Now this is what a call Milkage...
"The Sledgehammer-helmed title will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre."
"In 2011, Activision will release another new game in the Call of Duty series from an unspecified developer"
Look, if Activision has a franchise you love, don't expect it to last.
Time and again I've watched them take amazing games and then release god awful sequels.
Spiderman 2 to 3+
The Tony Hawk series used to be amazing, and you know what it's like now.
Guitar Hero got flooded to death
Here comes Call of Duty, and there's even that COD subscription they were considering.
Activision milks games, preferring to burn a franchise out quickly for fast profits than maintain it as a quality staple.
[QUOTE="Ninja-Bear"]In short, between now and 2011 Activision intend to release FOUR cod games. Lto_thaGIs that what it really means? They've said there'll be four releases; One from Infinity Ward (this will likely just be an expansion/maps packs for MW2) One from Treyarch (the rumored vietnam game, most likely) A new COD from an 'unspecified developer' next year And a new action-adventure COD from sledgehammer games next year. People will get sick of COD and it'll die a death, much like Guitar Hero did. Great job, Activision.

I cannot even begin to express my distaste for Activision and their "ideas" about where the industry should be headed.
Sorry my browsers messing up and GS is loading slow for me for some reasonUnforgiven2870Fair play, my apologies.
yeah i just read that
Activision is killing the COD brand
what's fantastic is they're doing this on the same day that BFBC2 launches
what the **** man:|
release 4 COD games in 2 years? Do they not see what is happening to guitar hero?
That's the amazing thing, really. That they cant learn a lesson which is hurting them right now. :?what the **** man:|

Does this surprise anyone? Activision is pissed at Infinity Ward, and greedy as hell. Thus, they're getting a new, cheaper developer and trying to attract gamers with differing tastes.
In short, between now and 2011 Activision intend to release FOUR cod games. Ninja-BearNo, only two are confirmed in that article. I wouldn't be surprised if the action adventure title releases in 2012; and IW is not confirmed to be working on a new title at all in there. Most likely they will do a new IP due to bad blood with the franchise at the moment. Still; this doesn't look god for Activision or the CoD franchise.

No, It called Activision, The Vision to milk a franchise till it dies and then Kick it to the curb. Now this is what a call Milkage...

....Wait, are you making a character in ME to import into ME2 as well?this is awesome, activision is digging its own grave and will take the cod franchise with it once and for all. then again theres always going to be the 14 year old runt who will buy anything call of duty.
bokiloki
hopefully Blizzard ditches Activision before that happens (much like Time Warner ditched AOL)

It quite clearly says 2011 in the Activision statement...
You could at least post some detail for discussion, rather than just a link.... Basically, they're ruining COD just like they did Guitar Hero: "As previously announced, Activision will release a new Call of Duty game from series co-developer Treyarch, responsible for Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World At War, this fall. Developer Infinity Ward is still scheduled to release two downloadable map packs for Modern Warfare 2 this year. In 2011, Activision will release another new game in the Call of Duty series from an unspecified developer. It also announced plans for another Call of Duty-based title from developer Sledgehammer Games, the recently formed studio lead by Dead Space creative leads Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey. The Sledgehammer-helmed title will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre." Infinity Ward will no longer be making anything Cod, and its two senior developers have been fired.Ninja-Bear
so the originator (and better developer)of the series has been pulled from making it altogether and handed to the bastard stepchild and his retarded cousin?

I'm calling it: Uncharted 2 clone in which you play as Ghost. This is going to be the worst **** ever.
Cherokee_Jack
A Splinter Cell/GRAW (somewhere in-between the two) clone would probably be more accurate. Still, it's hard to imagine how they plan to make that work within the CoD IP.
This move is beyond bizzare. Not only did they just go through the exact same **** with the music game genre (and look at how well that worked out!), but CoD isn't nearly as spin-off friendly an IP as the Guitar Hero franchise was. You get your "action adventure" spin-off, and then what? You can't do an MMO/Battlefield/MAG style game because it'll cannibalize vanilla CoD. An RTS? Not exactly what you picture the average CoD owner playing on their console.
You can't even call it greed because *everyone* knows where this ends -- with the CoD franchise dead in the water. My brain is thoroughly wrinkled.
im a big fan of the series. or at least i was until all this pay to play crap came into light...Does anyone still care about new call of d00dy games?
adv_tr00per
And so it begins!!! CoD will soon become a shell of its former self. Wow Activision, just wow!!! I knew sooner or later they would screw up even more then they have already this gen and this may be the icing on the cake. Why start to run a good franchise into the ground???!!! Money is more important then quality to Kotick I guess. I guess the guys that got fired were probably against this milkage of the franchise and they were let go because they would not go along with the plans Actvision had for the franchise.

Oh, sorry.......I'm replying ME1 just to make a new character ME2. I played ME1 3 times already, this is my 4th...I'm surprised buy all the stuff I missed in the first 3 play thoughs.I'm guessing the next 4 call of duties.....
Q4 2011 Modern Warfare 3 will be 80 $ on consoles
2010 Call of duty coming out this year will have flying vehicles and destructable cover
Q1 2011 Call of duty will be made for ONLY Multiplayer and have a monthly fee
Late Q2- Early Q3 Call of duty will be made as an FPS action adventure game
and the rest of the series will be made to be bundled with Gutiar Hero :D
great now activision can kill COD...and they IW is releaved of making anything COD, great way to treat your workers that got you a substancial amount of money activision. why would anyone want to develop for them after this?
