Unlike the Elite, any PS3 can upgrade their HDD

Unlike the ps3, the 360 has good games without crabs.

Why an 80GB with nothing else than a 20GB upgrade? Seriously just put the drop and leave it as is.

I had to, I mean just about every cow said it, it just seemed right. Even though the only part I agree with it is that they screwed out early adopters of $100 IMO

If this is true then I am happy, cause a 100 dollar price drop is in need for those of us here in Canada who want to buy one where right now its 650 CAD or so.DSgamer64

If you cannot figure it out, here is what I believe to be the truth.

Computer HDD's are dirt cheap to make, however laptop sized drives are not exactly cheap compared to desktop drives, however companies can still make profit on their production. Since Sony already makes the drives for their laptops, they do not have to worry about extra production costs, thus they are able to put bigger drives in the PS3 and make more money off the console. At least that is my theory.

659.99 CAD at Futureshop, not including taxes, which would push it ahead of 700 bucks. Either way its still going to be expensive.

Futureshop ( a huge canadian retailer) gives out a free copy of resistance for PS3 buyers. 360 buyers get some crappy games like GUN or Madden games.

Wish they would just make them:

120g w/ motorstorm - $599

60g - $499

20g - $399

But this is a way for Sony to re-coup costs on the bulk of production costs since HDD's dont cost alot.

consumers wont take notice...they will still see a PS3 for $600, and a PS3 for $500...just as it was earlier

the 20 GB didnt sell...so they discontinued it. Dropping the price might help it, but adding another unit with a $600 price tag wont

Futureshop and Best Buy are essentially the same companies, just Best Buy has cheaper products sometimes and Futureshop has a lot of fancy high end TV's and stuff. Both are pretty much the same here otherwise.

Think about it this way though. I can buy a Core Xbox 360 and a 120 gig HD for cheaper (180+300=$480) Which is still cheaper than the PS3's 60 gig unit after the price drop.

No, retailers dropped it to 659.99 this week. So MAYBE that means a 550 price drop (110 CDN).

Then buy a 500$ model that has nothing. Considering the 60gb model is IMO well worth the money, this new bundle is most definitely worth the cash. I actually haven't bought a PS3 yet, been holding off like many have been for the price drop.
