The design stays pretty close to the PSP Go, which is not a bad thing. As people have already stated, the biggest change needed right now is to switch the analog stick positions with those of the D-pad and the face buttons.
R2 and L2 buttons would not hurt either, but I am not entirely sure where they could place those without making the handheld too bulky. Can someone tell me what the rear trackpad is used for? Perhaps that could somehow replace the function of the R2 and L2 buttons?

That is the one place where the 3DS falls flat on its face.Sky-
except that it has it's touch screen which can act as a 2nd analog.
From my experience, the touch screen isn't the best substitute for the second analog either. Have you played Metroid Prime Hunters? I found it really hard to use the stylus to control where Samus was looking and I imagine it would be the same situation on the 3DS for other first person titles as well as other games with an adjustable camera.
I think the track pad on the back is mainly for internet use and such, i think the main idea of it being on the back is so fingers dont cover text that you are trying to read. I wouldn't mind if R2 and L2 buttons were just simple, small buttons so as not to take up room, remote play with essentially a full controller in your hand would be awesome :P
