Does Sony own the Ratchet and Clank franchise? If they do it's dissapointing that it'll never go to another system.helium_flash
Sony Doesn't own it but the Company that does make it is a 2nd Party developer to Sony so they could make games for another Console when there Contract with Sony expires.

They're not gameplay shots right? Imo, platformers are all about gameplay which is heavily determined by the control you have over the character. Too bad every RaC game has had better gameplay then the marios. Do people even buy R&C games? I can't fathom it. So generic And mario games arnt? Lmao, have you played any mario game? some people are just dense I mean he is no worse than someone saying luigis mansion is better than all ps2 and ps3 games. I mean I'm a huge ps supporter but I started gaming with mario. I mean mario, zelda, and metriod are all amzing series that I love playing. That being said luigis mansion certainly doesn't even come close to represent the best nintendo has to offer and is bested by alot of games on ps2. anybody who has seriously played the ps2 at all will know this to be true.

MS owns Bungie. I thought Insomniac was only 2nd party for Sony - they aren't owned by Sony.

To give you an idea of how that game did...Super Mario Bros. 3 wasn't included with a console and did 18 million, Super Mario Land did 14 million, GoldenEye 007 did 8 million, Super Mario Sunshine did 5.5 million even though it was released in 2002, Gamecube didn't get much after 2004 worth playing (or at all for that matter) and it carried the Mario name which pretty much assures even mediocre titles (not saying this is one) are million-sellers. Gears has already done over 3 million, Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 did 4 and 6 million respectively, Gran Turismo 2 did 8.5 million, Dragon Warrior VII did over 4 million in Japan alone, Rayman did 4 million. By Mario's standards Sunshine was a flop both critically and commercially.

Naughty Dog would be disappointed in you for saying that, they are very friendly and have a symbiotic relationship with Insomniac. When Naughty Dog was making Crash (before Sony's acquisition of ND and Vivendi's ruining of the franchise) Insomniac was making Spyro, when ND was making Jak, Insomniac was making Ratchet and both studios communicated, shared ideas and were very friendly towards each other. Both Crash and Spyro, Jak and Ratchet are distinctively different franchises and you can argue the merits of each, but the studios do in fact enjoy collaborating to a degree.

No, thats Insomniac..but Insomniac is firmly pro-Sony for the moment, they have a very favorable relationship with Naughty Dog (who happens to be owned by Sony and is recognized as one of the most proficient developers in the business) and Resistance has been doing good numbers for them. Ratchet and Clank did very well for them on the PS2 as well. They're kind of like Level-5 in that while they aren't Sony owned (although personally I think Sony should pounce on Level-5 right now) they have a loyalty to Sony forged through mutual benefit and respect of each other's wishes.

No, Wii could not handle them..but I think for at least the next couple of years Ratchet and Clank is a firmly Sony-exclusive property. Personally I would have liked Dragon Quest IX to show up on a next-gen platform but developers do what they think is most beneficial to their goals.

Actually Bungie was pre-emptively purchased by Microsoft..otherwise it would have been on PS2 as well where it wouldn't have exploded to such over-blown hype (amazing game I'm sure but its kind of like Mario..its not the end-all be-all people).

I fully expect that to hinge upon when Banjo is actually released. Insomniac is a top-tier developer to be sure and Rare has kind of gone downhill in more ways than one since SNES.

Actually no we don't...one more step down from Sunshine, and if Ratchet returns to the original or improves then it will be better. Right now the last Mario game and the Jak and Ratchet properties are more or less on even footing as gameplay goes.

Sorry but @ this point I will take almost any platformer VS a Mario game now a day's. Mario games are like spam e-mails, you just can't stop'em......  Super mario world was the peak of 2d mario games, and Mario 64 was the peak of 3d mario games. Â
SMG = Mario sunshine + lame motion controls = bleh I have never played R&C games before, but I think I am gonna pick up 1&2 used, and find out what I have been missing.

Actually I just realized what I said.... SMG = Mario 64 + Vertigo + Lame motion Controls = bleh. SMG Mario won't even have the functionality of the water pack, so its just gonna be plain old mario again with no additional moves. But I guess they are gonna try sell the fact that he is in space.....
