This is my worst gaming nightmare given flesh.
I hate quick time events, yet every video I have seen of this game seems to only contain that.
What next? A game which is one giant escort mission? Oh yeah that was RES 5 from what I hear.

Didn't cows bash Ninja Blade for QTEs? More importantly so did Gamespot's reviewer..so..I expect a nice dose of hypocricy as usual. DeadMagazinesnija blade was posed to be a hak n slash type deal tho

gameplay? more like interactive movie play lol

If thats the case we might as well say 99% of rpgs don't have gameplay. They are interactive movies.
nope because in rpgs you are consciously make a choice as to what you do next in heavy rain you press a button when it comes up on screen so the movie will keep playing and you wont die even you should be able to tell the differenceWell....Ehh...I dunno.
I admit the scene was pretty compelling. But it's still a game made by the same idiot who wrote Indigo Propehcy: perhaps the worst story known in the realm of videogames.
I need evidene of three things before I consider getting this game:
1) That it won't end up like Indigo Prophecy.
2) That the amount of QTE will be severely downgraded from Indigo Prophecy.
3) That he's not going to leave little political snippets in the periphery elements of the game like he did in Indigo Prophecy.
DON'T BE LIKE INDIGO PROPHECY!!

Didn't they say if a character dies there isn't a game over?

so the movie plays out differently depending on whether you press the button at the correct time. it's still an interactive movie t
hey mentioned that the story would carry on regardless of which character dies but the ending would suck and the game would be very short. so i guess there'll just be less cutscenes
either way game sounds crap, especially compared to rpgs like alpha protocol, infinite space, strange journey and the untitled zombie rpg from brian mitsoda

I think Heavy Rain will score worse than Ninja Blade since it wont have the engaging story of NB or permanent consequences like NB.[QUOTE="DeadMagazines"]Didn't cows bash Ninja Blade for QTEs? More importantly so did Gamespot's reviewer..so..I expect a nice dose of hypocricy as usual. emorainbo
Engaging story? The entire game is all about the story. That's the main focus of the entire thing. No permanent consequences? I guess if you mess up and your character dies and is dead with no chance of respawning, that isn't considered a permanent consequence?
HEY GUYS! Here's what happens after the bottle drops....AND with audio and in HD! This game looks sick. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-09-heavy-rain/54442Jrfanfreak88
Thanks for that. Wow, really well done scene is really well done.

The character models are amazing. Their expressions and detail in the mouths are amazing, looks quite convincing. Plus it seems to be all real time since you can move around and there are different camera angles at the same time, much like MGS4.man this game looks great.. cant wait for this one.. PS3 dishing out great games lately its a pain in my wallet. :P
[QUOTE="biggest_loser"]Gameplay - push button. Thats it. At least Fahrenheit had some interaction and immersion with the controls. CosbyOwnsStuff
What? I wouldn't go that far. Pressing QTE's while running away from imaginary bugs in a bank office or playing the guitar isn't what I would call immersive. Or perhaps *Click, Move Cursor Down, Release Click* is what your talking about?
Indigo and this look almost exactly alike. This one is just prettier and hopefully doesn't have a stupid ending. Thats good enough for me. Day one.
Yeah I was talking about the way in which you have to utilise the controls as though you were using an object yes. I don't see what people like about this apart from the visuals. There is no depth to the game play.[QUOTE="CosbyOwnsStuff"][QUOTE="biggest_loser"]Gameplay - push button. Thats it. The depth is the story. The actions you take will change the story.
You can have the deepest narrative you want, but this is a GAME not a movie - the crux of any video game is what you actually do in it; the game play, how you interact and control your character. From what I've seen you have a bare minimum level of control over what you can do in this game. Little chance for improvisation as the game tells you what to do all the time, in regards to those little icons that come up on the screen.Yeah I was talking about the way in which you have to utilise the controls as though you were using an object yes. I'm not contesting any of those points. Yes the actions have outcomes on the story, but the actually actions themselves - what you actually DO in the game - has about the depth of a puddle.
The facial details reminds me of Mass Effect. Really well done. Voice acting is quite good. I don't see why some people are complaining about the voice acting.

The ending! I want to see what happens. Anyways, I am very interested in this game. It reminds me of my time with Lost World and Dragons Lair.
Is there any other type of gameplay other then quick time events?SilentlyMadYou have the freedom to walk around the levels but from what has been seen in the videos is that all your actions - from dodging, breaking out of the car, picking up something off the shelf, putting makeup - are like quick time events.
the more the show from it, the less like an adventure game it looks gameplay-wise:?, altough it's Quantic Dream, I guess that was to be expected

'Interactive Movie' games: http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/x,60/offset,0/so,1a/list-games/
"An interactive movie is a video game presented using full-motion video of either animated or live-action footage. As the presentation styIe has fallen out of favor, the term is sometimes used in a derogatory way to describe games that have a heavy emphasis on cut scenes and plot, at the expense of engaging gameplay.
The first commercial interactive movie game was the 1983 arcade game Dragon's Lair, featuring a full-motion (FMV) cartoon by ex-Disney animator Don Bluth, where the player controlled some of the moves of the main character. When in danger, the player was to decide which move or action, or combination to choose. If they chose the wrong move, they would see a 'lose a life' scene, until they found the correct one which would allow them to see the rest of the story. There was only one possible successful storyline in Dragon's Lair; the only activity the user had was to choose or guess the move the designers intended them to make. Despite the lack of interactivity, Dragon's Lair was very popular and addictive, and has since received a remake on modern day gaming consoles (except with a complete genre change)."
Only xbots would go and say stuff like its movie and you dont play you watch etc -.-
This a diferente original IP, a new try at game genres and if this story turn out to spectacular (a la MGS or any other epic gaming story line), this game meybe be rembered for yeard to come
looks good.
People bash this for not being a proper game. But why should that matter? Its entertainment.
And anyway I love a good story.
This is like one of those books where you choose what happens (tried one of those, theyre garbage) excpet its in motion which is cool.
It actually looks better than ME2 facial details and facial animations IMO (from the videos I've seen). Probably better than Uncharted 2. At least just as good as U2. People were making fun of the E3 videos, which were pretty bad if I must say so myself . The new videos are a big improvement IMO.The facial details reminds me of Mass Effect. Really well done. Voice acting is quite good. I don't see why some people are complaining about the voice acting.
