The listing puts the PS5 price at €499, and the PS5 Digital Edition at €399. This is in line with pricing rumours we've heard already that mirrors these exactly, equating to $499/ £449 for the PS5, and $399/ £349 for the PS5 Digital Edition in the US and UK.
@Random_Matt: nothing in the launch lineup is making me wanna buy a ps5. Hell, most of what were announced are coming to PC anyway. Also, I wouldn't go digital only for a console. That SSD will be filled up really quick.
@ermacness: I already have a PC that's on-par with what the PS5 does. Heck, if anything, I'd rather use that 500 USD to buy a new GPU since most games that come out are multiplat anyway.
$100 for the disk drive seems nuts to me. The cost is more like $20 max, meaning they would have far better margins on that version out the gate, while having better software margins on the digital console... Hmm.
$500 for 9.2tflops is pretty abysmal, tho. Bet you if it wasn't for their SSD, the system could've been $400 with a standard SSD.
No really SSD's price match NVME prices at the 5x the speed. The price increase is not the fact that its a custom 5.5GBps NVME its because its DRAM, DRAM prices are 4x the price of standard HDD's.
WD Blue 1TB HDD = Sea $40
Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD = $140
XPG 8200 Pro 1TB NVME = $140
Even if it was a standard SSD the two consoles would still be the same price as they are now with NVME's. SATA is dead.
My Kingston A2000 runs at XSX speeds and cost me less than a Samsung 860 Evo that runs at 1/4 the speed of it.
DRAM prices, its also why we only have a 2x increase in RAM over current consoles.

Tsk Tsk Tsk..... Rose tinted fanboy goggles tend to mess with your reading comprehension. I'm sure you can build a PC with ps5 specs, but did it cost you 500 bucks?
Thats funny considering a damn 5700xt cost now 400 dollars with nothing, and a ryzen 2 8 cores 16 threads is like 200 dollars.
The PS5 can be 9.2 te and still will be worth it at 600 even more at 400.
Is a 5700xt gonna be used for the next 5 years? No. Everyone will upgrade it. You can't upgrade the ps5. Stuck with 9.2tflops in 2024 will be 🥱
The Pro version could well be the answer to that.
Didn't sony say there won't be any, and next gen is 5y? And even if there is a Pro, how is paying an additional $400-500 a plus? They should release a powerful console like the X, and replace it by a new gen in 5 years.

Well seeing what magnificent wonders came from the ps4 with the talent of Sony's 1st party this gen, 9.2 tf isn't all that bad.
For sure, but what if they had XSX cpu clocks and 12tflops for the same price? Those same amazing first party devs would've been EVEN more impressive with their games.
They have no idea what they’re gonna do when this console launches. PlayStation is literally throwing feelers out in all directions, willing to turn a 180 in a moments notice.

I knew your fanboy was going to show eventually. The difference between the SeX and the ps5 is minimal at best. Much like this gen, all you'll see at best is a native resolution bump. The ps5 version of multiplats will be close to the SeX version than the SeX version will be to the PC.

Yea, i am a huge lem actually. If you want to see my passport, just ask.
The PS5 is far behind the X when it comes to power, and CP2077 will be the one showcasing to all. I can already predict all the "bu bu but MS paid CDPR for a poor PS5 patch of the game" bullshit 🤣🤣🤣
$500 is what I expected from the start. It's an amazing price for the specs.
No...
A 10 teraflop GPU costs more than $500 by itself.
A 5700 XT costs $369 and is at 10TFLOPS with with a 50Hz overclock which every single one of them can do they all break 100Hz+ overclock which would bring them to 10.50 TFLOPS.
What I'm saying is that the differences between multiplats will be more than likely be more noticeable comparing the PC vs SeX than you'll see In a SeX vs a ps5 comparison.

I reckon it would be negligible across all of them. The main difference would be framerate at least for the first 2 years.
Is easy to see that you loss this one and can't even make a decent argument to defend your self.

I think you are mistaking the PS5 UHD blu-ray drive with a cheap dvd drive or very cheap normal blu-ray drive on PC.
UHD drives on PC are not 20 at all in fact more than $100 and external ones go in some models over $300.
Obviously i know sony will not pay what you or i pay,but 20 dollars i am sure is not.
Either way i think the whole $399 for digital is an incentive to people for going digital which has a bigger profit margin for sony than physical games do.

Core clock x shader units x 2 = RDNA/GCN TFLOPS
The cheapest i saw it on amazon was $389 and the Nitro+ model is $458 thats more than the PS5 digital edition.
@tormentos: I don't need to defend myself against your arguments.
The XSX is more powerful. Much more powerful than a system you're a slave to. You defend anything Sony related like it was your child, but don't even play their games. Are you a paid actor?
