The games is certainly looking sweet and me hopes the game-play is the sweetness as well and ATM, I'm betting on it. :P

IYO what games for the other consoles is Fable 3 up against.. ya know, in the same genre and launching in close proximity ?

Any thoughts

I can't hardly wait to get started on this one and I just know, I tell ya I just know PM won't let me down cause the third time is the charm... AAA. 8)

Read the interview here:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-20-the-art-of-fable-iii-interview

Last few paragraphs...

Eurogamer: You've mentioned the scale of the game - can you compare that with Fable II, as an example?

John McCormack: It's... I don't know the logistics yet. It's definitely bigger than Fable II by a long way, but it's bigger in breadth, as well. We've got a lot more variation in this one. As you said, we never had an engine before - now, with the engine, iteration is faster. We're working at 10 times the speed we ever did on Fable II.

'The Art of Fable III' Screenshot 5

Eurogamer: Since the first Fable, you've moved away from the big armour, big swords, traditional fantasy aesthetic. Why did you decide to do that? Have you had any resistance to it?

John McCormack: We never want to lose our dark fairytale roots. We always intended to have creatures, but they're not in your face - they never have been. It's not a traditional fantasy world, but with Fable 1, we weren't brave enough in our **** We didn't make the world we wanted to make. We thought, well, we should have a dragon - that's just what we're expected to have.

Mike McCarthy: We've always wanted it to be more about the creepy, dark, European or Celtic ****folklore. The kind of fairytale that's very charming and quite eerie, but where utterly hideous things happen. If you read original fairytales, they're absolutely horrible - all sorts of terrible things happen, but in a very charming, dark, strange way, rather than having some guy in armour riding a dragon who comes and saves a village. It's more underplayed and eerie than that.

John McCormack: Plus, we want to create a world that actually makes sense in terms of its technological progress. Industrial progression does kill, or try to drive underground, all of that strangeness - it becomes folklore. The people in the game talk about the events of Fable 1 in that way - "Did that happen? Did trolls exist?" You know, they heard about it when they were kids. That's the natural order of the world, this stuff is driven underneath, into the woods.

Mike McCarthy: It also starts to inhabit the very stuff that's driving it underground. Everything starts to get slightly effected by the stuff that's going on underneath - so it's all a bit crooked and strange.

I like what Peter Molyneux is trying to do with this game. Still theres allways a big way from what he promisses and that he end´s up making. Let´s hope it delivers

How are these bullshots? Serious question. It looks like a slight upgrade technical wise to Fable 2, and still has the great art style (IMO). As long as they keep the frame rate locked to 30 FPS I'm happy.

It's one of the less impressive looking games coming out. But the game itself sounds good and I'm looking forward to it.

Looking good and I am fairly confident that this one will meet my expectations. As for your question, I don't really see any other RPG-lite sort of games that are releasing around the same time as Fable III. As for pure role playing games, there is Two Worlds II, Arcania: Gothic IV and Fallout: New Vegas releasing in the same month. On the action/adventure side there is Castlevania Lords of Shadow, but I don't really think that is comparable either in terms of genre. Fable III falls right in the middle, but leans more in the action/adventure direction. At any rate, October is going to be absolutely packed.

If it's as broken as Fable 2... Forget it.

Fable > Fable 2.

I bought Fable 2 at launch, beat it and felt the same then never looked at it again until last weekend. I played through it again from the beginning and now I sorta feel Fable 2 > Fable 1 so I dunno but this one I think will deliver the AAA goods. :)

We shall see.

It looks really good, but it reminds me of the unreal engine.

I've decided to read nothing about this game. I look at screenshots and that's it. That way, if I decide to get it, I won't be a victim of false/exaggerated claims.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Fallout: New Vegas I imagine are games people interested in Fable III would also have on their to-buy lists. In terms of sales I predict the list will go Fallout > Assassin's Creed > Fable.

Good idea, though Molyneux hasn't hyped it up as much as previous games anyway. Watching videos and whatnot, it looks interesting.

he fooled me once with Fable II and i wont let that happen again. Im gonna wait until a week or two after the game is out to make sure its not garbage and im not wasting my money. I still can't get over how they got rid of the armor system and how awful the coop was. I honestly think they never even played the game if they let it get released in that state. Story was awful too, and the combat was so easy that it was just boring. Cool graphics don't do it for me.

Doesn't really look grim enough for the story they're trying to pull off.

The Fable series was never renowned for its graphics.

And that graphical comparison is just bizarre.

I think that's interesting because I think of Fable 2 as having pretty good graphics but it's always gone for it's own style instead of plane old realism.

As long as they get rid of the ugly blur filter that was in Fable II I won't be disappointed by the graphics.

Doesn't really look grim enough for the story they're trying to pull off.

MetroidPrimePwn

Why would the entire game need to look grim?

Graphically, I think it could look much better. I think they should have spent more time working on improving the engine. I also dont really see anything all that interesting in this game. Dont get me wrong. Im going to buy it and Im sure I will like it. I just wish Lionhead would have worked on this for another year or so...

I think I'd agree with you on this, Fable 2 was a huge step up from the original and while I know the graphics difference can't be that big I would like to see a 360 title to at least try to compete in terms of graphics with PS3.

This game just looks very rushed to me.

I was hugely disappointed with Fable 2 so hopefully this one is a lot better.
