According to Bit-Tech, alot lol. Standards have definitely raised and with the amazing games like CoD4, GTA 4, FarCry 2, and Fallout 3 devs, especially those making shooters have to really put forth an effort to creating more unique/innovative elements and mechanics. Games like Gears 2 have such high producion values though so it's overshadowed.

But I think Gears 2 is an adequate and extensive sequel. Not in the same vein as Resistance 2 though.

Still think its going to be a great game regardless. AAA 9.0 at the lowest.

I would be greatly surprised if it went AA; lets face it in essence Halo 1 2 and 3 are, when you get down to it, increasingly polished versions of the same game. A game that quite frankly isn't known for its mind blowing storyline. It would be absolutely ridiculous if GoW2 gets relegated because of it's unamended gameplay or a, comparatively, weak story.

When it comes to sequels Resistance 2 is in a league of its own. Insomniac has smashed the standards set by companies Infinity Ward and Bungie. Resistance 3 confirmed.

Back on topic... Gears 2 will still be a great enough to get AAA IMO. Not a 9.5 type of sequel though.

Anyway, I do expect more of the same to be honest... and I dont expect the "wow!" factor to be in Gears 2 as much as it was in Gears 1... but it's going to be a great game.

Like in 2006, we hadnt seen those kind of graphics before... the over the shoulder camera was fairly new... the cover system was fairly new... etc... but here in 2008 we've had alot of games copy the same mechanics enough (GTAIV, Uncharted) that it'll all feel "expected" I guess you could say.

But, it's going to be awesome - and I cant wait.

Kinda what I was expecting. Sequels get hosed in general, regardless.

The game stays similar, it's called "more of the same". Change too much, and the game "loses what made it special in the first place".

I just want Epic to fix the issues that destroyed the first game in terms of multiplayer. Game-breaking bugs and glitches are killer on a game's value to me.

I know... but it's GEARS OF WAR 2... lol. I mean can you imagine if someone said Halo 3 was just another FPS? And when I say "someone"... I dont mean System Wars fanboys, lol. They would get ripped to shreds.

That isn't true, it was a very unique game in it's category but now that 15912535823 games after it play pretty close to it well.... it seems to be just another in the bunch, plus this isn't a bash it's more along the lines of *expect more of the same*

Who wants to pay $60 for the sequel of an underwhelming first-person space alien shooter? I haven't seen a R2 video that didn't put me to sleep.

Gears fans aren't looking for a new game, they are looking for Gears. If it is pretty much the same as before, with tweaks and nice additions whilst continuing the story, I am happy.

I am not looking for a new game, I am looking for Gears and by all accounts, that is what I am going to get with Gears 2.

If the sequel to an IP needs to reinvent the IP, that means that the original wasn't very good.

Come on, the guy called it Gears 1.1... Not even 1.5, but Gears 1.1! That would imply the story is the same as the first, the locations are the same, the vehicles are the same, the enemies are the same, and all the weapons are the same. We already know that this couldn't be further from the truth. This is the tweaked UE3 engine, and the best example of the UE3 engine to-date. Saying its nothing special is like saying the Ferrari Enzo is nothing special. The guy is a blatant hater. He complains about the game's hype? Since when did we start measuring games up to their perceived hype? We're talking about video games, not the damn Moon Landings here. What an awful prview.I mean this is the sequel to arguably one of the best games this gen,and all this guy can do is nit-pic?Hes just blatantly hating on this game from what I've read.Terrible.
