Slightly more recent preview though isn't it? You have missed the point of the quote though. During conversation it mentions nothing about cutscreens or improved graphics, just blurred backgrounds while the characters 'STAY crisp and in focus.'deviates1080
I'm saying thats not the case for the X06 footage. Nothing blurs in the background.
[QUOTE="Verge_6"][QUOTE="Memnock"][QUOTE="Verge_6"][QUOTE="Memnock"]Guys don't be fooled, I'm the biggest Mass Effect fanboy of all, it's by far my most anticipated game, but while those screenshots are in-engine, they are certainly not in-game. You don't get that level of in-game detail in all but the top of the line PC games. That said the game will still look amazing and be amazing. I love the art style, and the models they chose for the alien races. A huge step up from the likes of Halo and all other sci-fi games. Good job Bioware. deviates1080
Why can't it? Bioware has NEVER used anything but the in-game engine to render characters. The only CGI sequences are of ships and the like. Hell, the devs THEMSELVES stated it was in-game.
They are in-game in the sense that they are screenshots from cut-scenes in the game, but they are from cut-scenes. They will be using the same graphics engine but will not have AI, or the variables that come with moving the character around and all of that. Actual in-game meaning when you are shooting and running around will not look that good. It's not possible, at least not on the Xbox 360.
....Again, Bioware's games have ALWAYS shown the same detail in the cutscenesas the in-game portion did. It's just like RE4. And again, how do you know what the limitations are for the 360? You aren't a dev.
"we noticed that during conversations, everything in the background blurs, while the characters involved stay crisp and in focus."

Same as in KOTR, and that still looks awesome....
Its too add a 'film' like appeal to the game. You know when you watch a film of two people talking the background is blured so you focus on the people talking....its called Directing.
[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]this game looks "slap ya mamma" good.moohanhaha "Tastes so good, make you wanna slap your mommma.... mmmm.... Momma come here *SLAP*" .... haha gotta love Friday After Next, even though it was the worst of the three.
 indeed.
[QUOTE="dmaximum"][QUOTE="SpecialForcesOp"]There was no reason to pull the PS3 into this topic. Yes this game looks very nice.Looks upgraded.:)
Hell better then anything the PS3 can pull at this point in time.
SpecialForcesOp
It's SW dude. Plus I kid. :)
I kid because I love.
but honestly name one PS3 games that looks this good.....
lair, uncharted drakes fortune, haze, mgs 4 man you are such a fanboy. i think this looks awesome but i can say that there are ps 3 games look just as good. They are in-game in the sense that they are screenshots from cut-scenes in the game, but they are from cut-scenes.
Memnock
You're not being a good boy now.
They actually explained the difference between in-engine and in-game, and they said they were in-game. Repeat with me, IN-GAME.

exactly. people talking "cutscene" stuff obviously have never seen a video of the game. everything shown is in-game.

I agree there is no need to compare systems on system wars [QUOTE="Forza_2"][QUOTE="Memnock"]They are in-game in the sense that they are screenshots from cut-scenes in the game, but they are from cut-scenes.

kotor was the very same way. all the scenes of diolague are done using the in-game engine. bioware just took what they did with that game and brought it to the next level with mass effect. isnt it the same with the MGS series?

is this pic in-engine or in-game?
you guys are focusing one the character models too much.
the backgrounds and environments aren't so hot.
No it doesn't I just wanted to know where my Extra 200$ went. :(
SpecialForcesOp
Uncharted, Ratchet, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Wardevil, Sigma.

I also noticed that the character models don't even look that great. The only thing that's impressive about them is the faces...and even with those, detail is dramatically reduced depending on distance. It's an interesting trick, and ends up making conversation sections look very nice. As much as I envy this game, however, I do not envy the graphics.
The funny thing is how KOTOR, after all these years, is still completly fresh and fun to me. I started a new game recently, and I've done so much stuff differently that it is a whole new experience.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
It's really amazing how much different you can make your experience. For example, my first time through I converted Juhani and she became one of my party members. I used her almost all the time, and she was a huge help and had a plot that was pretty involved. The second time? I killed her right when I met her. Completly changed the game. Not only does it change because she has nothing to do with the story anymore, but one of her Jedi friends was depressed and mad at me for killing her, so she ran off. I later found her asa Sith, and killed her. This is a small example too, especially compared to changing your force side or gender the 2nd time through.
Spartan3177
God I loved KOTOR. I spent so much time on that game I tought my wife was going to leave me. But then I got her into it and all was well again.
[QUOTE="Runningflame570"]Once again:
Character models = great
Environments = poor
Forza_2
Yup... very poor indeed !!
:| :| :| :| :| :|
So three shots, two with cinematic camera angles somehow disprove the poor environments shown in so much of the other media?
