And I thought Battlefield 3 looked good :shock: these are early screenshots and they look fantastic! But the REAL question here is; Can you see dem legs?

Yes I'm sure millions upon millions will flock to Battlefield over Arma because its prettier. No one will care that its a hardcore sim or that it has almost no marketing, they'll all flock to it and BF will die.

But in all seriousness though, I liked Arma II so I'll end up buying this as well. Its a shame I had no one to play II with though.

I'm not saying anything until I see it actually running in front of my eyes. Arma II screenshots look great, but in motion...not so much.

TBH im not impressed. The terrain looks real as always but everything else...MEH.

I hope they:

- make the game look as authentic and life-like as possible (we're talking about a Greek island here after all)

- make an enjoyable single-player campaign that'll also be playlable in co-op mode

- more urban combat and possible naval battles

- enable support for more than 32 players online (64 player servers would be cool)

- don't release the game in beta state (read: remove the glitches and optimize the net code and graphics engine)

Keep in mind that these are very early screens, it looks pretty amazing for a game so early in development, and the draw distance. By the time it comes out, it should dethrone Battlefield.

Of course it'll have more fun multiplayer and more people, but ARMA 3 is just looking amazing early on in development and is almost guaranteed to dethrone Battlefield 3. The link works for me and many other people, odd how it doesn't work for you (and the person before you) :(

The engine is nothing compared to what BF3 has.

Yeah and my PC will barely run Arma 3 on low... BF3 for me it is.

So, it's ARMA II with helluv draw distance. That's cool.

It looks great, don't get me wrong. I also know they revamped their engine to make it way more optimized and have physics (for once). However it's still very limited compared to other engines.

However you won't be finding a 255 square kilometer map in BF3 or the next Crysis.

Can you blow anything else than a red barrel or a vehicle? Probably not, and it doesn't look better than BF3. BF3 wins in graphics and physics over arma3.silversix_

Doesn't look that impressive, but Arma's not about the looks. Only thing important in such an open environment sim is draw distances, and holy ****, those are some ****ing draw distances there.

The foliage is pretty ugly, the ground is pretty flat, and the shadows are pixellated and ugly. All it really has is draw distance which looks great but won't carry it, especially on foot.

BF3 looks much better if you ask me. Though really, both do look good regardless. The real issue is which will be more fun, which will come down to whether you prefer realism and depth, to faster paced arcadey with great production quality.

People always do the mistake of comparing Arma with Battlefield and CoD. Arma is a simulator, NOT a shooter. Arma shoots for absolute realism, it doesn't care if it sacrifices fun and gameplay on the way. You don't compare it to a 'standard' game, which will sacrifice realism for gameplay. Also, Arma is not for everyone. It's the game for my old man, the game for my pensioneer ex-colonel uncle, etc etc. It's good fun once in a while with friends, but it's very steep and tiring.
