You shoot guns in Mirrors edge, that doesn't make it a shooter.

I hope they:
- make the game look as authentic and life-like as possible (we're talking about a Greek island here after all)
- make an enjoyable single-player campaign that'll also be playlable in co-op mode
- more urban combat and possible naval battles
- enable support for more than 32 players online (64 player servers would be cool)
- don't release the game in beta state (read: remove the glitches and optimize the net code and graphics engine)

Also, the game looks hideous (ArmA II) and pistols are USELESS.

It's still FPS. And that's why he meant too. He was saying it's not FPS, but it is. Jeez, I guess ppl need to be specific on system wars. It's FPS simulator. If you still disagree, then tell me why Forza and GT are considerend 'racing games' when they are simulators too as well? Hmmm, that's what I thought.
Pfft, do you have next generation gaming systems?Other than Draw distance it looks mediocre.

They could be screens running on low settings (seeing the lack of Anti-Aliasing in the screenshots), and also this game has an entire year of development to go. Arma 3 has a lot of potential, I can just imagine these screenshots at higher resolutions, with more AA, and those draw distances, with that scale, etc. It's still very early on in development, but it's reaching what Battlefield 3 looks like, and by the time it's released it should look much better (especially when maxed).

It looks better than Crysis 1 with much larger scale. You need to get your eyes check. :PI'm sure Battlefield 3 will look "prettier", even if it's scale is miniscule compared to Arma III. Most people care more about animations, envioremental and characters details and destructability than scale. So even if Arma III is more impressive technicaly BF3 will still be considered prettier.
That said, I'm waiting for Arma III far more than for Battlefield 3. I just prefer tactical shooters over arcade shooters.
Depends which physics you mean :) Ragdolls and boxes being thrown around? Sure. But vehicle (tanks, planes, helis) physics will be far more advanced than in BF3The physics are horrible on ARMA3...

It's not even a shooter, it's a simulator. No, it's not. It's tactical shooter. The vehicle controls are to arcade for it to be ever considered simulator.A game that helps the insomniacs of the world. He puts them right out. Seriously, the games are super boring.[QUOTE="SpeedsterCards"] Its a simulation shooter. 1shot kills, you can live for 10-15 min if you play it right.

not everyone has your taste in pointless arcade shooters, aka Blackops. die, spawn, die, spawn, helicopter perk, die, spawn. x7
More like BF3. That game will definitely sell a LOT more than Arma 3, and rightfully so.Depends which physics you mean :) Ragdolls and boxes being thrown around? Sure. But vehicle (tanks, planes, helis) physics will be far more advanced than in BF3[QUOTE="Bebi_vegeta"]

That's Arma II. Arma III has full PhysX support, meaning ragdolls, the whole nine yards...

Yeah that looks pretty bad. I mean the physics of the tank look a few inches larger than the actual vehicle.[QUOTE="Bebi_vegeta"][QUOTE="psn8214"]

It looks nice, i think BF3 looks better though. And the people complaining about the physics implementation, seriously? It is obviously unfinished, they even say it isn't physically correct and they are working on it, right in the video. They were just showing off that their engine supported those types of physics now.ferret-gamer
Hey, if your going to show off something... atleast do it right... right?
Quite possibly the most overrated game in history when it comes to graphics. The boat scene was horrible....

This is not a console game.
BI has a habit of releasing super high-res with lots of AA screens before launch.
What you can notice pretty easily is the lack of shadows on most of the objects in the world.
As said before in this thread, ArmA is widely inconstant with its graphics to ever be up there with the best.

So yes, worse world physics, but superior vehicle physics. Altough I doubt thise weightless boxes will be left in the final gameAlso Who would play Arma II over BFBC2?Grey_Eyed_ElfAnyone who prefers realistic tactical shooters over arcadish casual shooters? Arma II has quite large player base, despite the fact that it launched in very sorry state. Despite all it's problems people still played it religiously.
I do think BF3 will be great game, but just like BF2 and BC2 before I will be bored to death with it after few months. Arma III I will play for years.
The only reason why I still have BF2 installed on my PC is Project reality and since BF3 wont be supporting mods all it will be is yet another arcade shooter. Fun for a while, but lacking things that would make me stick longer than few months.
