Hey, instead of making a separate thread for it, I'm just going to post this here. In the GameSpot article on the front page, it says that Mario Kart 8 "will allow you to...customize which items appear (or don't) in races."
I don't know if this was already known, but thank fucking God! It appears we will able to turn off the blue shell.

This game looks unbelievable. Call me crazy but I predict Nintendo will make a comeback over the course of this generation. Maybe not with the wiiu, wholly, but in the minds of gamers. I think Sony and MS still may try and push dlc, yearly releases too hard and make nintendos polish all the more apparent.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nintendo in HD is a thing of beauty. If you don't have a Wii U this gen you're gonna miss out on something special.

Very, very few people dispute that Nintendo can make a handful of good to amazing exclusives per year. We know this. To be blunt, from a business point of view, your sarcasm is actually correct: it DOESN'T matter how good this game is. WiiU is still failing miserably.
I'll be buying Mario Kart, looks fantastic and I predict a AAA score here on Gamespot and also on Metacritic. (assuming the online holds up)
But that won't make it the ultimate saviour of WiiU, or suddenly start selling millions of consoles.

Well, it's news for the game as far as details go. We didn't previously know how many tracks there were. :P
I was actually hoping there might be 40 tracks since Mario Kart Wii had thirty-two as well.

I mean I was just hoping for more tracks. I think they started having thirty-two at the DS one.
Get it for this and Wind Waker HD and the new inevitable Zelda, X, Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, and you know what, **** it, the Wii U's list of great exclusives is gigantic.
This game is already preordered. Shy Guy, Iggy or Roy Koopa, Bowser and My Mii will be my characters.
I'm glad to see Lakitu playable as well.
Mario Kart Wii's online is still going strong too. I was recently playing it.

Just saw the preview on gamespot and it's looking very good. Graphics look nice and the gameplay looks like it will combine the best of previous MK.
If it had a track editor, which I hope it does, it would have infinite replayability.

might be from Super Circuit for GBA? I don't recall any of the Mario circuit tracks from SNES having puddles like that.
It's Mario Circuit 3 from SNES. The last few corners going into the finish line. I hope they have Ghost Valley 1 and some of the battle levels from SNES too.
It looks beautiful, I would skip this game if a friend wasn't getting it also. Burned out on Nintendo franchises at the moment, I just need a break and I'll come back to them later on.
