gameplay? more like interactive movie play lol

If thats the case we might as well say 99% of rpgs don't have gameplay. They are interactive movies.
Didn't cows bash Ninja Blade for QTEs? More importantly so did Gamespot's reviewer..so..I expect a nice dose of hypocricy as usual. DeadMagazinesI think Heavy Rain will score worse than Ninja Blade since it wont have the engaging story of NB or permanent consequences like NB.

I don't see any resemblance in that whatsoever. Either way, I've been psyched for a dynamic QTE game like this for a long time so I can't wait :D.[QUOTE="bigblunt537"][QUOTE="sikanderahmed"]

Either way, I've been psyched for a dynamic QTE game like this for a long time so I can't wait :D.The resemblance is that in rpgs you highlight a text press x and they attack. The only time you control your character is to walk around. This game you walk around just like in an rpg, but the action events are done by qte's. That's a great resemblance. Also remember i said most rpgs not all. Kingdom Hearts type game obviously break the original formula.
Didn't cows bash Ninja Blade for QTEs? More importantly so did Gamespot's reviewer..so..I expect a nice dose of hypocricy as usual. DeadMagazinesNinja Blade is supposed to be a Hack n Slash game. The genre for Heavy Rain is an Adventure game. One is focused on killing the other is focused on delivering a story. If you played Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) you'd know how great of a game that was even with all the QTEs.

Really? That's your way of comparing "most" rpg's (which it's not most)? I think you're really gonna need to dive more into some more relevant than highlighted targets to interactive movie.

An Adventure game that highlights everything for you, rather play Sam and Max or Grim Fandango

Have you even played that many RPGs? Morrowind, Duex Ex, Baulder's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Planscape tournament, Fallout, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Breathe of Fire, Mass Effect? Seriously!?
Edit: Unless you are talking about interactive movies in their most vague sense. A story in which you interact, then all games would be considered interactive movie

Well almost all jrpgs are very simple. You walk around you talk to people and a scene starts. Now while travelling you either have random encounters or pysical beings that when you get close enough to they run at you. Battle starts: You have several options, but your character stands sitll until a decision is made. You can click attack/magic/option or whatever custom menu they use in their game. Once you click that you have several attack/option choices. You click "Sky dagger fly attack" Your character does what you chose for it to do, but you didn't control him at all. Same as you walking into a store. You talking tot he guy. You walk to the back and when you do someone tries to rob the store. Now you try to go save the cashier an action scene pops up and now you control the action via QTE's. It's really not hard to see the resemblance.
Also how is it not most? Rpgs have had this same formula since way before snes. Only the last 2 gens or so have had different type of rpgs and before that barely no rpgs differed with maybe a very few amount of exceptions.

Okay but you said 99% of rpgs, and it is clear that you have not played many JRPG after reading your post.

Do you really want me to start making a list of rpgs that follow this formula comapred to the few that don't? I'll be here for ever and I'm sure my list will show atleast above 85% of rpgs agree with this formula. Also I've been playing rpgs since snes days.
Look I'm not trying to have this argument. Point is that this game has gameplay and if to say no you are saying the majority of rpgs don't have gameplay either since both are very similar in terms of gameplay.

Didn't cows bash Ninja Blade for QTEs? More importantly so did Gamespot's reviewer..so..I expect a nice dose of hypocricy as usual. DeadMagazinesDude, you know what you are getting in this game. And the reason people bashed the QTEs in NB was because they were overused for the type of game it was. This game has been touted as a game all about story. From the very beginning the devs have told you, this game is trying something new, we are putting story above gameplay. There is no reason to complain about this game, there are no misleading ads or anything. You aren't promised action packed fast ace gameplay. What you guys are doing is the same as hating on an FPS for being first person. You know what an FPS entails, therefore you have no reason to complain about the basic construct of the game. Same applies here, the devs told you what type of game this was, and surely it's not for everyone, but to complain about it is just sad.

Alright fine, but how many pc rpgs are jrpgs? Also how many are them compared to the jrpg styled games that have been produced since forever?
Given what happened with Indigo Prophecy aka Fahrenheit, I expect...disappointment. Toriko42
I love Indigo Prophecy. One of my favorite pc games last gen The only problem I had was the ending which amde me think "WTF?"

You compared all rpgs not just jrpgs, so if you want to talk about jrpgs that would be different. And you still haven't played that many different JRPGs to make that sort of a statement.

Well your correcting maybe not 99%, but whatever the % maybe which I expect to be well above the majority point my main reason for the post was to say that this game does have gameplay whether others like it or not. Also I have played so many rpgs that your opinion about me having played that many is wrong, but since this arguement goes completely off topic from my post lts let this die now. Do people think FFX,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 have no gameplay? BTW I love rpg's I'm just tired of people saying HR has no gameplay.

[QUOTE="Toriko42"]Given what happened with Indigo Prophecy aka Fahrenheit, I expect...disappointment. NAPK1NSGiven the fact that most all of your posts down the PS3, I expect... this kind of post. Do they? I am hyped for God of War 3 and Uncharted 2, I have a huge love for Metal Gear Solid in every post I make, Kojima is my favorite game developer, I have expressed the desire to buy a PS3 slim many times, I express love for LBP all the time, oh wait, I hated on Killzone 2 because the game is generic, oh no, I must hate the PS3
Gameplay - push button. Thats it. At least Fahrenheit had some interaction and immersion with the controls. biggest_loser
What? I wouldn't go that far. Pressing QTE's while running away from imaginary bugs in a bank office or playing the guitar isn't what I would call immersive. Or perhaps *Click, Move Cursor Down, Release Click* is what your talking about?
Indigo and this look almost exactly alike. This one is just prettier and hopefully doesn't have a stupid ending. Thats good enough for me. Day one.
