Enjoy

honestly, not that impressed.

things I did not like about this gameplay video

- his running animation sucks.

- enemies texture 'feels weak', in the sense that, you dont get that 'meat feel' when you hit them, cant really explain it.

- gameplay is exactly like God of War. yes I know, GoW isnt exactly original, but at least, it tried to seperate itself from the likes of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha, etc. this is looks and plays like a straight GoW clone. honestly, nothng about it differentiates itself from GoW. still some people might like that, and yes, it isnt a bad thing, but I just wanted something a bit different, just my opinion.

Wow. What a complete rip off of GOW.

Looks good though, i doubt it's gonna be as angry as GOWIII :)

uhm, here's the deal.
BAT THINGS. = god of war.
WEAPONS THAT EXTEND = god of war.
BIG GIANT BOSSES THAT HAS BUTTON INPUT BATTLES = god of war.
COLLECTING DEAD ENEMY's ORBS = god of war.
SLOW MOTION FOR AIR COMBO = god of war.
DANTE's INFERNO < god of war.

The game looks awesome, the atmosphere and the fact that your in hell is just interesting as hell. Why are people just not impressed? thats like saying FPS games are rip - off each other. Seriously, just be greatful that there is an epic game that takes place in the 9 circles of hell. Can't wait.

That's what people said about their other game, Dead Space; that it was just a rip-off of Resident Evil. But in the end, Dead Space was the better game (at least that's what the majority thinks). Perhaps Dante's Inferno will be better then God of War? Who knows.

I'm more interested in Darksiders at the moment, seems a lot more original with funky artwork.

I think it'll be better than GoW purely because there have already been 3 GoW games, most of the enemies will be the same, the weapons and magic will pretty much be the same, the combos are mostly going to be the same, it'll be fun, but may seem a little tired. This doesn't have that problem since it's a new IP.

Holy christ that is even more like GOW than I thought. Even little things like the jumping and when you hit someone up and jump up after them is in kind of slow motion like in God of War. It still looks alright, but it is a blatant rip off. Quantum = Gears of War Dante's Inferno = God of War

Thanks for listing my currently most hyped games in the wrong order :P Bayonetta = God of War 3 (One is from the creator of DMC - the best game ever, and the other two are epic beyond words) > Darksiders > Dante's Inferno = NGS2.

Man, God of War III still looks great! Seriously, this game is already borrowing ideas from a book - does it also have to take it's gameplay from another game? I never say this, but this game is just shameless about GoW cloned nature. Have some creativity on your team.

From what I've seen of both. GOW III is alot better looking. Graphics and all :P It seems DI is more like God of War I and II, so it is a step backwards when comparing to III.

Pretty awesome GoW mod, Oh wait, its a completely different game? You could have fooled me! But seriously, this is a pretty shameless copy/paste job when it comes to game play from the looks of it. Even the button you have to tap to cut off people's heads is exactly the same as GoW :?

Im not denying it looks like it could be a good game. Im just saddened htat such capable devs had to copy paste instead of borrowing and expanding on the formula.

Indeed. Maybe some of the other parts will be very different. We've only seen that much of it (I said this exact same thing with the first trailer  )

Actually this is sort of different. Dead Space actually improved on the concept of RE4, but this looks EXACTLY like GOW, only difference is Kratos is no where to be found and Dante(?) is the star.

"GOW RIP OFF, GOW WAR CLONE."...Just ughhh. I love God of War as well, but it was not the first third person hack n' slash. It may feature similar QTE's and move sets, but that is where the similarities cease. The entire premise of the game is it's own beast entirely and is actually rooted in a literary masterpiece. Meaning it has far more substance to it at it's core than GOW does.

Anyway, why can't people just appreciate each game for what it brings to the table? I can find influence in nearly any game that has an element which was present in another game that came before it. However, as long as the general idea at work, premise and look of the game has it's own unique identity, what is the problem? As far as Dante's Inferno goes in that regard, it is a far cry from GOW.

Inaccurate greek mythology and traversing a modern day, made for a video game interpretation of the 9 circles of hell as described by Dante Alighieri in Inferno from The Divine Comedy?....Hmmm, someone please point out how this is a GOW rip-off. Because I fail to see the similarities aside from a few gameplay elements that are present in a lot of games today, not just GOW.

Actually. It has the same controls, jump, basic attacks, animations for the main character, upgrade system, etc. I'm sure we'll see more similarities when we see more. It looks like fun, and I've already said this.

I hardly think he has the exact same animations as Kratos and he uses entirely different weapons as well. Wait, he jumps and rolls, too? Oh no, definite GOW clone then. We all know that GOW invented jumping, rolling and stringing togther combo attacks with a bladed weapon in third person hack n' slash games....oh wait.

Does Dante (from DMC) and Kratos jump exactly the same? No. Does this guy jump EXACTLY the same as Kratos? YES. It's a very awkward looking animation, and I've always disliked it. So when I seen it, it was the first thing I noticed. Care to explain the part where he knocks a guy up in the air and jumps up after him was in semi-slow motion, JUST LIKE GOW. DMC has this, but there is not slow motion part. Stop trying to deny that this game looks like a complete rip off of GOW. Nobody is saying the story is similar, because it isn't in any way. The gameplay is.

I do not have to deny it because I do not run around screaming "clone" at every game that is influenced and uses other gameplay elements that were used before. Using your logic, every FPS today is a rip off of Wolfenstein and Doom. Afterall, they both have you aiming/firing guns in first person EXACTLY like they did. Must be clones and rip-offs then, aye? Give me a break.

I think what people need to understand is that taking a successful formula, and perfecting it, is Visceral games niche. Take a look at Dead Space and Dead Space: Extraction. Dead Space took the gameplay of Resident Evil 4, themes from popular sci-fi movies, added in their own atmosphere, and created one of the best games of 2008. Extraction looks to do the same, except it's a take on the on-rails shooter style of gameplay. Now they are doing the exact same thing with Dante's Inferno, and I have no doubt that the final product will be something highly enjoyable even when compared to the heavy hitters it gets its mechanics from, like GoW3.

Influencing is doing a copy and paste job now? You seem to think I'm calling this a clone in a bad way. This game looks awesome, but it is a blatant copy of God of War. Anyone can see it.

Like I said, I guess all shooters are blatant rip-offs of Doom and Wolfenstein. Afterall, it is the same formula, anyone can see it.;) With all due respect, I do not think you have seen nearly enough of the game to prematurely come to the conclusion that it is going to be a copy and paste job. You do not think Visceral will include some of their own gameplay mechanics in the game as well? Come on, man.

I will point you towards my comment earlier in this thread...
Indeed. Maybe some of the other parts will be very different. We've only seen that much of it (I said this exact same thing with the first trailer  )

I have high hopes for it to be great.

Looks great to me, it'll keep me busy until the real thing in March. And this is going to be like Infamous vs Prototype again.

Hmm, looks more appealing to me than God of War.

Well good deal then. That is pretty much my point. There have been many great games that borrow heavily from others that came before it, yet they were able to add enough of their own spin to a proven formula to make the game their own. We know that Visceral is VERY good at doing this, and that is why all this, "clone" talk get's on my nerves. Who is to say they cannot take a tried and true formula and succeed by adding thier own twists to it?
