i own a ps3 but i ve play my friends 360, well live has a lot of lag while the ps network its free and has litte to no lag at all, the ps3 has a bright future with games and the blu ray its awesome if you are thinking of getting a HDTV, like some say, if you believe in the future buy the ps3 if you want to play great games right now go with 360(altho the ps3 has some great games right now)

but you can buy it at walmart and if you dont like it you can take it back to the store within 30 days (atleast thats what my friend told me)

anyways good luck :D

So as an owner of the Nintendo Wii, would it be fair of me to hype Red Steel 2? When making a list of all the great exclusive games for the Wii, would it be fair of me to include Red Steel 2?

Or would it be more fair to say something like "status unkown". So basically it couldbe a good game or a bad game.

I would suggest getting both. I would get the PS3 now and the 360 later, when they have figured out the problems with the hardware. The Red Rings are still very much a reality. I got my Elite last August when Bioshock came out. I just got the RRoD about an hour ago.

Thank you all very much for the feedback. It has been great reading all your responses and I'm able to start forming my oppinion on the matter.

Just a few more questions:

In 2008 and carrying into 2009, which console will you think will have the better rpgs. I am a big fan of any rpg.

I know microsoft has some hidden fees like wireless router and multiple users etc.. But does the PS3 have any hidden fees is my question.

Thanks~

Well I'd try to get both, if you can't I'd say get the ps3...I love Ace Combat and Gears and I love Uncharted and UT3...If you don't mind paying $50 for a better experience and like the controller you might want the 360 but personally I don't like paying 50 a year for my 360 and as the PS3's online gets better and almost equivelent I am starting to get multiplats for my PS3...

I think it's up to the online experience you're looking for, the 360's-stable and achievements...PS3-Unique with Home and free. But seeing you like RPGs, Sony is known for that :)...White Knight Chronicles will be comming out soon for one.

Yes I am a PS3 fan, but for good reasons.

And honestly, I will just say, are you going to buy a console to play last years games? or are you going to buy a console, and play the heavy hitters as they come out?

This year the PS3 has, hands down, the most "potential heavy-hitting" games in it's lineup. The 360 seems to be bringing up the back of the line, with only a few announced "potential heavy-hitters".

It's really easy to build up one system based on its strengths, and bash another based on it's weaknesses, So I'll just tell you what I did.

I went with the PS3, and I couldn't be happier. I have had the same one since launch, and it still works. It's still quiet as a whisper, and it still plays all my PS1 and 2 games, as well as any DVD/Blu-Ray movies. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

That is entirely subjective, and based on your perception of what is good or not. I personally believe the PS3 will have the best, as it will have White Knight Story, FFXIII (and other takeoffs), the Disgaea series, and a few other unannounced games by Square Enix, and Team ICO, and I'm sure a few others as well, Where as the few RPG's that actually manage to stay exclusive on the 360 (due to it's abysmal sales in Japan) will end up being very westernized (look at Lost Odyssey, it looks good, but very westernized)

I know microsoft has some hidden fees like wireless router and multiple users etc.. But does the PS3 have any hidden fees is my question.

Thanks~

ssj_ken

You will have to purchase a rumble controller separately, something like $50, give or take, but I guess thats really only if you care about rumble. Also you will probably have to buy an HDMI cable, which you can get for $5-10 bucks if you shop around (don't believe the monster cable hype, its all the same thing. a cable is a cable)

Put it this way, you seem like me, and you seem to like the Japanese way of games/art etc. The PS3/wii are considered the "Japanese" consoles. The 360 is the western console, with all the western games. Go look up Disgaea PS3. Honestly, the PS3 sounds like the best console for your tastes. You're going to get a lot more Japanese titles to play on it than you would on a 360.

But what do I know. I'm not you.

If you want RPG games, the 360 is the way to go.

Its got the whole Mass Effect series, Fable 2, Lost Oddessy, Blue Dragon and heaps of other RPG games coming out, not just in 2008 but also in 2009.

The Mass Effect series is expected to reach 5 sequels which will be exclusivley on the 360, you cannot go wrong with that.

They both have their ups and downs and its so hard choosing. In all honesty at this point i could flip a coin and it would be no different than choosing so I will ask a few more questions.

How is PSN compared to xbox live? Could you guys give me a hands on perspective of it. I have not played either. Do you get a lot of quitters on each and is xbox live service worth the 50 bucks a year. I mean what is their that makes you wanto pay 50 bucks when psn offers it free. And what is their in PSN that makes it so enjoyable. I mean it is a free service so how good is it really?

*I have a wii so i can understand that eventhough online maybe free, it is crap except for a few minor games. I'm afraid psn might turn out like this.

