[QUOTE="EXLINK"]Until they add some cover system, improve the textures and actually create SMART AI then this game will flop. Right now the only thing that it has going for it is the lighting engine. Everything else looks sub-par to today's standards.NutJobJim
Not sure if this a joke, or if you haven't been following the game, but Killzone2 has a cover system. In fact it has a first person cover system as well as destructible cover. These two elements combine to create what sounds like a highly unique and balanced cover system.
As for the textures. Firstly they aren't even that bad. The reason people jump on the textures is because everything else looks stunning and they need something to jump on. Secondly IT IS PRE-ALPHA. Guerrilla have already said they will improve the textures in the 6+ months of dev time they have left.
As for he AI. There is absolutely no way you can judge the AI from just these videos. For a start these are on stage demonstrations and they always play those in Godmode with the AI dumbed down. You can't even begin to judge the AI until you play it for yourself. The one or two previews where people have actually played the game said that the AI was great in the game, so you might want to read up on the game before you jump the gun.
Lastly if you think the animation in this game are sub par you are absolutely crazy. Show me a console game with better animations.
I'll be honest, I haven't been following this game as much as others do. All I've done is watched the videos and some interviews and I just hadn't seen any cover system so I assumed there just wasn't going to be one.
And no, the textures are bad, there you can't fool me. They purposely made the game look incredibly muddy and dark to cover up the lack of good textures. Dev's can say all they want about what they will do, but half of the time it just doesn't turn out the way they say.
And the AI still looks very dumb, even for the demo's they were showing. The enemies just literally sat there looking at him and shooting. They didn't take cover or anything. If he was in God Mode, why not turn up the AI a bit more so people could actually see the challenge of it all?
And I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "animations", because if you mean what they do when they die then its nothing great. They're just ragdolls.
Overall, right now Killzone 2 just looks like a tech demo for its Lighting Engine. Until I actually SEE these things change in videos then I will not change my statement about the dumb AI and the lack of good textures.
