The new id FPS/Racer , RAGE, is being developed for PC, MAC, PS3, and XBOX. All versions will require 2 discs, except for the PS3...of course.
Why Doesnt Rockstar do the Same with GTA, instead of cutting content ? What All the other games, why wont they just use 2 disks like IdRAGE?me999
Where's the Wii version......? chalk another one up for the PS3 and 360 only multiplat side.
[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]So whats the big deal here?Ninja-Vox
Cows like to pretend you'll be switching the disc every two minutes. I guess it helps them sleep at night.
The only people who care are the cows, and they do not need to worry about it. So this is kinda pointless if you ask me.Why Doesnt Rockstar do the Same with GTA, instead of cutting content ? What All the other games, why wont they just use 2 disks like IdRAGE?

I thought because it was an open ended enviroment. If you wanted to technically make the game bigger, wouldn't it be a pain to switch disks evertime you crossed I-35?
Also you have to think of the costs involved. There is a reason why they don't want to add another disk....it's another cost. If you know you are going to sell 10 million copies......that's 10 million extra disks and time to burn those disks. Mayhbe they save 10 million alone having it on one disk lol.
[QUOTE="KEM92"][QUOTE="3picuri3"]:|. wow that's your argument. you think getting up walking 3 feet to your console and changing a damn disk makes you fit??? LMAO wow. have with that anyway[QUOTE="KEM92"][QUOTE="3picuri3"]sweet - finally they're making multi-disc games :) i personally have no problem swapping discs because I'm not a fat/lazy/invalid. 3picuri3
wow - that's your response
didn't say it was fit, but some of you lazy people obviously have a problem swapping discs, which i find embarassing (for you guys) and incredibly hilarious. you must all be lazy bed ridden people that can't move.
i grew up with games that required disc swaps, back when some games came on 15 floppy discs. so i think i can deal.
i weep for you young ones, everything needs to be easy - instant gratification FTW.
LMAO. so what your saying is because we don't have to switch disks we're fat. LMAO that's dumb. it's not our fault we have a next gen format in our console.well i have a rule - i never try to explain something to someone 3 times. if they don't get it the 2nd time they're not worth it ;)
hhhmmm?? oh sorry i was done with you a long time ago. that's why you got no respone. you waste my time. i might have stayed if you made any sense but sadly you don't.buh bye.You know what? Resident Evil 4 has two discs (GC version). That didn't stop it from becoming Game of the Year.
There is absolutely nothing to complain about here.
Rockclmbr6
Sure there is. If Resident Evil 4 came out on PS2 first, then that version would have gotten the game of the year and it's on one disk. But I can understand why it came on to disks for the GC. The disks could only hold 1.5 GB. There is no excuse for this to happen on the 360.

Mainly because it's annoying to have to switch disks in the middle of a game. If space was a problem with the 360 as it seems to be, (Thanks for making them delay the game MS!) they should have kept it a PS3 only title and it would be out this year as planned.
That game is 2 disks on all but the PS3 because the PS3 is Blu Ray and has less to no limits right now. 25 gigs baby!
Unholy_Smite
MS didn't delay GTA 4 for what I read it was R* that delayed the game not MS:)...Fanboys will be fanboys blaming MS for all the stuff that happens...Who and Blu-Ray I believe has about 50GB of space..Cows:roll:

Yeah that's true Cows brag about BRay but all of us have swapped disks:lol:
Conflicting statements from him..
1: Q: If Rage will ship on 2 DVDs, how will that work for multi-console?
A: The source data is more than that even. We go through tons of data compression, so the game is segmented in that regard. I wouldn't expect an HD DVD release for Rage though. What's interesting though is that it all fits fine with a 256m video card. On PS3, video requirements doesn't even completely use the 256 video memory; we wish we could use more in other places. Bottom line, it can be compressed from source.
I don't think this is about switching discs.
What this shows is that bluray is actually useful this gen.Which several people on this forum were quick to disagree with.
However, I'm surprised this has happened so early in the generation.
Two disc games for a game like GTA is horrible. Imagine driving to another part of the city, and suddenly you get a message *Please insert disc 2*. Then as soon as you get to the place you had to go to, you realise you forgot to bring the right stuff and you have to go back to the place you came from. So you'll constantly be seeing *Please insert disc X*.Can-o-Mark
Shenmue had 3 disks and it didnt work that way. In fact thats not ever how it has worked. Its not like certain disks will contain certain areas of the game... go backj and play a multi-disk title and youll see how it works.
also GTA wasnt delayed because of limited space on a DVD.
Oh no, you have to switch discs every few hours, oh the horror. I'm pretty sure saving 20 seconds of time isn't exactly what I'd call a reason to take the ps3 version over other versions.

Exactly :) So I have a valid argument because I can choose. I can buy it for both the 360 or the PS3.

5-8 hours is extremely bad! What are you saying? Are you insane? I can live with changing disks every 20 hours like an RPG, but for a FPS or a racing game?
some of you dont seem to get it. its ok to have multi disk for a pc game because you install it once and never have to see the disk again. its also ok to have multipul disk in a linear rpg like ff vi was because everytime you switch a disk you move foward in the story not having to go back. but in an open world game on a console thats just a pain in the ass every time you cross a certin point your going to have to switch a disk that would suck. but if they did something like put the single player on one disk and put the multiplayer on another that would be ok.

Uh, you do know the reason for the delay is unknown and rumour has it it's because of the PS3, right?
Anyway, multiple discs for PC hardly matters. Even if it had 50 discs it wouldn't matter. After installation, you won't have to use even one disc anyway.
Actually, everybody thats not a blind fanboy (not saying you are one, you could simply be uninformed), already knows it is because of the 360 that it is delayed. There has already been plenty of post posted with all kinds of different links all pretty much saying the samething. It is because the 360 is DVD and also because not every 360 comes with a HDD. So while I have no clue (guessing fanboy rumors from those in denial) where you got your rumors, the FACT is it is because of what I listed above.[QUOTE="inertk"]Whats UE3? Or did you mean UT3? If not, then once again, what is UE3?The game looks amazing. o: Downloaded the HDtrailer and it's omgwtfbbq.
Their engine looks better than UE3 to me, and the game is running at 60fps to boot.

Um...........ya, we are talking about GTA4, not Halo. So wtf "monsters" are you talking about?DVD:
Shoot monsters - Get in vehicle - drive to next area - change disk - do objective - shoot monsters - next area - change disk - shoot monsters - get in vehicle - drive back to previous area - change disk.
Blu-Ray for teh win!

You won't have to worry about more than 1 disk. Microsoft refuses to allow Rockstar to release it on 2 disk. And MS has a iron clad agreement that prevents Rockstar from releasing the PS3 version until the 360 is alo ready, so now not only does the 360 version get delayed, but with the agreement, the PS3 also gets delayed. Honestly, with all the threads with links, I am suprised there are actually still people that have no clue.I'll be playing the game with exactly zero discs beat that cows.Metroid_TimeI am a PC gamer, but not stupid. The PS3 version still wins in this area. You say you need no disk. Ok, well the PS3 would need one disk. But the PS3 version would still load faster. Want proof? When it releases, I want to to install it on the PC. Now shut the PC off. Turn it on as well as the PS3 and insert the disk in the PS3. Sorry, but the PS3 would boot up alot faster, which would lead to the game getting loaded faster. The PC may have no disk, but it takes longer to boot the PC up vs a PS3.
