners pay to play online. Which means even if I had an X360 and even if my friends do there is a big chance I wouldn't be able to game with them anyway. With PS3 everyone I know is online gaming.

ont know really, I have both and they are great. If you have a HDTV then I would get a ps3 for the blu ray player. The difference between the consoles in terms of graphics are non existant. And it may stay that way. Both consoels have good exclusives, R&C is fun, Forza 2 is god, resistance was grat with really good muyltiplayer, Halo 3 had an ok story and good multiplayer. They both have great games. The ps3's online is not as good but you can still ave a buddys list, use a webcam, do chat and play onloine with them. The online play of games are exactly the same withg both consoles. You can have better themes with the ps3 and it has a browser and the online is free.

I personally like my ps3 best, I am one of those people who really believe that the ps3 will produce the best graphics. I like its lineup better and many of my friends have one. I also like the way it looks, it sounds silly but the ps3 looks SOOO much better than the 360. The 360 feels old, normal buttons, cheap plastic and with a huge box you must connect to it. The ps3 though uses touch sensitive buttons, nice shiny plastics, no disk tray, and it is in 1 piece. I think it reflects sonys commitment to quality.

Killzone 1 sucked, Killzone 2 will suck. Final Fantasy games have just gotten old and boring, there are to many of them. Gran Turismo is a racing game, nuff said there. Socom games have not been very good in the past, and Wipeout is just bleh.

360 has the killer games in 08, such as Halo Wars which will sell millions of copies world wide. Xbox 360 has so many exclusive games coming out in 08 its seriously not funny.

The PS3 has a much, much stronger looking 2008 line up in my eyes. In fairness though, it needs it because the 360 was strongerlast year. Most games are multi plat anyway and whilst i think early PS versions were worse that seems to be evening up now. Basically its down to the exclusives:

360: Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Forza

PS: Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank

PS line up is better than it gets credit for, but still the 360 wins right now. However, im simply not seeing the exclusives for the 360this yearcompared to the PS. Granted, nothing is certain until its released but the biggest PS titles have not been released yet and are almost guaranteed to be good, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5 and the new Final Fantasy. Resistance 2 also. The following PS games MIGHT be good also: Killzone 2, Haze, Little Big Planet. Possibly the best exclusive is God of War 3 but thats a way off

For the 360, Ninja Gaiden 2 will be good, Gears 2 is a fair bit off but will be good. Fable 2 will be good but im not sure how good. Too Human, Alan Wake i cant saythat they are guaranteed hits maybe im underestimating them. To me those too lines up are quite a bit apart, PS looks much stronger in the same way 360s big hits came out last year.

This is so hard to answer. The 360 is better for gaming IMO due to the library, but if you're getting that HDTV soon, you have to seriously consider the PS3 because of the Bluray player. I'd probably say go with the PS3 unless you have little-to-no interest in movies.

Ok, so 1, you can see the future and see that KKZ 2 will be bad, even though the psp one was great and sony have pt tons of time and money into this? 2, many people will disagree with the thing you said about FF. thats your opinion. GT is just a racing game? you mean a series of racing games that have always been incredibly realistic, forza is just a racing game, I like it. SOCOM has always been good, the ps2 versions were good and the psp ones have been great. Wipout is amazing.

plus this is funny, Halo wars a killer game? it will not be great on consoles, the pc version will be better. c'mon cant you think of a better 360 game?

You make me laugh. You state your opinions as if they are fact, KZ 1 was actually quite good, apart form some bugs. Both consoels are good.

The ps3 has a great lineup, just like the 360.
