halo is never known for its graphics. Good games but lol no one talks about graphics when bringing up its good points

At least the indoor shots look almost as good as Doom 3 maxed out on the PC.

Anyhow im gonna say it technically unless your a cow or a lemming with the brain capacity of the average garden snail then you'd agre Gears 3 and UC2/3 are in the same ball park graphically and probably halo 4 will be to, 343 arent a slouch when it comes down to it although cows will love to think they are.

Lol no.....While halo 4 does look quite good it's never been up to graphics king quality. Does it look good? Hell ya

But halo has other better things going for it.

Blow things up to their proper resolution and it will be a much uglier picture. Tiny gifs say nothing about the graphic fidelity of any game

Game looks good, but everytime a new Halo game comes out they always praise the bullshots.

Then at the end of the day it looks good, but nothing mindblowing compared to the newer stuff.

As much as I love Halo, it makes me rage when the devs make claims about the graphics. Bungie spouted some serious bs (I belive the first vidoc for Halo 3 claimed it would actually look like the reveal trailer in-game) and also claimed the beta did not represent the final build (it did). The lighting effects for projectiles and skyboxes looked impressive but the textures (ground such as sand), broken anisotrophic filtering and jaggies were completely disappointing.

I didn't get much chance to play Reach as I gave up on my Xbox (5th failure) but the occular occlusion mapping (or whatever it's called) to implement shadows on rocks and improved number of lit objects were the best new features visually. Apart from that, not that much different from 3. I'm not really expecting any noticeable improvement from Reach. See that's the thing. If it does look better, that's all it'll really be. A noticeable improvement. At a glance, it'll look good obviously but that's trickery and art style.

Personally, I'd say art style/direction king.
