New PS Vita Model Comparison with Old PS Vita.

OLED beats LCD in picture quality, colours and deeper blacks.

LCD's are probably cheaper to produce, so SONY can recoup a bit more money of each sold, and hopefully earn some of the money back that the Vita as a whole has lost. 

Fail of a handheld. SONY needs to stick to consoles.

Edit: Not to mention LCD's use more battery power.  This is clearly a move by SONY to reduce productions costs, by sacrificing quality.

Ok so stupid question, but why does the new Vita only have one door on the top? Have they combined the card slot and the accessory slot into one, or have they removed one of them?

Im sure that it does. However LCD's still recquire far more power.

after seeing that i wont be switching from my current model but if i was in the market for one it would certainly be considered. the LCD screen looks good, charges from micro USB and an hour extra battery life. whats the price difference?osan0

To be honest I don't know, since I don't own a Vita. I was mainly curious, because I've been debating on buying one since I seem to have quite a few Vita games sitting around from PS+ now. Does that mean that the accessory slot has been removed then? I couldn't find any info on it online.

I would respect the Vita even more if it just disappeared and went away.  The Vita tried but it failed.  No need for Sony to trot this garbage out any longer.  Just let it rest already.  These days its just embarassing.

look at that lcd screen. it looks really bad. and psvita slim is a big shame. i was just hoping bigger dpad analogs and buttons.nothing more.. screen lines looks really bad. new design isnt good. and vita needs "original games" just like psp. i dont want stupid downloadable small ipod games..

No oled no buy, i will stick to my original vita with it's sexy oled screen.

New PSVita.  Old PSVita.  Vita TV.  Honestly who cares.  Vita is dead in the water if not already.  3ds kicking its butt left and right.  Sony should just kill this system.  Give it some dignity.

Sony usually downgrades their products. The original PSP and PS3 have a better build quality than their successors. PSP slim feels like something made by Nintendo or something.SolidSnake35

The Vita is a great product. I've been completely satisfied with my purchase. My only beef is the lack of a TV out cable. They put that accessory slot on it and never used it. So I guess they have no plans to ever use it if they removed it from the new model.

The new one has a nasty washed out crappy lcd screen.

Get the oled version or don't get it at all.

Seriously as an OLED vita owner the screen is soooo good...I had heard people say it was amazing before i got it, but thought they were just exaggerating...they really were not... you need to spend a few hours with it to really appreciate how good everything looks on it....serious eye candy...even just watching youtube videos on it is unlike any other screen I've used... i wish my TV was OLED lol

Burn in on screens really isnt an issue unless you go out of your way to try and make it happen... like have the same image on screen for 12 hours...but who the hell does that... set it to auto sleep after a set period and it will pretty much never happen.

If you own the old Vita with the OLED screen (or have been playing on one the whole time it's been out), stick with it. The slim is a $200 downgrade and you will be upset with yourself for taking the plunge once you see how bad the screen quality really is compared to OLED.

nah, I still prefer the original, even the design with metalic frame around it looks much better

ha, it looks better. Though I probably will only double dip if they make a Vita with HDMI output.

Also OLED is overrated.

I have never seen an LCD screen that was better then an OLED screen, so from Picture quality I can not imagine that the new Vita would have a better image. The real question is how big the downgrade is, if it is very minor, then the 1 hour longer battery life may well be a good tradeoff.

A 5 hour batterylife is pretty damn pathetic for a handheld.

New screen has noticeable horizontal lines, just like the PSP-3000. OLED in comparison is smoother, colors are more saturated. I don't know why you would say that black is better on the LCD, a technology known for its inability to display true black compared to OLED.
