[QUOTE="001011000101101"]So the only thing this series has going for it, is it's difficulty. "Prepare to die".. lol. How sad. I'll stick to actually fun games instead something that's hard for the sake of being hard.001011000101101
That's mostly pure marketing, Dark Souls is much more than that, it also has amazing and satisfying combat, great Boss Battles, amazing atmosphere, great music, an interesting plot and yes is challenging yet extremely rewarding.
It's just that the only thing I ever hear about this game, is that it's crazy hard. A friend of mine played it, and he said it wasn't enjoyable at all because of the difficulty. Does it feel like it's your own fault when you die, or is it because of cheap/overpowered enemies?I like games like Trials Evolution because it's always your own fault if you fail. Same with games like N+ and so on. Dark Souls just looks so damn clumsy, and I could see myself die a lot because of the controls. But that's just judging from the vids.
If you have even the slightest obsessive streak, this game will work for you.
The first couple of hours show little/no progress. Lvelling up for the first time does'nt do much.
That means that you're probably weak and completely vulnerable when facing off against the first boss. Couple of hours later and your're going to have a challenged but competent character; be that a tough one, a fast one, a spellwielding one or any combination.
The dificulty is above all a matter of trying to play against the rules of the game IMO, the "SKyrim Syndrom" if you will; at least during the first playthrough, you really need to find your nieche.
I recommend not too heavy armour, for the sake of moving fluently before having high stats, along with a spear, something that hits hard and a ranged weapon.
