PSN has a movie ordering service, not to mention a web browser where you could probably just go to the Netflix website and stream videos from there.

Kahuna_1

It will not work with netflix

Why? Netflix is only robbing themselves of money by not allowing it across all systems.

you could say the same about every developer who makes a game exclusive to any platform. But MS and Netflix have an exclusive agreement.

Sony does the same with exclusive games, so does microsoft, its just business

net flix is cool I just watched ace ventura when nature calls. but the movies are old. and the no dolby digital, the hd is hardly hd. Is it worth the fee barely. Bluray movies are the best. The web browser on the ps3 sucks. Streaming movies is cool but the quality of the sound and picture needs improvements. after you have netfix for a few weeks you get bored with it. I have two 360 and in order to stream video you need a gold live acount, I only have one with a gold account.

Lemmings forget that we had a video store since summer, we could the ps3 internet to go to netflix, and we have blu-ray. The ps3 is pretty much set when it comes to movies.

indeed. the video store makes sure you don't have to pay for a netflix account. its just a better setup imo...

First off, the 360 had a video store FIRST, so dont even go there, and second, Netflix adds over 12,000 movies and tv shows to XBL and you cant watch those with the PS3 internet browswer. i agree with bluray. but there isnt nearly as many bluray movies as there are movies on netflix, and for some reason, tv shows arent released on bluray. Why are you guys trying to downplay the signifigance of it?? Nevermind, i just checked your posting history, you guys WOULD say that now wouldnt you

Netflix has Dexter. ... bluray does not. That's all I need to add.

Because its insignifigant. As a 3 year Netflix subscriber I can say without a doubt the streaming service is nothing special. The pickings are slim to say the least, and the picture quality shouldn't even be discussed if you're trying to compare this to Blu-ray. There's a handful of things worth watching, mostly TV shows that can be found and streamed from other places for free (and on PS3). It's nice to have the integrated service on the 360 but I ran out of things to watch within a month or so of them launhing the watch now service on PC and I have yet to use it on my 360. Almost all of this is available on PC and PS3 so can we please stop with the Netflix threads?!?!?!?

This is a nice extra but to say it's "pretty awesome" is laughable.

no one ever said it was the same visually as bluray, that would be crazy to think that, but it is just your opinion that its not much worth watching because not everyone likes the same things, but i own PS3, and you cant tell me that almost all of the movies are availble on there because its not, Netflix requires separate software to download to watch on PC unless you have some 3rd party program like PlayOn which you still have to pay $30 for. And then when it streams to PS3, it is not the same quality you get with it on 360. No one here is saying this will replace bluray, or better than bluray. or anything like that, but its about have more of a selection at your fingertips, without having to jump through hoops to get. Hulu, megavideo, and all of those other streaming sites doesnt come close to the selection of movies and tv shows that netflix has, i can provide you with a list if you want

any ps3 user can download PlayOn to stream their play now movies to their ps3's, heck for that matter the lemmings could do this aswell. Play now movies on Netflix isn't somthing to get worked up about lol, most are pretty old with the occasional newer movie thrown in. But Netflix to get bluray movies for the ps3 is a definite win :)GreyFoXX4
You can use PlayOn with Xbox 360 as well. I do...which means I not only get to stream Netflix on my Xbox, but Hulu, YouTube, and a few others as well.

Netflix has added TONS of great movies on Instant Watch, in part with deals they have with Starz, CBS, and so on. Again, you can also stream Hulu and YouTube on your Xbox 360 by downloading PlayOn onto your computer.

Yes... I think they should have had something similar ready for the other regions when they launched Netflix on 360. Still at least us in the UK have the overpriced Video Marketplace.:|

Like some people have said already though, I bought my 360 for gaming... being able to watch movies/tv shows on your console is a nice bonus but it's all about the games.

i had netflix for over a year, I know what movies they had in instant watch. not that many that I care about. Playon? you means I have to use a pc then stream to watch it on xbox? why dont' I just watch it on my PC instead? if you know some movie sites :) ? with PSN browser, you can basically watch any movies even one that's currently in theater for free without using a PC. you can't do that with xbox.

Its a cool feature and I'd definitely use it if I had a 360, but it's not anything that would win me over to the console. Mostly because I'm fine with netflix streaming to my laptop when I want to watch instantly, and I can always get movies on DVD or bluray (which can be played on PS3).

They advertise being able to download movies on the PSN site (which is terrible, btw) so I would assume so.

PS3 has over 1500 titles for rental/download. I don't see what's so special about Netflix, especially considering that last time I checked only a small portion of their videos are actually able to be streamed. Plus streaming is not going to give you the video quality that you may perhaps desire....it's going to be immediately constrained by your bandwidth. PS3 movies can be streamed, but you can buffer the living crap out of them first to ensure smooth playback with high quality video. However, you can always kick the Xbox 360 and just stream Netflix to a PC and quit being an elitist. By the way, I've been watching Blu Ray movies on my PS3 shipped by Netflix since 2007.

what does PS3 have to counter this? johnnyblazed88
Ability to transfer any movie you download from you PC to your PS3 HDD without having to pay for it like some monkey.Torrents FTW!!!
