Define genaric. Games are like music, sooner or later your going to run out of fresh ideas. As long as the gameplay is solid, I don't care if it rehashes 50 games that came before it. I don't care either, but that's not exactly what you expect to see after 7 years of developement.
If you said the screenshots are from an Oblivion mod, I'd believe it. If you'd say it's a mod for The Witcher, Gothic 3, NWN2, Two Worlds, hell, even a mod for those crappy LOTR action games from a few years ago, I'd also believe it. It has no visual identity. Timeshift copies FEAR and HL2, but it managed to have a distinct look. Why can't BioWare do the same?
Then the voice actig is bad, I hate the accents.
The story sounds like ass, but whatever. If it's well delivered I don't care.
The emphasis put on MATURITY! and CHOICE! is laughable. They want to directly compete with The Witcher, but the marketing campaign shows a childish approach. They're also arrogant. In a recent Eurogamer interview they said their gory and sexy fantasy is original, thus disregarding 90% of the low fantasy. I remmeber facepalming at E3, I think they said something along the lines of "the first RPG with meaningful choices".
