I am just wondering how many people are gonna spout how it's a ripoff of Game of thrones once they hear white wolf, and see the wild hunt and theme of the white frost.

Though Wild Hunt> White Walkers

Well, it is a bit of a rip off, just not of Game of thrones, but rather Elric of Melniboné. Either way though, just enjoy it for what it is. Everything in Fantasy rips of something to some degree.

thing is elric of melnibone and geralt are totally different other than white wolf part. I mean to me everything is inspired by Lord of the rings/conan/HP lovecraft/ Prose Edda ETC

Also Did a video on my Fanboying over the fact were getting a tv show of it. Hopefully they go all out on it

Netflix keeps getting more awesome by the second. They're even coming out with Castlevania soon, they care more about the franchise than Konami themselves.

They don't even release viewership numbers on their original shows, as I understand it it's part of their philosophy of keeping a pure environment for the content creators so people don't draw comparisons with shows that have low viewership numbers, it helps keep a healthy artistic environment where the products are not judged by how well they sell(how many viewers). Good job Netflix

I think I should tell people here that CDPR is not involved with this in any way, nor is the show based on the Witcher games. Rather it's a show based on the books. The author, Andrzej Sapkowski, is serving a a creative consultant for the show.

Hopefully it'll be good, but I'm keeping my expectations low. This kind of thing needs a pretty big budget to be good. Netflix CAN provide that, but WILL they?

Sounds awesome, but I would rather have a full movie.

Awesome but please, get a proper longsword specialist/master to choreograph and train the Geralt actor or whoever is going to be the protagonist.

It's probably going to be yet another bad video game adaptation, but it should at least be better than the garbage 2001 Witcher movie.

Isn't this gonna pretty much end up being, Geralt kills monsters and ploughs women in every episode?

If so count me in.

I hear that people (at least the director) who worked on the trailers for the Witcher 3 are also working on this series?

If so... those were the best trailers we've ever seen for video games. So that could be a good sign.

Bring it on, Netflix is A-OK in my book as far as producing content. Yeah they've done some questionable stuff, but most of it has been entertaining at the worst, and quite a bit of it has been downright incredible.

I mean if you remove the comedy genre from Netflix's catalog of self-made stuff, their content is damn good...it's only when you incorporate Adam Sandler, some of their stand ups, and other not-funny comedies that it takes a turn for the worst.

As for The Witcher, there is already a host of lore and books and even TV shows (in Polish) to go off of, in addition to three incredible games, so have at it! And as @uninspiredcup has said, it can be done well and believably well. There are a host of real-world locations that would lend itself well to the filming of this show; that's one of the reason why I like The Witcher games; it's like realistic medieval but with fantasy, I feel like I am walking around in our world and it just so happens to have monsters in it, as opposed to walking around in some other world with monsters.
