Looking forward to it. With the exception of BF 2042, the last few BF games have been really great. As they don't get spammed as much as CoD, it's easy to forget that BFV (2018) was a great installment, as was BF1 (2016).
It sounds like they are "returning to form" (then again they said that about DA Veilguard...) which is good, and I do enjoy the modern era the most.
I would like to see some of the more casual "mil sim" components perhaps incorporated into the game though. Pick and choose some good things from games like Squad, Hell Let Loose, and ArmA. I think gamers are ready for a bit more realism, a bit more tactics. Let COD be the arcade game; BF can be the higher stakes game. For example:
- Add a more in-depth inventory system, perhaps a paper-doll/RPG style system where you can pick and choose how many magazines of each type you get, mix and match grenade types, armor size (light, med, heavy), and so on.
- Remove health regen and add in an injury system; would add a ton of depth to the medic gameplay loop, as it'd be less about zapping people and more about healing.
- Add buildable fortifications.
- Larger map, with dynamic spawn zones depending on what you've built.
- Artillery batteries.
- To drive vehicles, you have to spawn as a driver class (that has weaker individual weaponry but can drive vehicles).
