This is my most anticipated game of the year. May can't come soon enough.
You know it looks amazing because we've got idiots like Xboxdone and FreedomFromLife posting in here hating on it.
Hey, instead of making a separate thread for it, I'm just going to post this here. In the GameSpot article on the front page, it says that Mario Kart 8 "will allow you to...customize which items appear (or don't) in races."
I don't know if this was already known, but thank fucking God! It appears we will able to turn off the blue shell.

AAA for sure so :P
This game looks unbelievable. Call me crazy but I predict Nintendo will make a comeback over the course of this generation. Maybe not with the wiiu, wholly, but in the minds of gamers. I think Sony and MS still may try and push dlc, yearly releases too hard and make nintendos polish all the more apparent.
@Heirren: Doesn't matter how good the game is, nintendo is still doomed, going out of business etc etc etc

Very, very few people dispute that Nintendo can make a handful of good to amazing exclusives per year. We know this. To be blunt, from a business point of view, your sarcasm is actually correct: it DOESN'T matter how good this game is. WiiU is still failing miserably.
I'll be buying Mario Kart, looks fantastic and I predict a AAA score here on Gamespot and also on Metacritic. (assuming the online holds up)
But that won't make it the ultimate saviour of WiiU, or suddenly start selling millions of consoles.
@locopatho: my point is people can't seem to discuss about a good wii u game without bringing up whether or not it's going to "save" the console

Ah gotcha. Agree, it's nicer to discuss the quality :)
I think this could be WiiU game of the year, unless something like X comes out for Christmas.
Awesome. So we finally get to see what Mario Kart 6 should have looked like in 2008.
Only 6 years late.
This...yeah.
This game is stunningly beautiful.
There have also been a bunch of new details revealed today, like being able to turn certain items *cough*blue shell*cough* on and off and there being thirty-two tracks. Are these details in your hype thread yet?

No, I'll update it in a bit.

No offense but how is having 32 tracks news? :P I'd just call it mario kart. lol

Well, it's news for the game as far as details go. We didn't previously know how many tracks there were. :P
I was actually hoping there might be 40 tracks since Mario Kart Wii had thirty-two as well.

there are always 16 new though and 16 retro? lol How does MK wii having the usual number make it possible for this one to have 40? unless I'm wrong and they don't all have 32....

I mean I was just hoping for more tracks. I think they started having thirty-two at the DS one.
Looks good but not buying a Wii U for it
Get it for this and Wind Waker HD and the new inevitable Zelda, X, Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, and you know what, **** it, the Wii U's list of great exclusives is gigantic.
This is probably the only big Nintendo release that I won't be getting... Mario Kart just doesn't do it for me any more.
This game is already preordered. Shy Guy, Iggy or Roy Koopa, Bowser and My Mii will be my characters.
I'm glad to see Lakitu playable as well.
Mario Kart Wii's online is still going strong too. I was recently playing it.
Very pretty.
Would've been cool if it had a track editor.
Just saw the preview on gamespot and it's looking very good. Graphics look nice and the gameplay looks like it will combine the best of previous MK.
If it had a track editor, which I hope it does, it would have infinite replayability.
Looks amazing alright, whoa!
That's a remade track right ?
Can't put my finger on it.... is it mario circuit from SNES ?
might be from Super Circuit for GBA? I don't recall any of the Mario circuit tracks from SNES having puddles like that.
It's Mario Circuit 3 from SNES. The last few corners going into the finish line. I hope they have Ghost Valley 1 and some of the battle levels from SNES too.
Very pretty.

It's Donut Plains 3 from the SNES version. Check the video at around 3 min.

Love the remake of Moo Moo Meadows.
Won't help the WiiU much though. Not even Jesus can save that thing.
I read this in Heisenberg's voice.
Oh man if something like mario kart looks this good imagine what zelda must look like.
Even if they go with a colorful artstyle it'll still look gorgeous with all the advanced lighting effects
@R4gn4r0k: No problem. I didn't remember either until I saw the vid. :P
@Demonjoe93: Yeah looks great. A bit less colorful tho. :P
@Shinobishyguy: You were the only one who brought this up. Because you've got a personal victim complex and get off on the negativity.
