"It's true the Wii doesn't have a great many shooters, but does that mean we should reward any old tat that comes along simply because the genre's better examples aren't available for the platform? We don't think so. The truth is that while The Conduit may be marvellous on a technical level, underneath it seems to be the same old corridor-traipsing gunfest you've seen many times before - and it's not really much fun"

LINK

Well that's... kinda what i was expecting. Although "Technically Marvolous" is not the word i would use, maybe for a Wii game but "Eye Bleedingly Ugly" more suits it.

Well it's a Wii game Hyped for its graphics (which just so happen to be god awful), now we know, as we always suspected, its actually a crappy game.

So the game has crap structure and horrible graphics, just what does this game have thats good? Sorry but good Wii controls wont save a poorly designed game.

I know that High Voltage have been trying really hard and all but i just dont think they're good developers.

Yup my thoughts exactly, the game is Fugly.

I guess they mean technically impressive for a Wii game, whichi guess it is considering the meger picking the wii gets in the grpahics department. Its just its applied with gherish colours and Jaggies up the ass, Art leaves a whole freaking lot to be desired. So it looks crap, it pays crap and it aint fun. I guess its a hell of a time tio be a sheep here at SW then :P.

I can't be bothered thinking of something smart to say, so I'll just say this, come on like anyone really (apart from a few hardcore sheep) thought this was going to be anything more than just a generic and crappy FPS, seriously just look at High Voltage's history and you'll see that this game already stunk before it was even started to be made.

Who cares, I want it to be a dumb corridor shooter, I just want a game where I can run and gun like the old days, rather than all the FPS now where you have to use cover or wait for health to recharge every 5 seconds.

Then why just not play any of those great old games that are much cheaper and probably much better?

Halo, Half Life, FEAR, Quake and Return to Castle Wolfenstein are all superb FPS games with no tacked-on cover with kick-ass run and gun gameplay. They are also very cheap to buy today.

Maybe he has already played them...That is not a long list Anyways anyone looking for an old school type FPS should really play Moon on the DS.

Agreed. It will always be the same, anything that even looks decent on the Wii gets hyped out the ass and then when it doesn't preform, it gets swept under the rug and everyone tries to forget about it (i.e. Disaster Day of Crisis).

The gameplay videos alone had shown proof of that.

Quick, hype Little King's Story.

There is actually a few Wii game that had different degrees of hype that people barely remembers now.

Dewy's Adventure
Wing Island
Soul Calibur Legends
Rygar: Battle of Argus

If I recall correctly,it was only hyped for having nice graphics on the Wii.That said, the visuals of the final product weren't very exciting.

I could've told you that too.

Even since it was announced it looked bland and boring -- I dont even know why a lot of Wii owners are looking forward to it -- as a Wii owner I'm looking forward to games that are innovative, unique or have a certain charm to them, like Little King's Story.

On the Wii, why would I want to play yet another FPS that is exactly the same as the rest of them? Yes the controls might be better, but there is more to just control that makes a good FPS what it is ...

I think the difference is people remembers the hyped games on PS3 and 360, this is not always the case with the hyped Wii games.

People are still talking about Haze, Too Human and Lair. Not so much with Opoona or Dewy's Adventure. Nintendo fanboys has had a tendency this gen to hype every game that looks slightly promising (lots of times only based on graphics) and then they forget the game even exists. It sometimes looks like an unnecesarry desperation from the Nintendo fanboys side.

The reason Wii flops are more often forgotten is because most of them weren't hyped that much in the first place. There aren't many sheep on this board anymore, so they can't match the hype levels cows or lems generate for their games.

A lot of Wii games are love or hate though. Games like Deadly Creatures, MadWorld, No More Heroes all had scattered scores ranging from 6.0's to 9.0's -- unlike a lot of games on the other platforms who get scores in relatively the same area (A,AA,AAA,etc).

Well, I read that preview, and it seemed to be nitpicky.

Their issues with the game seem to be three things:

1) No blood

2) Yellow health orbs spawn when the Aliens die

3) Lifeless environments

They also mention that the only played a couple stages... To me, they are just trying to grasp at anything to bash it.

For example, not all shooters need blood. They say because it has no blood, it takes away from the experience. Quite dumb tbh. The health orbs, I think, are all right. I would prefer health only scattered in places, but I feel it's better than regenerating health. The lifeless environments, though, could be one to pick with. That is one thing I've noticed and have worried about. But this is the first preview to mention this, and the environment in the videos seems to be improving. Of course, thoguh, the environments are "lifeless" as the story shows that a major disaster struck Washington D.C.

Anyway, I'm not paying much attention to this preview right now, as you should too. This is the first preview that has actually said negative things about The Conduit, yet everyone is calling this "the truth." Ridiculous. They even say at the end that their opinions could change. Im still waiting. Plus, the multiplayer modes have not been announced yet...

You have a 360, you can all ready find plenty of dumb but fun corridor shooters.
