Crysis is no longer graphics king, as the graphics for this game are almost on par with real life.

What do you guys think?

From what I see you're just looking through a camera on a robot that is controlled by the iPhone. Sorry, not a graphics king.

Looks promising. Definitely better than that game Unreal engine tech demo.

You seem to be mistaken. The developers call it "The flying video game." It produces real life graphics; therefore, graphics king.

Someone calling something a videogame doesn't make it a videogame. If I called my plank of wood a horse would it be a horse?

If you carve that plank of wood into a horse, it can indeed be a horse.

I don't know what you're trying to go after with that metaphor. How is this not a video game? You look through a video screen with a HUD display that lets you control camera through space. That's exactly what the conventional video game does, only it is in a digital space rather than our space.

Sorry, I don't think so. :P It looks more like a cool app.

I wouldn't mind playing with that AR drone with camera though, looks fun, since it's a real life drone that takes pics and sends them to the iPhone or other device.

iPhonies (Phonies / Appleheads) will have fun with this though, taking pictures with an AR Drone.

I actually agree. In fact, I think it looks better than real life. Move over Unreal Engine, you have lost the throne. 100% graphics king.

It will get banned in Australia because of the stalking aspects of the game.

Then it'd be a wooden horse, which does not posses the same propeties as a real, alive horse.

Videogames are games where you control an avatar through virtual space.

That's exactly what the conventional video game does, only it is in a digital space rather than our space.

Then would you classify a brick in the same catagory as a bird? Because what you're saying is like saying that a brick is exactly like a bird only that it isn't living, it weighs more, it is not carbon based etc. etc.

I am glad someone is seeing the light I am seeing. Obviously System Wars will have a hard time accepting that Crysis just got dethroned by an unconventional video game. But look at it this way, history repeats itself. People are intolerant over new ideas. Look at when sound was first introduced in movies, and when they became color. People were naysayers back then to, but look where TV and movies ended up today! I think down the road all video games with be real life quality! Like that movie called Gamer. I think that's where we're heading.

It cannot be classified as a bird, it can however be classified as a sculpture of a bird. Since there is a main thing seperating the live bird from the sculpture.

The fact that the bird is actually alive, it is one thing but it makes the bird a bird rather than a sculpture. Samething applies to your statement.

In our space he is an image projected onto the screen by a graphical engine that renders the lighting, polygons, bump mapping and textures.

In Uncharted's in-game universe he is a man who seeks treasures and various other objects.

Stop putting words in my mouth. I never said videogames weren't real, you're just running out of poorly formed arguments that would fall over if I so much cough on it. And by the way.

In-game =/= Real life, I never thought I had to explain that to someone on a videogames forum.

Then I don't know what the whole plank of wood vs. horse thing was all about. Of course I can recreate that piece of wood into a horse with good craftsmanship, just as video games are recreations of real life activities and imaginations that people came up with.

Because Nathan Drake in his in-game universe is a man yet he is not a physical being in our universe.

You don't need to bold up your words like that. I can read you just fine.

I'm glad that at least some people in this thread agree with me. I guess it was expected that System Wars would go all defensive over my game. The only thing that can beat Crysis is another PC game. Right, got it. If it's on iPhone + Real life visual on a screen, it doesn't count.

Okay, because you didn't seem to get it.

And of course an iPhone wouldn't beat a rendered in real-time PC game. It doesn't even have enough processing power to match a last generation PC.

But it's still a video game considered the fact that you watch images off of a screen and manipulate its movement with an in-game HUD. A video game does not have to strictly be within a virtual world.

Controlling an avatar in the virtual world is what a videogame is. What you're describing is a high tech remote controlled vehicle.

World English Dictionary video game — n
any of various games that can be played by using an electronic control to move points of light or graphical symbols on the screen of a visual display unit

Well where to start first of all the controls seemed so unresponsive he tilts the phone long before the drone moves, second the camera footage and the place where the drone is looking don't always seem to match up and last if that is graphics king game because of real life footage Night Trap on the Sega Cd beat it to it:P

Bullshots, obviously. Low res, lame main character, and the game is confined to one room. I'll pass.

They need to make an actual game with that craft in it.

Then how does this beast of an iPhone game manage to produce real life visuals?

Nerd_Man

Because you're looking through a camera via a iPhone in real life, no visuals apart from the UI is being rendered by a graphics engine in real time.

But it's still a video game considered the fact that you watch images off of a screen and manipulate its movement with an in-game HUD. A video game does not have to strictly be within a virtual world.

Next thing they'll be saying is that gifs don't count as proper film, experimental or not.

I can just imagine people adding weapons like swords to their drones and putting them in an arena. It'll be just like playing an online video game.. oh wait..

This is really just a glorified RC. In fact, it's probably a lackluster one at that, in comparison to the real thing.

Bullshots, obviously. Low res, lame main character, and the game is confined to one room. I'll pass.

Heirren
Actually it is NOT confined to just one room. This game runs on WiFi, so you can remain connected to the drone pretty much anywhere. Here's another gameplay trailer to show you guys what you can do.

I agree. Everyone else denying such claims are wrong.

The problem with forums is you never know if someone's serious. On one hand, I'm hoping you don't honestly think that a laggy video feed is the same as computer graphics (joke threads are nice), but on the other it'd be equally funny if you did.

I would like to note that this thing looks really cool.
