New Mario title in development - EAD Tokyo

Makes me wonder - will it be a sequel to Galaxy or a new spin on the series like 3D World or maybe something completely new? We don't know if it's for 3DS or Wii U yet, but I have a feeling that Ninty has faith in both systems (not just 3DS)!

I'm guessing it's going to be a full-on 3D Mario games. It won't be a Galaxy game. I think it will be something different.

Please let it be a true 3D mario title like Galaxy, 64, and Sunshine.

The fixed camera in 3D world is neat for awhile...then when the stages begin to get really difficult (mostly in world flower) the weird perspective begins to show it's flaws.

It works...but when you require precise movement it gets super annoying and at times feel downright broken.

Again...this only comes to the surface if you're on a hunt for all the collectibles.

That said...no more of these kinds of mario games please...thank you.

I loved Mario 64, would be cool to see a next gen follow up to that

Considering how BEAUTIFUL these Wii U games have been, hell even Tropical Freeze is pure eye candy at times, I would LOVE to see mario's world brought to life in full Wii U HD beauty without the boxiness of the "3D world/land" style.

A true super mario WORLD.

I'm loving Tropical Freeze too. I really don't get how anyone can complain about Wii U graphics. I mean, being realistic, it's not going to be on the same field as PS4, but still, pretty good.

I'm done playing Mario games, so I personally dont care.

Haha its all the PS4 has to differentiate itself from the competition, it certainly cant sell itself based on amazing software and features. Whilst I dont own a Wii U I have been looking at buying one for a while, hopefully this game will be the push I need. I am still just not sure about the Wii U controller, I just cant see myself with it haha.

It's probably Mario Galaxy 3, but...

I wish they'd let Mario rest for a bit.

Originally I didn't think I would be into the Gamepad, but I really like it. It just feels right when you use it.

any new mario title would be good especally on wiiU i liked the 3 out already -nsmb nslu and super mario 3d world i did like super mario galaxys 64 and sunshine as well so any mario game is gold for me

Hopefully it's a Paper Mario TTYD Sequel for WiiU. Super Paper Mario does not count.

Don't know whether to be excited or not. I liked 3D World, but man, it made me realize I'm bored of these games.

I wish nintendo made an open space Metroid game that you explore meteorites and small planets each with their own story. ( doesn't have to be too deep just mini stories like side quest stories ) and all through pieces of the main story.. and in a sense.. it'll be an open world metroid game that we'll all love and buy it as much as Zelda.

But nintendo hates metroid... ):

Too many Mario games, Mario's main games were once a rare treat. Like 1 per console maybe two. Ever since the Wii its been non stop mario every freakin year.

This is EAD Tokyo, not Intelligent Systems.

Super Mario 3D World was fun and all, but it didn't have that thing that made each Mario game unique (Galaxy's space, Sunshine's FLUDD, 64's 3D Perspective)
But, I do hope they work on something else soon, I can do without a new Mario game for another 2 years.

I'm tired of Mario. Give it a rest for a few years and pay attention to the rest of your franchises.

lf it isn't a full on Super Mario 64/Sunshine type Mario game.. l can't even fathom why this game is being made.

They have made multiple versions of about every possible iteration of a linear mario in the past 7 years..

Super Mario 3D World, great. New Super Mario Bros U, great.

But, to venture a guess, the "core" Nintendo fan wants a true 3D Mario ala Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy (I'm aware these 3 games are different).

A true 3D Mario. Sign me up.

I think Mario 3D World was awesome but as some have said, didn't enjoy that fixed camera and intense linearity.

That one level where it was a big open plain with lots of different things to see and bunnies to chase was like a cruel tease to me :P

Love to see some giant open sandbox levels in a new 3D Mario. Please understand, no more 2D/2.5D ones :P

I hope STEAM does not turn out to be an eShop game or something crappy like Steel Diver.

Super Mario Galaxy 3 would be AMAZING but I agree that Nintendo could give Mario a break for a bit.

If they are making a new 3D Mario that's similar to Super Mario 64 then I might be interested. But I do feel that after they are done with that new Mario game that they are working on, Nintendo really needs to give Mario a break.

It'll still be used in "List Wars" to show Ninty make new IPs, even if it sucks. Gotta be careful and specify GOOD new ips or the sheep start listing disasters like Disaster :P

They are making a new Fire Emblem for the Wii-U actually. It's a cross-over between that series and Shin Megami Tensei.

Isn't it safe to assume there is always a mario title in development?

We just got a fire emblem last year, and we also have the smt crossover in development.

But Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, Earthbound, etc. All have fans begging Nintendo for new games; Meanwhile Nintendo ignores them and spams Mario every year, expecting it to turn things around for the Wii U.

Whatever you're making, EAD Tokyo, take your time. As valuable as Shiggy is for feedback, he is one man and Sticker Stars should be a glaring example why you should never let one man take complete control.

I'm actually talking about a FE Wii-U version which the last console version was back in 2007. Even including Awakening there's only been 2 FE games since 2007.

I'd rather have a new IP that isn't a wash however, that sims 3ds title looks beyond stupid.

If it's Galaxy 3, I'm buying a Wii U.

by console only dont count handheld as their aimed at different markets

and cod comes every year regardless of how crappy it is , so ya id rather have a fun mario game every 2 yrs or so then a cod every yr ,