Your oppinions are what i'm looking for because you guys like me are gamers and it is much better to get a straight up consumer view than say some review site making comparisons, even if some comments are fanboyish.

Last but not least, what is the big thing in each service that attracts you to the console. I mean what is it about live that makes you want an xbox360 and vice versa for ps3 and psn.

Thanks~

Xbox Live is much higher quality and better than PSN. Xbox Live has stuff like gamerscores, being able to compare games with each other, achievments and just an overall better online community. (I am most likely missing heaps and heaps of features, there are just to many to remember) Xbox Live gives you the ability to download game trailers, gamer pictures, demos and game add-ons. Its just overall a better experience and is definatley worth the extra cash.

Unfortunatley PSN is like the Wii's online, very very average. Thats why they are free I guess hey? PSN will just give you the basics of online play and thats it, quite disapointing if you ask me.

The thing that attracts me to the Xbox 360 is the wide range of games, in which most are exclusive. Halo 3 and Gears of War online never get boring and are endless hours of fun, not to mention other awesome online games like Left 4 Dead are coming out in 08 which I cannot wait to play :) Not to mention all of the brilliant RPG games coming out like Fable 2 and Lost Oddessy, 2008 will be a great year for the Xbox 360 so I would purchase one now while it is still in its prime.

You've never touched the PSN...gosh why do people like to talk out of their ass so much? PSN allows for FREE matchmaking...(dedicated servers for most games, unlike 360 which has 0 dedicated servers for games) PSn allows for DEMO downloads, Trailer Downloads, add-ons, themes,...and guess what THEIR ALL FREE...all themes are FREE...unlike XBL... The only reason XBL is better is becuause its more centralized...if PS Home does what its supposed to do...then PSN >>>>> XBL

As for online. X360 charges $50 per year. PS3 doesn't. Games are usually less expensive to purchase on PS3 as well. Playstation titles run about $5.99, Xbox titles run $15 on 360. The big differences are X360 has a better in game messaging system. Something Sony said they are working on improving. The other big difference is the way the network runs. Playstation network supports games with more players and the games themselves have less lag. Warhawk for example on PS3 has 32 players, Resistance supports 40 players online. Resistance 2 is going to support 60 players. On X360 the biggest online game they have is Perfect Dark at 24 players, but it's a lagfest.

Just a recap:

Live currently has a better messaging system and costs more.

Playstation Network is less laggy, free, and it supports big online games with support for more players. It also has HOME coming soon. Which is worth checking out.

As far as RPGS: That's a big strength to Sonys side. One problem with X360 losing the Japanese market and selling poorly in Europe is you are going to eventually lose developer support from those regions as well. That's what happened to the first Xbox and why it became known as a shooter console only. Microsoft really needs to find a way to get more marketshare in those territories or else X360 will lose the variety in gaming and end up just like the original Xbox.

No RPG game on the PS3 can even come close to Mass Effect, Fable 2 and Lost Oddessy.

Final Fantasy games in my opinion are just garbage, pokemon style fighting is boooorring. You guys just get hyped to much over graphics rather than anything else.

I would say both as their both great but if u can have only one i would say

For instant gratification th Xbox 360 as it has sooo much great games out now and xbox live it dosent really matter wat Sony fanboys say PSN dosent come close, yes it has dedicated servers.........for 4 of their games all the others use P2P

But if your in for an investment Get the PS3 light on great titles to set it apart from the rest but in time will have some true AAA titles

Or you could get the Xbox and sell it for a PS3 in like a year and a half

Personally i prefer the Xbox

PSN is not less laggy, has few notable features, few users, unsociable community and the interface and Xmb intergration is poor at best.

It has games tailor made for alot of players thats not due to how amazing PSN is thats due to developers thinking it would be fun to have 50 plus players, the Xbox can have that also. Xbox games can also have Dedicated servers (Battlefield2? Huxley?)

PDZ is NOT a lag fest even at maximum capacityalthough it emplys P2P play

Currently the Xbox has better RPGs, Fighters,FPS,Action, racing and RTS the PS3 has.........Uncharted

Stop being so closeminded we could always do the same offer fair opinion or youll come across as a fanboy which im sure your not.......right

So basically let me get this straight:

Psn:

Dedicated servers, which means big games and no lag.

Free downloadable content, themes demoes etc.

No real social system etc..

x360:

p2p servers which means always a game but its laggy.

some stuff is free to download but most will cost you.

excellent social system.

Am i getting closer or am i completely off?

I have a 256k internet connection, which is horrible.

Yet I still am able to play Halo 3 and other games online just fine with not one little bit of lag.

Wish I could say the same for PSN...
