And so it begins!!! CoD will soon become a shell of its former self. Wow Activision, just wow!!! I knew sooner or later they would screw up even more then they have already this gen and this may be the icing on the cake. Why start to run a good franchise into the ground???!!! Money is more important then quality to Kotick I guess. I guess the guys that got fired were probably against this milkage of the franchise and they were let go because they would not go along with the plans Actvision had for the franchise.

And so it has been going on for the last five years.

That about sums it up.

**** you Activision. For a while I was taking it out on IW, but it's clearly not their fault the COD franchise is being pimped out for bus money, I guess the Guitar Hero craze was cut short (GEE I WONDER WHY? THEY ONLY RELEASED 7 GH GAMES IN 3 YEARS? WHO KNEW PEOPLE WOULD TIRE OF IT?!) so it's time to grab our teats and milk us dry in the form of CODMODBorefare2 etc.

Lol, that's good. That's what all of you get for supporting MW2.rcignoni
I'm starting to feel guilty for owning MW2, especially since I bash it so much for lack of innovation and overpraise for minor improvements. I think I have to trade it in now to keep my integrity somewhat intact. I kept it because I respect IW, but IW isn't even IW anymore. Time to trade it in towards my GoW3 pre-order, methinks.

Look, if Activision has a franchise you love, don't expect it to last.

Time and again I've watched them take amazing games and then release god awful sequels.
Spiderman 2 to 3+
The Tony Hawk series used to be amazing, and you know what it's like now.
Guitar Hero got flooded to death
Here comes Call of Duty, and there's even that COD subscription they were considering.

Activision milks games, preferring to burn a franchise out quickly for fast profits than maintain it as a quality staple.

killzonexbox

They're not considering it, they're doing it.

The company intends to expand the Call of Duty brand with the same focus seen in its Blizzard® Entertainment business unit. This will include a focus on high-margin digital online content and further the brand as the leading action entertainment franchise in new geographies, new genres and with new digital business models.Activision

So I just played COD2 today. It's such a great game. Ever since they made perks, killsteaks, and grenade launchers, the series has taken a downfall. Except for Nazi Zombies in WAW, that was great.

Raven is likely the next studio to go bye bye after Singularity fails to make an impact.

That's my cue to post this again. Regarding security guards showing up at Infinity Ward, studio heads missing.

Support Battlefield or Ghost Recon depending on your taste in scale because CoD should be dead to you by now.

Well it was a good run while it lasted. R.I.P Call of Duty, and heres to hoping Medal of Honor, GRAW or Battlefield takes up your mantle.

someone should necro that old pc gamers vs activision thread.where most pc gamers said they weren't going to buy it because of the higher price, no servers, etc... claiming that IW and activision just wants to milk the franchise..most console owners were saying" be quiet pc gamers.. I will happily support the game and company".... ooo how times have changed :P

That's all I have to say to Activision ^^.

They're the new EA, that's never been clearer than today. EA on the other hand have mostly cleaned up their act.

The downfall of COD has officially begun. Like Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero, this franchise is about to fade away in obscurity.

Heh, poor Infinity Ward. The founding team broke away from the Medal of Honor series and EA Games after working on Allied Assault. Now they're being exploited horribly by Activision. Oh well.

The lead programmer for COD can't be unemployed for long, somebody will snatch him up. I wonder how contractually bound the rest of the team are. I doubt they'd want to stay with Activison for longer than they'd have to. Hopefully the better developers of IW will be reunited in some other form.

For all the PC gamers who were hurting at IW giving them a bad PC port, let's face it; it was most likely Activision calling the shots regarding dedicated servers and what not. IW were probably unable to speak about it.

Activision totally burns out their "here and now" franchises like Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty, while simultaneously squatting on classic franchises like Kings' Quest and the rest of Sierra's back catalogue and doing nothing with them. They turned their noses up at Chronicles of Riddick, Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend when they merged with Vivendi, and it turns out that the only thing that they wanted out of the merger was toget World of Warcraft as a regular income stream when all their other franchises dry up. Activision = microvision.

i will say that the call of duty franchise have given me some great moments in gaming. however, i think the franchise is about to die IMO. too many games, map packs, different developers, broken online, and now with actual competiton (Bad Company 2), the series is getting too stale and watered down. thanks activision for killing guitar hero and now call of duty

I think this is really sad actually. Yeah, some of you may dislike MW2, but I really enjoy it - even the short singleplayer was fun. But obviously, Activision saw that it got massive sales and have decided to milk it for all it's worth - why they haven't learnt from GH I don't know? Activision are quickly turning into a very bad publisher in my eyes. I used to love Tony Hawk games too, played the demo of whatever the last one was (before that board thing), and turned it off after 2 minutes.
